Many mahalos to all the supporters, patrons, cohorts and critics... I stained this Tiki carved of earpod. He's a little more than 2 feet tall and needs another coat after the rain lets up. Mahalo for looking. |

I love the things you've done with the realistic toes and the cubist legs, that's a very nice creation. The stain definitely makes it. Benjamin. |

surfintiki thanks, them toes just kinda popped out there. tiki beat by marcus thorn, Mahalos for the kind words. Lake Surfer, Mahalo man vintage is what I wanted so I guess it worked. Your marqs always look killer so it means a lot coming from you. Thanks for the compliments. Benzart, Feeding the Tiki's is strictly kapu they only require sacrifice of flesh and blood. Thanks for the props. Howland Thanks I like the dark stain too. BasementKahuna posted a recipe for dark stain I been meaning to try. benella- The dark stain helps to hide the worm holes  More to come soon. Mahalo for looking. |

Wow. On your way to killing it with these guys also. Loving the palm Marquesan! A nice flat piece with plenty of thickness to get some killer depth out of. You've got the Kona Style down to an art for sure and it shows in the second piece. Tight, tight tight! The third piece is a nice way to mix it all up. Classic Poly Pop stylings! Looks like a vintage piece off of a Southern California apartment building! All wonderful work to be proud of! Very inspiring! Love your wood selections for each piece also... well thought out!!! Mahalos Benzart, 4WDtiki and LaoJia, The wood is African Mahogany and is a real pleasure to work after carving that stone like Monkey Pod (albizia saman) and burled Mango. I bought the wood and I usualy prefer free Maui grown material but there is something to be said for kiln dried wood. Mahalos for looking I'll post some more shots after it's finished. So what's good carvin wood that grows local? Palms? I never would have guessed that monkeypod is real hard. I only see the bowls and stuff in the thrift stores, and they're smooth and light, I figured it would carve like butter! |
