Dave I love the monkey but dam that Ku is talking to me! Awesome as usual braddah...

B

That monkey rocks da house Sir B!

I like MD's words for the cocktail that goes in it..."dead on impact"

I think the "Dead on Impact" cocktail should include Tang and a floating cube of freeze dried ice cream

Z

good lord that is awesome!
monkeys and spacesuits - ROCKIN'!

Wow!
Space Monkey and Mighty Ku!
So that's what has been keeping you busy!
Your brain wheel must have 5 hamsters running in tandem constantly!

Always a joy to see your new stuff,Dave
you never disappoint!
Merry Christmas!

Bowie's Da Bomb!

B

Hey OceaOtica, MDM, LOL, leleliz, Beachbumz, Babalu, Zerotiki, LLT, GROG, and Lee, thanks for the comments! (and for the no comment, swizzle) :) You guys are funny!

Here's the glazed Space Monkey. Okay, he won't be named Albert then. Seems to be bad luck.

I don't know what name to give him. Suggestions? Houston, we have a problem!!

Here is the glazed Mighty Ku:

These both came out very well I think. Glazing ceramics can be a hit or miss operation.
Thanks for firing them, Babalu!

...and thank YOU for visiting :)

Yo later,

Bowie

S

They both came out very well indeed Dave, nice work.

Mighty Ku
AND
a Space Monkey!
Dang Dave...you're starting this new year out right!

Looking great, Bo-Bo!

Hey that's what you should name the chimp---Bo-Bo.

L

That Space Monkey glaze is awesome!

Give that man a banana! Awesome B'wana!

You da man sir B!

E

Wow, wow, wow - Love that Ku!

B

Thanks so much swizzle, LLT, GROG, leleliz, MDM, Babalu, and ebtiki!
I like bananas!

Finally Sunshine sees the light of day!

Another über-glaze job on this girl. I chose not to use underglazes this time. I used instead all cone 05 opaque gloss colors to try to avoid problems I've had with underglazes flaking off. These glazes have particularities of their own I found out!

Biggest no-no is try not to paint too much over different colors. Ya get the runs!

She looked like Marge Simpson after Homer hit her in the face with his make-up shotgun set on "whore". Yikes!

After some very careful enamel paint mixing, I was able to set Sunshine on the straight and narrow path to recovery!

Thanks for visiting! :)

Bowie

Looks like B'wana set his ceramic shotgun for "Absolute Genius"- AGAIN!!!

Sunshine, I'll say... She looks fantastic, a new favorite of mine!!! You have some mad skilz Bowana :D

Still batting 1000.

B

Aloha, and thanks, guys!

Here's some shots of the newest mug, "Minimalist Moai". I busted this one down to basics, which for me is a very difficult thing to do!

The mighty Moai Army grows!

This is a limited edition of 25, signed and numbered.
Gonna have 'em at Oasis, so come by and see me in Artists' Alley! :)

Thanks for visiting!

Bowie

Very cool B'wana Dave, looking forward to seeing you at Oasis

We are looking forward to seeing you at Oasis again this year. Beautiful art as always, Wendy

You, sir B are the man!

Great looking Moais Bowie!

B

Thanks, MDM, DLT, GROG, BBU, and LLT :)

Here's the latest:
Moai Bowl

I wanted it to look like stone, so I put a texture on it using real rocks (pretty clever , huh?)
The yellow-gold color on the inside gives it a nice contrast.

I'm also trying out new colors on the remaining Minimalist Moais I've got.

PINK!

And now for something completely different (that's NOT a Moai).
Sneak peek at what I'm on currently:

What looks like 3 mugs is really 1 mug. I hand built one like this several
years ago. This one is being molded with plans for a limited edition.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for posting all that goodness!

B'wana, where ya' been? It's been 9 months! Glad to see you're not completely buried in Transformer masks.
Cool Moai bowl, nice glaze and texture. It looks like a Moai figurehead for a ship! :D

LOVE THE WAY DEM MOAIS JUT OUTWARD!
par excellence,as expected....
Welcome back Bowie!

Great bowl. The perfection of those girls astounds me. What's your secret medium that you use to carve your mugs? Wendy

B

You're such a stud Bowana!! :)

The bowl is mouth watering brother!

C

Cool bowl, that texture looks great.

Don't know if it GROG' computer or the website that keeps causing GROG to have double and triple posts. Damned new-fangled technology.

Three cheers from GROG!!!

outstanding craftsmanship.

Thanks for your visit!

Boris-I dunno. You seem like a reasonable man to me.
MDM- Yep, not completely buried in Transformer masks. I'm having to dig out of Power Rangers, Simpsons, and Ninja Turtles as well!
LLT- I like the way YOU jut outward!
Wendy- If I told you the secret medium, then it wouldn't be a secret! But I'll tell you anyways: detail like that can be achieved with any hard oil based clay.
Babalu- Mouth watering to catch your drool! Thanks for firing it!
Clarita- Gracias! Saludos desde SD!
GROG- Thanks!
GROG- Thanks!
GROG- Thanks!
Sophista-tiki- Thanks very much!

I've been doing some glaze experimenting with these over the past few weeks.

Got a green one...

...and a brown one.

The white flowers were stenciled on in enamel paint after firing. I didn't have the stencil until after they were fired,
or else I would have glazed them on.

In trying to come up with the simplest color schemes that would take a small
amount of time, I learned that with this particular design there is no simple color
scheme that takes a small amount of time.

Doh!

Aloha, and thanks for stopping by :)

Bowie

S

Amazing work as usual David. Hard to pick one out of those as they both look good but i think the green wins. Makes the girls stand out more.

S

yes, I will need to own that!

Love it Dave!

B'WANA!!! Always good to see you. The mugs have a nice "grubby" vintage look to them. See you at Oasis?

Wow those turned out great. I wore my hair in all those styles in high school. I use Romo #4 so I'll just have to practice more or find mini tools to use. I think mine are too thick. Thank you for sharing that. See you at Oasis, oh MDM asked that too. Cheers, Wendy

Great colors

T

Wowza!! Those are gorgeous!

Thanks for commenting, Swizzle, SandraDee, MDM, Wendy, hang10, and ted :)
I agree with Swizzle. Green is better!
Wendy and Mike: Yep, I'll be at Oasis and dressed to kill!

Green Three's The Charm 1/1 AP on ebay now!

Dave so you are having these for sale at Oasis, right?

What else you working on?

B

I'll have a very limited number of the surfer girl mugs. They're a real pain to glaze. I'm going to post pics of what I'll be bringing as we get closer to zero hour.
