Woofmutt's First Carving

So I had this old tree lyin' 'round the house...

And inspired by all the great carvers here on Tiki Central I thought I would try my hand at carvin' a Tiki...

I got an old chainsaw from dad...

Sure was a lotta wood chips...

The cat was curious...

Woofmutt, was that first carving of the look on your face when the tree fell? Looks like one of those Big Foot fellas.. :lol: I know it still must have been a lot of work to get it looking good. I can't wait to see what my first tiki will look like. :lol: Of course it probably wood end up in the wood pile with the other wood chips.. Wasn't this thing just up for sale? The wife didn't want it around?

Yes! I Loved the story too and the curious cat checkin it all out and the bird wonderin what you did to its nest? But the Chainsaw hand-me-down says it all.Was that shot AFTER you were done makin that pile of chips? :P Funny story depending on if you are from Texas or New Orleans
As for the carving if it weren't for the "Chicklet teeth" you could post this over in creating tiki, but alas he will be forever banned to the halls of bilge. However after looking into the tiki carving section he may well fit right in! Excellent tiki there mutt. Try to work more on the traditional side for the next one. Now that you are a seasoned carver, there WILL be More, Right?? :D

i believe that is the florida-style sasquatch... i am sure that there are many people who would like to buy such a sasquatch, but around here we prefer the classic midcentury sasquatch. i would suggest you look at the offerings of appalachian arts, maybe read the book of bigfoot (BOB)

Haha Book of Bigfoot!!!! its a must read for any Bigfoot aficionado. Of course its good to reinterpret the real old stuff, but Im sure with a little practice you could come up with your own fresh interpretation. and g be a big splash on the modern Bigfoot scene I'm sure its the next big-thing for all the galleries.. When will the first Bigfoot mugs come out? will Bigfoot Farm be making them?

Your tearing it up brother! That first carving really has a "BIG" presence. He must be 4 "FOOT" tall? You RAWK master Woof!

I am also quite jealous of the fact that you have the new model FX2010 water cooled, split action, turbo, combination chain saw and concrete saw. Thank goodness it has that compass built into the handle!

That tiki would look right at home next to a toilet on your front lawn. Maybe you could carve
a magazine rack on the side of it's head to hold your favorite reading material (Enquirer, People,
Quilting World, Cat Fancy).

I really got bit by the carvin' bug and had these great plans and dreams of sellin' my artwork from my own lil piece of dirt and gravel along a highway somewhere and then this happened:

Quite a set back. Quite a lotta blood, too. I took a buncha pictures of the bandages to show yuh all but they got deleted. Here'a squirrel though:

There was a long wait at the emergency room but fortunately I had my pocket knife and one good hand...

...And I pulled a small branch outta my upper arm and carved these:

I gave 'em to the emergency room staff. They thought it was funny.

The doc says I got a lotta options fer a new hand, but I already know what I want:

Useful as heck and obviously chicks dig it!

You could sell your chainsaw design to the big car companies... I'm guessin it gets very high gas mileage with the piston totally exposed...

Sorry about throwing that tree on your house, but I wasn't in a very good mood that day.

My first Working Wood the Woofmutt Way workshop wrapped up last night. Of the original seven people enrolled only three stuck it out to the end. (I guess the others just couldn't hack it!)

Though their skill levels are similar I was really impressed with the diversity of styles.

These tikis are for sale on the Craigslist. You should take this chance to buy a real piece of work from up and coming carvers.

You can express your opinions however you like. Artists are rarely thin skinned people prone to flying off the handle. And I doubt TC people would make a big deal out of something as small as an opinion they don't agree with. But more importantly I don't care what people think of my workshop attendees' work as long as the attendees keep paying me the $150 fee to attend. And $75 for supplies.

Count me in for the curious cats and blow up dolls workshop!
