After helping to teach a friend of mine to carve over the last few weekends...I got the bug again. 37.5" X 11" Dia Palm Screaming Marq holding a Moai skull Rough work is done. Finish work will be another 3 hrs or so, then on to tinting & sealing. I have 10 or more logs that are fresh. Mahalo! Tis a brave man who wears the kilt in January. MerTiki #4 headed to Sparcoat land... Screaming Marq's 2nd coat of of Spar after rough steel wool scrubdown. 1 more Matte varnish coat after this one is 000 wooled. |

Nix, I carve with burrs, shaping wheels and Lancelots. I had fun with this lil McMark... Of course a shot for Dr. Benz with stain... Wood was in a big box Hardware Store as a 2" Dowel. Thought I would try a different wood than Palm for a change. You can get so much detail into a deciduous or evergreen wood than can be had with Palm. Thanks again for looking! Mahalo! McTiki |
