I live on the East Coast, but lived in HB for 3 years and now I am kicking myself for leaving! I am wondering if it is ok for me to pass this info along to a friend of mine who lives out in Cali and may be interested in attending? She needs some new friends and everyone here seems pretty friendly.

As long as she's not a spectator and is willing to participate, it's okay by me. She should bring firewood or a Tiki to burn, or food or drink to share, etc. Is she even in to this whole Tiki scene? Hey, wait a minute, this is your first post? You need to go introduce yourself over here:

I was shocked that I won such an esteemed trophy last year for my tiki to burn . Ill have to add something to the trophy now and hand it off to this years winner . Then that winner will have to add to it and so on . Get carving folks . You dont know what will happen . Pele herself showed up in the fire of my tiki . I was blown away at this pic .

I'd love to join ya for a little while - being the weekend before Oasis I'll probably have a lot to do getting ready, but will also probably need a break and it's pretty close for me. Any particular hours when you guys will all be there? All day and all night?

Sorry I just did. I'll let them know if they come they can't just gawk.

First it was one person, now it's more than one? Exactly how many people are you planning on 'inviting'?

Does it really matter? It's the beach. :)

No silly, Huntington only looks like that on the the 4th of July. :D No joke. But honestly, how many people would one gal bring that would like to make "a few more friends." I wouldn't expect her to show up alone. Let's just hope it's not Suzie Huntington who had to be escorted off the property at the Nooner. Anyone meet ole' Suzie (nut job) Huntington? :D

Did I just hear Bong say, Burn, Burn, Burn? Or was that the sound of the Tiki Drums calling all TCers, Lurkers, Family, & Friends to join in at The International Tiki Day Beach Burn? If your interested post here and keep your eyes open for more details as the date approaches. Last year was a Blast... if you couldn't make it last year you won't want to miss out this year.

is she the lady that does so so drawings and tries to sell them to you?
I've seen her in Long Beach, Huntington, Newport, and Laguna beaches.
that lady gets around.

I think we're in this year, no tikis to burn but I do have a garage full of old wood shingles. And a nondescript bucket to fill with down-low-mai-tais. And red Solo cups - the international drinking vessel of the down-low cocktail.

WooHoo!! The Beach Burn is justaround the corner.

Hey - How 'bout making a new thread for the 2009 Burn? 90% of this thread is old news (it's hard to tell if someone is going this year or already went last year unless you look closely at the date of the post..), and the title is totally confusing (August 8, 2009 - Pictures on page 5! Huh??)

:-?

Just curious: How did my coveted trophy for winning (OK, tieing, with Martiki...) the 'Zombie Taste-Off Contest' at Oasis IV become a prize for the Beach Burn?? I know I gave it up to The Drunken Hat (winner of the Oasis V 'Grog Taste-Off Contest' in 2005), but I lost track of it after that.

Anybody know the 'change-of-hands' sequence?

DR. Z - SoccerTiki and I won that "Best of Show Trophy" from Otto for the Best Decorated Room at Oasis four years ago :) I added a few personal touches.
So are the Jello Molds out and ready to go??? WooHoo!!

BTD-How about you show up this year and find out for yourself!!!

Soccer,
I just might do that.
I was gonna go to the Blue Hawaiians at the Farmers Market in LA.
but when I heard that Gary Brandin wasn't gonna be with them on sat.
my plans changed to Don's for that night.

If I come to the Burn, will you come to Don's?

by the way I was at the Beach all day yesterday, Sun.
doing my own Burn(skin that is)
where were you?

R

and for those of you who are easily lost or high (I'm talking to you...well Hell, there are too many of them to name)
Remember:
Enter the parking lot at Beach Blvd and go to the left towards the STATE BEACH entrance. If you go to the right, you enter the CITY BEACH entrance. Not a big problem, but you will have more walking to do.

Anyway, once past the State Beach pay-booth. The first lot will be closest to the burn. Depending on how soon people get there and stake claim to the fire pits, it is usually very close to Tower 15.

Aloha!

[ Edited by: Riptide 2009-08-07 18:10 ]

Going to bed now so we can be up and at the entrance when it opens in the morning to get the first fire pit...
WoooHooooOOOooooooooo!

WoooooooHooooo! I'll be there with the boys later in the day and my "other" boy will hopefully be able to join too.

Have bike basket, will travel....with dish to share. :) The weather has been beautiful. Water temp dropped a bit. :( But, the trade off is the amazing moon rises we've been treated to over the last few evenings. Stunning! Summer nights....nothing better in So Cal.

Aloha!
