YO Choppers!
Once again we will taking our carving party out in to the public for this month's carving adventures. And this time, there is a huge party in our honor!

Hot Rod Surf and Tikiland have combined forces to bring a spectacular holiday extravaganza to the Tiki and Custom Car Culture People of the World. We will carving at the annual Hot Rod show/bbq that Hot Rod Surf has thrown for the last several years. This year, TikiLand has partnered up with them and will be having a combined Tiki Sale/carving demonstration and BBQ.

Additionally, all carvers will be able to vend tikis and tiki related merchandise at the party, free of charge. We'll set up a bunch of tiki huts and have ample space to vend from. So bring all your finished crap and "limited edition" glazes.

Random stuff of interest:
Last I heard, Deadbolt was the live band...

The show officially starts at 12, but all Hot Rod guys and Tiki carvers can show up to set up as early as 9-10am, if you so desire.

Free parking across the street at the sports arena.

And as always, new carvers welcome! Just ask and we'll set you up with a log.

The address is 3770 Hancock st. Take 5 south to rosecrans, turn right on Hancock at the big nudie bar sign-"les girls" then follow hancock until you see the Boat store and a land rover place on the left, right behind the sports arena parking lot.

There is an official event thread, and this chop thread, so let's keep all chop crap on this thread.

See you all there!!

Buzzy Out!

Just for the record, I had nothing to do with picking this date. Plus, there's no way I'm missing the opening night of your show. I'll be doing a lot of driving that day.

Just for the record, Hot Rod Surf picked the date, and at the time nobody knew there was a 3 Kings show that day.

That's the only day Deadbolt can play; it's a bit of a busy season for them.

We need matter transporters. Like cel phones, it would solve everything.

woohoo a chop! i can finaly break in my new chisels! so buzzy, did you want us to like "rsvp" for a log, or jut show up and find you?

What a Whineybaby!
You'd be better off carving and painting than cryin about overlapping dates!
Back to your Cave and no Sniffling!

You don't understand...it's not just the chop......it's the MUSUBI!!!!

MUSUBI!!!! Mieko was absent at the last chop, man.......no Musubi. I'm having withdrawls!

For this event, just for shits and giggles, lets all put $1000. to $3000. pricetags on our stuff and mark it as "sold", just so people think that our stuff sells for that. That would be really funny shit, especially for a newbie like myself.

Well, if Kate's making it to both events, maybe I can send some musubi with her. :) We'll miss you Dave, but congrats!!

Yeah, really Clybro, yours sounds like a REAL art show. You gonna walk around in a paint splashed smock and a beret, railing against the establishment and swigging cheap wine from a wineskin?

Hey, speaking of wine, I'm bringing the bottle Otto gave us from Oasis, the rest of the Kava (lots) and at least 5 other bottles of various Red Zins, Pinot Noirs & Merlots, mostly aged 6 years or more. So we'll have something to go with the BBQ'ed hot doggies.

Say goodbye to 2006 in style, for as the sun sets on lovely Tikiland we'll wave Aloha to our friends and promise to return one day....

Sipping wine from a wineskin, you say? How very BEAT, man. I'm all over that. Tomorrow is the Desert chop, guys. The M&Ms are coming out and we're carving in the shop of our 2 acre ranch out here. I already have one tiki that I've started and almost finished in this cold desert solitude. It's very Zen out here if you stay away from Laughlin and the casinos. I'll post pics!

Oh Crap!

We're having a rager up at our place on that weekend too!

the Hamones, Perry Ferral and some Mariachis are playing.

Damn.

Poor planning I guess.

Sponsored by L&L (food), Mr. Kegs(beer) and Sailor Jerry (rum) too!

All free and vending too.

Oooo. That was some sneaky spam there.

shit now what.....? :P

No worries, man. San Diego has more than enough people to fill this event, 10 times over. Deadbolt has a huge draw now that they only play here like twice a year and the hotrod and tiki cultures are stacked up with enthusiasts in SD. We'll miss you, but we'll be packed nonetheless. Any missed opportunity to drink with Bamboo Ben is a shame. See you next time, Ben!

Hey, now that I'm free to fart around for a while, you folks mind if I bring the boy to this one? I still have the wife working on saturday nites.

Oh yeah! Come on down Tbirdman, and bring the little one too. It's in a parking lot, so you may need a chair or something comfy for him to hang out in. We'll have some L+L bbq if the little gets hungry. Carve up and bring a bunch of them pendants, errr... I mean tiki tree ornaments to sell while you're there. You got the time now, right? It will be nice to see another one of our LA area brothers there.

Birdman: Did you also know that you can not only do your Xmas shopping at the event, but can also go directly across the street to hundreds of new and used product vendors at the San Diego Kobeys I Pay One Center Sports Arena Swap Meet? Well let me tell you, not only is this a musical and Hot Rod extravaganza, it also will fit in nicely with your Holiday shopping necessities by being in immediate proximity to a large one stop shopping venue. Admission to the swap meet is $1, and parking is always free. You can pretty much wrap up all your holiday shopping in about two hours! Imagine that! At no other SoCal(Haha! Crud  ) tiki event that day will you be able to have the advantage of this added attraction. Oh the convenience!

Buzzy Out!

SWEET! Thanks Buzz! Hey, would there be a problem if I brought a set of Chevy heads and a few other hot rod items to sell while there?

Cammo made some extra special passes so that extra special people can get extra special stuff that people without these extra special passes cannot get:

We can now be distinguished!

Tell Cammo how many you need. Thank you!

Buzzy Out!

LT

Are these available to everyone?

C

We call these the "Backstage Passes".

We may have catered L&L Hawaiian food, wine, hot doggies, etc. and these passes let you in on it. How about putting numbers on 'em and raffling something off?

They're for Tiki Choppers and TC Ohana, we've got a limited amount so PM me your address and I'll send some out!

Hey, I may need a couple of heads here pretty soon. Are they rebuilt and crack free? Fit on my 350?

So, you all gonna see a Deadbot show, aha, aha, I see...

Gosh darn it! You all getting it so easy-peasy...

They played only one gig in germany a while ago about 700 km away from here, argh.

Have fun with the chop.tok-tok

Hey, Tok-tok........they used to play San Diego so often before Harley moved to Arizona, that we all quit showing up.

T

I might be able to make this one. Put me down as a tentative yes. I'll bring the cooler with water this time. Anyone want to bring some sodas?

any word of who the other bands might be????

Thanks
Jeff(bigtikidude)

They'll probably sneak the suck-ass "Creepy Creeps" in there. They always piggyback on good SD shows like parasitic lampreys and suck just as hard.

Big(Tiki)JeffDude: Did I spell that right? I'll go down and ask the hot rod surf dudes tomorrow. They were closed and i didn't see them down there last week to ask. Probably the holiday vacation because they said they have a bunch of car shows right now.

Bambiben: Here's my idea of "good" event planning:" Hey, I hear there's a tiki sale with a hot rod show and a band down in san diego on december 15th, I think I'll do the same thing! Whatever! I guess your show will be my "last chance" to get a Tiki Oasis pendant, right? Oh well guess I'll miss it. Oh wait, maybe I'll go to to the Tonga Hut the week before, where all the LA vendors will be, surely with product in hand. And Ben, you should have that guy who did the long beach thread 10 months in advance announce your event too. Then people might actually hear about it, other than from on our thread, that is.

Oh yeah RevyBaby, a good plan to make sure all your tiki buddies would surely come to your event was to have a limited run "event mug."
oops! lloks like you didn't think of everything...

I did :)
Presenting the
TikiLand/Hot Rod Surf BBQ Event Mug:

this is the artist's proof in a test black lettering.

The ones at the event will have a more tropical brown lettering.

It's a tribute to my mug, this mug is. It even has the forehead scars!

Extremely limited run. Only available at the event. $20 each.

Tikiland will announce it officially on the other thread tomorrow.

Buzzy out!

C

I VANT dat MUG! I VANT it BAD!

But Kate probably beat me to it.

Hey, what are those three weird marker stipes on the Event Mug forehead, and the three on the bottom? Is that your secret Buzzcode, or are you just testing the sharpie before you use it?

And - I've got exactly 21 Backstage Passes left, PM me quick to get some. These could be your Tickets to Paradise. You don't need these to get in, it's all free anyway, but we're inventing sneaky stuff to do with them ....

who knows, maybe theyll throw on zombie surf camp, seems like a perfect opener for deadbolt, but who knows. your probobly right about the creeps though, they do seem too "piggyback" on allot of shows...

B

Choppers,

Looks like I just crossed the finish line on this Hot Rod Chop...I will be traveling again during this time :(

I know you cats have a barbeque all set to go, but if you would like to use the hot dog cart while I'm away that's cool. I leave on the morning of the 7th and will be gone over a week on this one, so it would have to store down at Tikiland while I'm away...Just let me know.

I'm real bummed about missing this Chop. It looks like it's going to be a killer time!

Buzzy - event mug - don't quit your day job brother.

Not cool talkin' shit about the Creepy Creeps.
It bummed me out when I read those comments.

I just got these in the mail today. My first set of teeny tiny chisels.

I'll be carving SMALL in December. :)

I still think they stink outloud, man. Sorry to offend if they're your mates and I'm sure they're all really swell guys, but I freakin' hate 'em, Cool or not.........and that wasn't "talkin' shit", I'll scream it from the mountains. I don't say anything behind someones back that I would't RATHER say to their face.
