Just love the lighting on "Ku Tiki at the Tropicana Lanes"
and can't wait to see that shrunken treat you were working on during Friday's Artjam/Blaxploitation fest!
You are making those colored pencils your bitch!
right on....

"To Serve Man"

Cool! One of the best Twilight Zone episodes ever!

I weep at how damn good U R now!
I'm proud to know that your piece and my piece are hanging side by side in a very kool new tiki bar in Kailua-Kona. Da' okolemaluna lounge. Best drinks and best decor!

Great stuff. About all I can say is I don't see anything I don't like.

Hey Doug, will you be selling prints of "Ku Tiki at the Tropicana Lanes"?
Love it!

Whatta batch of cool work!

I super-dig the map, but the rest are so great I can't imagine picking a fave.

If this keeps up my house is going to be filled with Doug's art. I'm running out of walls here.

Still recovering from Tiki Oasis...where's the Tylenol.

Some newer pieces I've done including a new digital painting with some step by step images. It's been over a year since I've done a digital piece and I've been working on this one off and on for the past few months. I wanted to keep a lighter color pallet on it.

Here is the full finished image, painted in Photoshop.

"The Hijacking of Sputnik 13"

This is the original rough sketch with the start of the idea.

This is the color study done in pencil on paper.

Here is the image built in Illustrator. I keep the shapes flat and contrasty so when I bring it into Photoshop I can easily select
areas and paint within the selected shape. At this point I can refine with the basic color scheme.

Here is the final painting again, painted in Photoshop.

Beautiful work Doug! The three-dimesionality of Oceanic Mask is amazing! Also, it never occurred to me to lay down flat colors in Illustrator for a digital painting. I go from sketch to scan to photoshop. Your way seems to make much more sense to me now!

Excellent work Doug. I especially like the '55 Olds Holiday Coupe Conv. I had to sell my Super 88 4dr years ago.

Hijack really cool kind of perfect :) your awesome Doug

Hijacking of Sputnik looks like it'd need to be a 48" print to appreciate it!!

Hells a popping! Great!
