The Blue-Ringed Octopus is one of Australia's most beautiful and deadly creatures,despite it's size (5 to 8 inches)... They're fairly docile but a tetrodotoxin in their venom is powerful enough to kill a human.. When provoked,the brown patches on their skin darkens dramatically and iridescent blue rings pulsate... I have chosen woodburning as the medium for this creature, an homage to the the style of the woodblock prints of Japanese Masters Hokusai and Kuniyoshi...
