I have to agree with tiki-riviera, "Halloween Hootenanny" (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000DD28/ref%3Dnosim/lksmsubsite-sub-mu-asin-20/104-1863962-3718320) is a great compilation of rockabilly bands singing Halloween type songs. It has songs like Munsters Theme by Los Straitjackets, Halloween Dance by Reverend Horton Heat & Little Demon -by Amazing Royal Crowns. Also, Southern Culture on the Skids (http://66.70.157.23/index2.htm) has a CD called "Zombified" which is a great Halloween album. Of course, there is also Oingo Boingo.. the classic Halloween band. Unga Bunga - I remember seeing Oingo Boingo at the now renamed Irvine Meadows...Fun, Fun, Fun. Just my 2 cents. |

Feelin' Zombified...!!!! I love what you are creating and I'm sort of on the same wavelength with you this Halloween! I am currently working on some Halloween CD's and would consider doing a trade with you...IF it interests you. I am doing three CD's and have one done so far (the first one listed below).
I would love a Cocktail Tiki Room Halloween CD though * ::: trying not to beg :::: * and would really, really appreciate it as I am really into this sort of thing! :) . I also have a CD that I made in August for my Hutikihi party that has lounge classics if you'd like that. Well, something to think about...don't feel you have to say yes. :) [ Edited by: exoticat on 2003-10-19 22:14 ] |

"Til the Following Night" by Screaming Lord Sutch The above songs are available on Joe Meek compilations that can be found very easily. Everyone should have at least one Joe Meek compilation in their collection. He produced some amazing singles in the 60s ("Telstar" being the most famous). Jo Meek also did an amazing space-themed album called "I Hear a New World". Another great space themed album is "Man in Space With Sounds" by Atillio Mineo. Perrey and Kingsley did some crazy spacey albums in the 60s. |

hey zombie... i am coo-coo for themed compilations. Halloween is pretty much equal to my love of space, hawaiian, cowboy and x-mas comps. i have a fairly large rekkid collection and i've been doing a specific Halloween comp for the past 15 years. along with music, there's sound-byte clips from horror films, instructional rekkids and spook show trailers. i send out over 100 copies to friends almost every year. last year, i did a 'best of' 2 cd set. here's the cover: there's a lot of hidden stuff in albums all over the place. check track listings of classic albums and you'll be surprised how many Halloween themed tracks were slipped into classic lounge stuff! don't have too much fun! |

hey KahunaMilu.. if i's iz not mistaken, that is a take-off/cover of the original version from a rare rekkid called, "The Monster Album" on DCP International records from 1964. it's your basic Monster-a-go-go rekkid. there's a smokin' song on that LP called, "Frankenstein Meets The Beetles" which kicks! Paul, John, George and Ringo felt sorry for Frankenstein, so they let him join the group! and he didn't have to change his hairstyle according to the song! Exoticat... thanks for your kind words...yeah, i'd did the cover art. |

Well we finally had our Halloween shindig this past saturday. 4x 80 minute CD's full of tunes... But I STILL couldn't fill one lousy disc with the lounge mix I was looking for. Thanks again for everyones help, some great suggestions that extended the cocktail hour from 15 minutes to 50 (before the tried & true "WelcomeToMyMonsterPurpleMashEaterNightmare" stuff). I think if I start now, I should have a decent CD by next year. Thanks again! -Z |

These aren't loungy or even relevant but they are nonetheless Halloween related like the majority of music mentioned at the top of this thread... Reggae music has a couple that are worth noting - one of the best and in my opinion one of the wickedest dub tracks ever recorded - Peter Tosh's Dracula which was the B-Side to the single for his better known recording Vampire from the No Nuclear War album. Great bass line and plenty of SFX of screaming women, chains rattling and Bunny Wailer providing some eardrum shattering "monster sounds" near the top of the track. Second, in 1979 a Jamaican DJ (rapper) who went by the name Lone Ranger recorded this album... It features such songs as Barnabas Collins, Hell Driver, Frankenstein, U.F.O., etc. I don't know if he was going through a monster stage in his career or what because he never recorded any other "horroresque" songs afterwards. Two years later the DJ Yellowman recorded a song called Me Kill Barnie that answered Lone Ranger's Barnabas Collins. Where Lone Ranger said, "Barnie is the best inna the business, Barnie chew your neck like Wrigley's." Yellowman said, "Turn off the light, lock your door tight, me and Barnabas have to fight tonight." Good stuff! If anyone likes reggae music or is just curious to hear let me know. After this and a bunch of other Halloween threads were bumped, I had to put my 2 cents in. I love Halloween maybe even more than Tiki (at least for about 2 months out of the year). Right now, I'm trying to put together a lounge Halloween compilation. Here's where I'm at so far. A few of these have been posted but most haven't: [ Edited by: brandomoai 2009-09-23 20:55 ] [ Edited by: Brandomoai 2009-09-23 20:56 ] |

Last year I poured over my CD collection and did a few Halloween comps just for kicks. I went with songs that either had lyrics about weird/dark subjects, monsters, or sci-fi themes and songs that just had sort of creepy atmospheric aspects to the music. And I threw in a handful of fun ones since most of us usually go with humorous costumes at Halloween. Death and the Devil The Angel Of Death.....Hank Williams Sci-Fi Creature Feature The Addams Family Theme.....Vic Mizzy Creepy Pop The Man With The Harmonica.....Apollo 440 A few days before Halloween my friend Sparky, his girlfriend Cookie, and I were driving around one afternoon listening to the Creepy Pop mix and Sparky asked about the music. "It's a sorta creepy pop mix I did for Halloween," I said. "It's not really that creepy," Sparky said. "No," Cookie agreed. This year it'll be Monster Mash and Thriller for them. |

Actually, the whole soundtrack album of "Mad Monster Party" is pretty swanky-sounding! |
