So let me ask again...

So who exactly in your mind was a more influential mixologist than DtB?

I ignored your question because it's an irrelevant nonsense question. Does the amount of influence someone has determine their skill level on a spectrum? I would say no. Many celebrities are influential and are morons. Would you consider Paris Hilton to be the Beethoven of celebrity because thousands of women bought chihuahuas to carry around in their purses? It's ridiculous.

So you can't name a more influential mixologist. Okay, since you are focusing on skill, that's fine. Who do you consider to be a more skilled mixologist? And does it really matter?

In any case, back on topic; As far as your original goal of simplifying Jeff Berry's "Simplified Zombie" to two rums instead of three, this is a perfectly reasonable quest. Have at it! And feel free to report back with your findings.

Thank you - it's amusing to read back through this thread and see the arrogance of people who can't comprehend modifying a drink into something new - even though half of tiki drinks are merely replacing lemon with lime, or grapefruit juice with orange juice. I merely was interested in making a simpler tiki cocktail with cinnamon syrup and a single fruit juice. When I have more time this weekend I may try it, although the simplified Zombie is divine and simple enough as is. I'm pretty sure lime juice alone will cut it.
