Let me be one of the first to welcome TikiHighway / Department of Customz to Tiki Central. If The 2012 Event is half as good as 2011's, which I am sure it will be, than this is going to be an event not to be missed.

Frankly,
If there was half the people, and half the chaos, that would be a good thing.
That was the 1 times out of Hundreds as Dons, that bad service, and a so so time.

Whoseyrtiki and daughter of... will be there with with her 63 Comet to celebrate tiki, good company, and her birthday. (not necessarily in that order).

I bought my first 2 Tiki Farm mugs at the 2011 Tiki Highway. Now I've got 70+ mugs from different artists and a whole tiki room with new and vintage finds. It kick started my long time interest in tiki.

I'll be back so come visit and get some

OK, Oasis is behind us, now we can move on...

At last !! It's the return of "The Hula Worms" to Don's.

This event was CRAZY MAD last year !!

Rockabilly dudes sporting gang tattoos and Bettie Page's in every shape, size, and ethnicity. All the money they were saving by drinking PBR (rather than Don's Tropicals) was being spent on Tiki art. :)

Make it a Tiki two-fer and go eat some of A-Frame's chili at Hi-Times before.

I call dibs on parking in ATP's driveway !!

Last year it was very crowded inside, which is amazing since it was the first year. There were a lot of cool cars and art to buy. It's worth the trip even if you don't live in the area.
There were tons of Bettie Page's and rockabilly guys and everyone got along just great.
The restaurant was serving off of a limited food and drink menu which makes sense with all of the people.
I hope the event brings in tons of money for Don's.
Then 6 days later it's the International Tiki Marketplace on September 1st.

When is each band scheduled to play?

Was the event packed?

A good crowd, but not as many people as last year, which was a good thing if you wanted to see the bands.
it went much smoother this year also.

Great time! The Hula Girls kicked ass, as usual.

This was stop 2 of 3 on our whirlwind Sunday tiki tour, so we weren't able to stay as long as we would have under normal circumstances (we left right as the Hula Girls were arriving...20 tiki demerits for us, but we'll make it up I swear!). It seemed like there was a little more breathing room this year but you wouldn't have guessed it from the parking. It was fun to catch up with a lot folks after Oasis weekend, though as I mentioned in another thread I think photo phatigue has set in.

Thanks to the event organizers for keeping Tiki Highway going. It looked like a good crowd turned out.

Tiki tOny's bird is doing a fine job of illustrating my energy level after Oasis weekend.
