worst songs in the world

Pages: 1 31 replies

Ok, I'll go first:
Anything by Johnny Cash or Bob Dylan.
Next...

How about: "Drop Kick Me Jesus Thru the Goal Posts of Life" ?

Or "She Has Freckles on Her, But She is Pretty" ?

And my all time favorite worse song is: "You're A Hard Dog to Keep Under The Porch" !!

Darn that Weird Al Yankovic, I actually used to never miss his show, tuned it in on FM!

Any national anthem.

I think the band Country Porn has them beat:
"Asshole From El Paso"
"Cum Stains On The Pillow (Where your Sweet Head used to Be)"
"Dry Humping In The Back Of A '55 Ford"
And many more that you probably wouldn't want to listen to. But if you do, look Here (NSFW).

D

'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' by The Tokens. There aren't many songs from the Oldies catalog that I hate, but I can't fuckin stand that song.

Wow, I cannot belive that someone actually hates Johnny Cash. I can understand Dylan getting on your nerves, but Johnny Cash? I am befuddled. :)

For me, anything by Journey, almost ALL New country music and pop music. Oh and anything involving Stevie Nicks...

T

We Built This City on Rock and Roll!

... anything by nine inch nails or hoobastank...

I forgot about my all time favorite worse song. This has horrible lyrics and a very catchy tune. My son used to play it over and over. 'Til I started playing it too... Check out the awful song "Lipstick" by Guttermouth:

http://www.metrolyrics.com/lyrics/44162/Guttermouth/Lipstick

And then there is pretty much any song by The Queers. When we lived in Guam we played "This Place Sucks" over and over. A great tension breaker when the kids are whining because once again Burger King or Taco Bell are only offering half their menu because a ship didn't come in with supplies... And then "Kicked Out of the Webelos" by The Queers is fun. Pretty much any song that begins with the classic: "ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR!!!" is going to be bad...

PS I love Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. Had played music by both of them the day I saw this thread.

Pretty much any song that begins with the classic: "ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR!!!" is going to be bad...

I would have to strongly disagree with you on this...Most of the Ramones songs start out that way and they are truly classic songs...:)

But given that you hate the Queers and the fact that they would have never existed if it wasn't for the Ramones, I think you might disagree with me on this...:)

Hey Cool Manchu!

I don't hate The Queers, or any band really.... I just think some of the songs qualify as "THE WORSE".

Yes, the world would be a sadder place had there never been the Ramones!

I guess technically we've been spared the really bad songs, because no one would buy them.

I listen to a wide variety of music. Maybe this should be why songs are the worse! What sets them apart...

The first thing that pops into my mind...

I vaguely remember a band called LAKE. it was the late 70s, early 80s, around that time. There was a song that got airplay on the radio. To me it was like fingernails on a chalkboard. Whenever that song came on I had to change the station. I think it is the only song by lake that I ever heard, but it was so bad that I was never tempted to listen to any of the others.

Probably not the worst ever, but that was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the thread.

:music: ... Babe I'm leavin' ... :music:

DZ

Gee-- how 'bout any song from this entire 8-page thread of 'worst songs'?

"Free Fallin"! That song M-Fing SUCKS!!!!
..."cuz I'm free....2....3....4....5....free fallin". GOD THAT BLOWS!!! Just one more dumb song in a long line of dumb Tom Petty songs.

That song from Chubawumba that goes:..."I get knocked down, then I get up again, ain't no one gonna keep me down"... is freakin lame too!

And anything Bruce Springsteen has ever done or will do in the future.

Johnny Cash is like the Emperor's New Clothes: It's "cool" to say you like him cuz he wears black, has a deep voice, looks tough, never smiles, plays live concerts for murderers and rapists, etc...but deep down you know he sucks because HE CAN'T WRITE A SONG TO SAVE HIS LIFE, "SINGS" MONOTONE AND OFF KEY!!! C'mon people, the Emperor has no clothes on.

That was then, this is now.

Hey Jude

Hey Jude

Sorry S-Wreck-J, The Beatles are exempt from this thread as they are THE single greatest band on God's green earth. Even their (arguably) worst song "Yellow Submarine" is still a pretty damn good song, all things considered.

I knew this reply would draw fire and I love most of the Beatles music myself (having grown up in that era) but the song Hey Jude is just waaaaay too long and suffers from overexposure. Sorry.

I will agree that it has a length issue and it's been played to death, but nevertheless it's still a good tune. NOW TAKE IT BACK!!

"TONIGHT I CELEBRATE MY LOVE" by Peabo Bryson and Roberta Flack

"SO EMOTIONAL" - Whitney Houston

"I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY" - Whitney Houston

"YOU DECORATED MY LIFE" - Kenny Rogers

"THE CAPTAIN OF HER HEART" - Double

okay how about that god awful song by john denver(I think), called good morning star shine......arrrghh!! I really hate that song!!

J

My wife listens to 80's music and I make her turn the station anytime that Boy George's "I'll tumble for you" comes on. Its not bad enough that the song sucks, but he sings that friggin' line so many times in a row its just really annoying!!!

C

Oh I LOVE ME SOME "I'll Tumble For Ya"!
My vote goes to "Penny Lover" by Lionel Ritchie, "Everybody Wang Chung Tonight" by you guessed it Wang Chung, and "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" by Wham. Oh and their other song with the line "guilty shoes have got no rhythm".

Has anyone heard any "Jawaiian"(Jamaican Reggae/Hawaiian/Oldies) Music yet?
All blows. We're forced to listen to it, at, work, all day long.
They keep it on for only one purpose.
Keeps the Security Guards awake.

S

Any freakin newer(like 1970 and up) country music...

T

Beach Boys 'Kokomo' drives me 'round the bend something fierce!

I've found that the only way to survive an encounter with "KOKOMO" is to make up my own lyrics for the chorus. For example:

*BAHAMAS, BARBADOS,
I LIKE TO EAT POTATOES

MONTEGO, BERMUDA,
I'M FATTER THAN THE BUDDHA*

etc. The possibilities are as endless as the number of times your average radio station insists on playing this song.

Sabu

That's so funny. Coincidental, too, when combined with another recent thread here. This morning a friend of mine sent me a wmv file of a song parody of KOKOMO. It was called "I See Your Camel Toe."

You're Camel Toe
It looks so right so baby let it show
Looks like a Big Taco
I see you're Camel Toe
