I'm looking to do some tiki work on my deck, and I'd like to build a dock-side post and rope thing instead of a standard handrail. Can't seem to find round posts to use for it though. Anyone know where to get them? Only thing the internet seems to find are large scale commercial supplies. Something like these:

Not entirely sure, still in planning. But probably somewhere around 6-8" diameter, 48-60" tall. |

Would second-hand telephone poles be too big? Around these parts they're always replacing them, and they're not always the same size depending on their intended load. It's the first thing that pops to mind. |

I looked into that, a lot of power companies have recycling programs where they sell them cheap. Seems like either Dominion Power (in VA) does not, or I can't find any. I called a few numbers and they had no idea what I was asking for. I might try again on that though. |

I got my posts at Tractor Supply Co. If you have one of those nearby (or something similar), they keep them in stock. They come in varying diameters (4-6 inch). [ Edited by gooneybird on 2022-05-06 10:11:06 ] [ Edited by gooneybird on 2022-05-06 10:11:42 ] |
