We have so many palm tree logs down here in the Lauderdale area too. Many are still in front of people's houses waiting to be taken away. Every time I see one I say to my wife "that would make a great tiki." But, alas, I also have no artistic talent whatsoever! Idreamoftiki - I feel for you and all my friends who are still renting. I bought my house 5 years ago for just over $100K and now houses in my neighborhood are going for nearly $300K. I could never afford my house if I were buying it today! I am going to have to move eventually because we are going to have a second child and need more room. Even though I'll have the equity out of my old house, when I buy another house, the higher real estate taxes will kill me! Right now I pay only $1500 a year. If I sold my house and bought a new one, my taxes would triple! I would be so out of S. Florida if my whole family didn't live down here. |
