Or rather she made numerous appearances in 1960’s Spy TV shows and movies. :)

In two rare TV roles she was a guest star in “The Finney Foot Affair" episode of “The Man from UNCLE” (below left image), and in “The Moulin Ruse Affair" episode of “The Girl from UNCLE (she’s in the foreground in the below right image)…

She also put her burlesque skills to use in an uncredited role in “Our Man Flint”...

And in a more major role as a CIA operative in “The Doll Squad"...

And Revival “revisionism” aside, Tura (and Burlesque) had a direct HISTORICAL connection to TIKI as shown here…

And on an unrelated note, I found out that Tura spent her childhood years in Manzanar Internment Camp during WWII. Same as my Mom !! But I don't think they knew each other.

Also in 1965, she's Pre-Batman as well...

And here's a theory of mine. The Spy craze arguably peaked in 1965 with "Thunderball" which was the highest grossing (adjusting for inflation) Bond pic of all time. The "Batman" craze followed just months afterward.

Batman (pop-culturally) trumped Bond !!

And for what it's worth, Adam West was offered the Bond franchise after the Lazenby fiasco but turned it down.

It would be kinda cool to add Batman as an aesthetic to TO #12. He did have pulp/noir origins and was often referred to as the "Dark Knight Detective".

Also unlike James Bond, Batman actually visited a Tiki bar (at least from the outside)…

and was a Tiki himself…

Ha, ha. Just kidding. :D

But I do believe Batman did have a devolutionary impact on 1960's Spy pop culture. The TV series garnered such great popularity in 1966, that many other shows followed down that same comic book path. This was acknowledged by the producers of "The Man from UNCLE" where unlike the more serious first season, the third season of TMFU became more of a spoof to compete with the satirical nature of Batman.

And how about the post-Batman "You Only Live Twice" ?? That entry in the Bond franchise was so "comic book" in nature that it inspired the whole "Austin Powers" parody several decades later.

In the 1960's, the impact probably hit its most absurd with the Bond/Batman hybrid "James Batman" (those crazy Filipinos again !!)…

Batman killed Bond !! (or at least the arguably cooler early 60's Bond)

I guess the Crowne Plaza let people book rooms faaaaaaaaar in advance...

I just bought my TO12 tickets and booked a room. Was anyone else disappointed not to get a room with a stage view? How could they all be sold out within ten minutes? Excited to be going anyway!

Keep in mind that many booked rooms start to unbook closer to the event so be sure to get on a wait list (i think you can do so with the hotel but ask Otto/Doe for clarification) so you may be able to stay in the room you originally wanted after all.

As far as the symposium tickets those will be going on sale sometime over the next few days :)

I booked my room about 6 weeks ago and bought tickets to the event as soon as they went on sale. Now i just need to get my passport sorted and book my flights. Weekend of rum fueled debauchery here we come. :D

If booking a room with a poolside view was an option weeks ago, I sure wish someone would have let us know. Seems rather "line-cutting" for the Crowne to let people do that before the site goes live, but now I know for next year to book the day after this one ends, I guess.

Does anyone know what this years mug looks like? It must be Top Secret.

It was in this thread earlier, about mid March, a link was posted to reserve a room. The Crowne had nothing to do with it. I saw it only because I have been checking this thread almost daily.
