How do you get the bevel on the seams, and the corners of your mold? File it down?

L

Oh man I hope that mold works out and lets you at least get a good number of mugs out of it.

B

LLT- We've got Dean and Hank Venture on our side! Yeah man, it's revolution time!

GROG-These are the tools I used to bevel the plaster, and I've written them in your own language:

For people who don't speak GROG, that's knife, Sureform, and Saw. First you hack off the corners with the saw, but be very careful because the mold can break if too much is cut off. Then make nice smooth bevels using the Sureform or knife. Fun fact: That saw belonged to my grandfather and it's over 100 years old!

The reason for the bevels is to give the mold a rounder shape to better accommodate strapping the pieces together. Less chance of a corner breaking off if there is no corner. It also makes the mold lighter and enables it to dry out quicker. The bevels at the parting line make it easier to open. GROG make mold?

leleliz: Thanks! Keep your fingers crossed!!

GROG help make a couple of molds years and years ago to make a ceramic robot arm for a Papermate commercial for Mexico. But, GROG would like to try and do another mold of a mug. Maybe soon while GROG on hiatus.

Start pourin' dem babies. GROG want to see some greenware.

Thanks for visiting, peoples!

mp- Thanks, Mike. Oasis here we come!

pdrake- Yeah, it's almost as if I knew what I was doing!

benella- Merci! You are da Man too!

GROG- Yep, creating depth is what it's all about. Squid did a fab depth job on his too.

Benz- I think you've gone through the entire dictionary now. Stop! Yer embarrisin' me! :)

LLT- Better than TriBBles! Mugs! But I think the Tribbles multiplied faster.

Clarita- Gracias! I wish I could go nuts with the glazes, but if I did that I would be glazing until next year! I'm going for one or two colors only. The copy I'm planning to keep for myself will probably be the nutsy glazed one. :)

leleliz- Oh no! Your subconscious is being controlled by a mug! Did you awaken shaken? :)

I'm planning on casting 25 of these and having them done in time for Oasis. Then it's KAPUT! for the mold. I pulled out number 22 today...

Thanks for stopping by.

The transformation into the WAR PIG commenced!

Nothing signifies Tiki quite the way a Black Sabbath song can, right? :)
