What a terrific mug. It's so big we love it. Thank you for the sticker too, I'll have to put it one our car. Wendy and Dan

M

Mug number 1/25 is ready for eBay. I'll post it and the link tomorrow. Too late to post it today.

The first 12 will be with this matte finish green stone glaze with a speckled white inside. The remaining 13 mugs will be a bright green high gloss with yellow (corn meal) interior.
Most will sell on eBay, a few will be given as gifts or trade and I'll bring a handful to Oasis to sell.

MauiTiki - I missed out on the "tiki trifecta." Those were great looking mugs my friend. Let me get past Hukilau and I will be ready for the next collector's set you offer to us here on TC.

Mahalo and ola kino maika'i to you!

Vince, believe it or not I have a couple numbers matching sets of the original three mugs hidden away at my Parents in California. Very low numbers. I'm bringing them to Oasis with me to help Pay for my booth.

Good Luck!

Only a couple days left to own the first ever mug created by Maui Tiki. When I'm on my 20th mug design someone will be able to brag they have my first mug ever!

Honestly it's already selling for more than I had hoped for. Thanks Tiki ‘Ohana!

It's a great mug. Worth every penny.

M

I made my first custom for my Dad for Father's Day. It has a 3-D Island of Maui on the back and some additional carving along the bottom. I had fun experimenting with two tone glazing.

I get back to Maui tomorrow, so I'll list the first Gloss green mug on eBay this week!

M

Gecko sent me a photo of his new shelves in his studio. He has some cool stuff in progress. The guy is amazing.

I spied one of my mugs that I sent Gecko to make a custom on the third shelf.

Very cool, I can't wait to see it when it's done.

LT

Droooool!

Great mugs, I'm glad you are making more! Keep up the nice work!

M

Just picked up the latest issue of Maui Time. It has Brad Parker's "Jungle Witch" art on the cover in 3-D!! It comes with 3D glasses and everything.
I'll throw in the issue of Maui Time plus an issue of Maui arts and culture Magazine, both with Brad's art on the cover, to whoever wins the ebay auction for Glossy Green Mug #17.

I made a mold today of Carson's brother... "Kaikaina" I've got less than two weeks to make a few Artist proofs for Oasis. No Booth so if you want one of my mugs you'll have to track me down.

Pictures coming soon!

M

Here is the sculpt for the new mug. Hopefully the quality of each new mugs improves and I get better and learn the process. I'm going to work hard this week to get a few done to bring with me to Oasis.
I took photos of the mold making process. I'll post them later if you want to see them.

MauiTiki and I will be working hard all weekend, here's some pictures of the progress....

More Glazing tomorrow then well fire them all up...
More picture's to come when there all done...

Whoo Hoo! Thanks for posting the pics! Your glazes are amazing! Save that sheet where your wrote down the combinations. I showed them to Abi and she says "Mug-O-Rama".

The last of the mugs will be ready to come out of the kiln at lunchtime, it's down to 200 degrees already!

M

Here are the last few out of the kiln... The one in front is ready for his nose bone and real carved bone necklace.

Sweet!

Hoooo... braddah!! Those came out out great.... I'm loving the glazes, Can't wait to see the one with the bone...
I think I'm going to need a new shelf after Oasis....

M

Back on page 5 you can see that the Bunny attacked my mug, well this time she jumped into the slip bucket. Darn rabbit really wants to do ceramics!

the water in the tub turned gray with clay.

Aloha, I've been working hard on bowls and pendants, but I wanted to alert everyone that I have finally put a few mugs up for sale on my website. There are still a few of the original Limited Edition mugs left and new customs. These are just a few of what is available on the site...

Gotta love that cute bunny !

Hey Maui Tiki look what I did with the bisqued fish face you sent. I had a lot of fun, thank you, Wendy

M

Gecko has finished his Custom Carson Mug and sent me these two photos. Our deal was, one for me, one for him and one for eBay. Not sure who gets this one, but it's pretty cool. I'm checking it out closely and am going to attempt something similar. It will never come close to his, but I'm learning.

LT

Gek's The Man!

M

OK Gecko, here is my first attempt to be like you. A little too glossy, but still cool. I have a plan for some more "wood-like" matte finish glaze. I poured the mugs last night, I'll clean them up this week.

LT

Very nice job!

E

Agreed - very nice job!

I LOVE these mugs! I saw them LiVe and the pictures don't do them justice...
My favorite's so far... Great job braddah Rob!

M

I have 4 similar to this, 2 Carson and 2 Kaikaina. They may make it to eBay next week! I'll keep you posted. Still fine tuning the technique. What do you think?

S

They're looking great Rob. Colour and added detail really work. My only suggestion is, although I don't know how much more work it is, I think all the islands on the back should be raised and in green. It's an excellent idea unique to your mugs.

I like the raised Maui as well, maybe not green for all but after all...... you are "MauiTiki"...
This new glaze is great and the detail is awesome... I really like the red contrast...

Thanks, Robbie and Scott

On the Kaikaina the island is 3-d, but on the Carson mugs it's just the outline, unless I take the time to modify it after it comes out of the mold. I need to remember to add the green underglaze first. It looks great with a hint of green. I'm hoping to test a few more like this over the Holiday break. These are still slightly too glossy, but I'm close!

I am selling my latest matching set of one-of-a-kind Custom carved mugs on eBay. These mugs were detailed by hand with matching designs and are my best mugs to date. Still trying to save $$ for a kiln! You won't be disappointed, these mugs are awesome and flawless. Auctions start at only 99 cents!

THANKS!

Couple more days left on the auction. TC members get a free Tiki pendant if they win, just let me know you saw them here! I'd be stoked to sell them to a fellow TC member with an Ooga-Mooga account, so they will stay online for all to see.

Good luck.

These are mugs GORGEOUS Mr. Maui. I hope bidding goes crazy before the end of the auction, because they are definitely worth a lot more than the price they are at now.
GROG love, the design, the detail, and the glaze colors. Good luck.

M

Oooh One side note...(between you and me)... On the back of the Carson mug there is a little dot where I live on the island of Maui. See it?

24 hours left in the auction.

Very Cool mugs Rob, Top shelf kine... AWESOME!

Got my Carson mug when on Maui in November - great mug - nicely done with lots of detail!! Nice & big, too :D

Get yours while you can!

M

I have 4 more that are my new "best mugs to date"! Just came out of the kiln yesterday. I'm loving these new glazes. 3 layers of my special mix. They came out better than expected, I'm fired up to keep moving forward with this type of glazing. The two with the lighter teeth have a sandpaper like texture that picks up the light and makes them look gray at the right angle. The photos don't do them justice.

I'll probably keep two and to will hit ebay before too long. I'll keep you posted.

And the next set of two...

M

OK, I have listed a pair of my "Wood-grain" mugs on eBay. Sorry it took so long. I've got some new designs in the works so I don't know how many more of these I will make and sell. So get yours now if you want one!

These mugs are really cool and look like wood!

Thanks for looking!
