Rugger's Reef: Sacramento

Pages: 1 12 replies

Since relocating from Allentown, PA last summer I have been making do at a rented house in East Sac where I have set up a modest but stifled little tiki abode and home bar called "Rugger's Reef". Favorite movie: Donovan's Reef + favorite sport: rugby = Rugger's Reef!

I am happy to announce that as of the 23rd I will be the proud owner of a completely original 1959 MCM home in the NE part of Sacramento. On a 1/4 acre it is complete with pool, BBQ pit and old school rec room. Plans to gently upgrade the house and take sections in a polynesian direction are already underway between myself and some of the terrific local ohana.

Stay tuned!

Looks like a great house with the proper architecture for Tiki action.

Will there be a tour for area residents when its ready? :)

Nice to meet you Matt, our new neighbor!

Just wanted to let you know you cool MCM home was built/designed by the Streng Bros.

~some call them "Eichler-esque" but you'll find the Strengs were contemporary with Eichler. Our designer was likely Carter Sparks. They do have great MCM floorplans, and quite obviously make a great Tiki host.

Our platt "Arcadia Gardens" represents some of the smaller Streng homes. I think the most original two are yours and the one next to me on Brownson...

Beyond that, I'd-a loved dropping by for the Tiki-4th, but my g/f being out of town means that I'd get less heat if I came over with her in tow... So happy 4th and welcom to the 'hood!

Mike

I enjoyed a frosty tropical beverage in the Rugger's Reef Glass just this week.

Think I'll have another.
