Awesome! I think Manuel got the short end of that stick though...at least you still had arms! :D

Amazing stuff Eric! So many clever and creative peices. Thank you for sharing the special cards and seasonal objects you made for friends and loved ones. Manuel is lucky to be the recipient of so many of your masterpeices.

Yer pal,
Eric October

The Tonga Hut at night is a Beautiful Piece,Eric!
and the corrugated cardboard for the ku's headdress....genius!

Great work Eric! I especially like seeing your pencil work, keep it going!

D

Absolutely thrilling to see so much talent and such a huge range. Honestly...really, REALLY fun!!! Thanks for sharing!

This mug by Eric October is perhaps the most understated, insider concept I have seen in the Tiki Revival so far. It's simple, really odd, and genius Tiki Geek stuff! It inspired me to create yet another mug diorama:

WHAT mug, you say? Wehell, this is indeed a one-of-a-kind ceramic drinking vessel, as good for a Navy Grog as any rum barrel out there! :)

Thanks Eric for yet another out-there, yet-so-close Tiki concept realized.

T

Amazing work Eric. I especially like your conceptional work and your black paper work.

The concept on this one from the Hunters & Collectors show is outstanding:

Love the Kon-Tiki book mug; great work, Eric!

T

Thanks for all the encouraging words, everybody! I really means a lot to me!

And thanks Sven for the awesome pix of the Kon Tiki Book mug... my head is swimming from the praise!

Finally had a chance to update at the top of page one!

Mahalo fer lookin'!
Yer pal,
Eric October

Aaah, finally we get to see the amazing Tiki Bob "pillar" mug in its street corner diorama! Another one-of-a-kind concept realized! :)

Nice Work!!!!! Wow....lots of inspiration! Thanks for sharing!

I LOVE the birdman bowl. Good stuff all around!

T

Hey everybody! Thank you for your kind words!

New work posted at the top of page 1! (I'm also planning to eventually update my Other Crafts thread with in-progress shots and describe the work a bit more... soon, I hope!)

Eric, it is always such a boost to visit your gallery and see the horn-of-plenty of concepts realized, in such a multitude of media, with such knowledge of the genre, but interpreted in so many creative new ways. Puts a big smile on my face every time!

Dig that Tikiyaki cut-out jet! Reminds me of cereal box backs... :)

[ Edited by: bigbrotiki 2011-07-20 12:42 ]

E

The Rapa Nui bowl is outrageous - LOVE IT!

Diggin ALL your new work!
Birdman bowls,PNG shotglasses,
and LOVE the background on the Lambrettiki piece
very minimal and perfect for showcasing the incredible scooter scootin Moai!
Keep it up Eric!
Never lose that FIRE!
:)

Nice work Eric! That Scootiki piece was awesome!

After working my way through this thread I am fully convinced that you never EVER sleep. Such tiki awesomeness! So many mediums... it is insane and inspiring. Supercalifragilicexpealidocious work!

T

Another pile of work from the past few months finally posted... I still can't seem to swing even a monthly posting... but with a new year, perhaps I can make some sort of resolution or something...

Oh well... hope you enjoy!

Mahalos fer lookin'!
Yer Pal,
Eric October

Another Swell batch of Wonderous Creations,Eric!
Especially the Bumatay Blowfish Mug !(and all your Krampus pieces!)
You just push it to the limit
and achieve such Incredible Results!

Insane maddness Eric!!!
I love the Tonga Fountain Bowl, the Tiki Menorah is hilarious (I'm not sure your Rabbi would approve). I had previously missed the Bumatay/fish connection, Wendy just posted a Bumatay fish too. Your caricatures are spot-on, the glazes on the birdman pendants are great and the PNG Bird mug is very cool.
I know that the Rapa Nui Birdman Bowl No.2 was an older post but I must have missed it - brilliant in it's simplicity
Keep on doing what you do Manuel!

Great work. The black paper illustration, in particular, are exceptional!

Can't thank you enough for doing that drawing. They (and I) loved it!

Do you sleep? Amazing work, as always!

T

Aloha everybody! Well, here it is just over a month (or I should say ONLY a little over a month and I've gotten my act together enough to post again... actually, I feel like I'm busier than ever, and I have LOTS of pieces in the works simultaneously... if I don't get posting, I'll get even farther behind... post-wise, that is.

Mahalos for all the kind words...
Thanks Kinny, YOU sir are an inspiration!
Mike, I've been having a blast with ceramics! (as long as the blasts don't happen inside the kiln, I'm good) I'm preparing to revisit the birdman bowl concept soon!
Zerostreet, the black paper is fun! You should give it a try, it's very rewarding!
SandraDee, glad the three of you liked my efforts!
Hey Big Kahuna... I certainly don't get a much sleep as I should... sometimes it's hard to shut off my brain and get some shut eye!

Bowl by Eric October.

Painting on the wall by little lost tiki. Painting on the birds by ME!

Hi Eric, after we got home with your terrific bowl I couldn't resist making it a closer match to Kenny's painting. I hope that's OK with you that we now have a collaboration! Cheers, Wendy

Sweet

cool!

T

OK, this at-least-once-a-month-post thing seems to be quite beyond my capacity...

So here's my four-month-later post!

Mahalo fer looking!

I just wanted to reiterate that I am a fan of your work. You are one prolific and talented fella, and in so many mediums. Great inspiring stuff.

T

Aloha Everybody!

I broke my thread by adding too much work, so had to move this update to a new post... so, with out further aku aku ado... here's about half a year's worth of work!

(I also included the work from my last post, since the oldest pieces from this new post were completed about the same time, around last year's Tiki Oasis.

Hope you enjoy!

Holy Crap Eric, where do I start?

Polly Tiki Bird, Shrunken Head Santas, Cannibal Cookies -
UliUli, Lei Bowl, Stockton Islander building, DukDuk Plates - very cool
The bamboo roof frame behind one of the Bahooka parrots makes it look like a rabbit, I thought maybe it was a collab with Babalu :D
Something very cool about the Islander Sign Tall mug that I can't quit put my finger on. The low relief carving makes a subtle but distinctive image.
Missed you guys at Mojave Oasis :(

Holy Mackerel! There's a lot of work there GROG's never seen. It all looks great. You've really gone to town with those black paper drawings. GROG gotta take after you and quit doing the molded ceramics, and just start doing everything by hand. (The sculpting is the most fun part for GROG anyway.) Keep it up. That's a lotta art, and you're only getting better the more you do. You've grown SO MUCH since you first started doing tiki art.

P

GOOD! GOOGLY! MOOGLY!

That's a whole lot of fantastic art. I particularly like some of the bar drawings on black paper. That must share a lot of technique with black velvet painting. I haven't seen a whole lot of the combination of subject matter and media.

I'm going to have to come back to that post several times before I can process it all.

Eric,
I only became aware of your work after seeing The Islander mug you did for the Bowl-a-rama. I dig it man. All of it. It's some real ginchy stuff. I dig the bowls the best. The PNG and the Guanko are outta-sight! I've got to get my hands on one of your bowls soon. Keep posting, man. Everything looks great. And let me know when you have more bowls for sale!

OK! I saw at least 15 things that absolutely blew me away! You are an amazing art machine!

Wow. Amazing thread of work with so many stand out pieces. Inspiring.

The man is unstoppable! Owning only a tiny fraction of the plethora of your imaginative work fills me with happiness, Eric.

Eric we sent ebTiki his Eric October Islander mug this week. I love your art. I just saw LiddleLola's bar drawing. Super good as is all of your work. See you at Caliente. Cheers, Wendy
