Hello all, so far so good...somewhat. We pulled all of my mugs
out today and only found a little hairline crack in suffering bobs
exterior. I went heavy duty on the interior glaze and Im hoping it doesnt
get any bigger. Had a mad rush glazing before the fam and I jammed down
to santa cruz for the night and Monterey Bay aquarium for tuesday.
As I was leaving the clay studio my mud buddies were loading'm up for a hi-fire.
Fingers crossed. The rest of the week Ill be trying to get some painting done for Saturday.

Kenny - What about a mpcollaberationclownmysteryvehiclething?

Leleliz - all this talk about dibs is making me hungry. I am bringing a
square bob with a cool sample glaze just for you.

Babalu - Thanks a lot man. I think what I meant is I dont know tiki well enough
to just create new, classic tikis like a lot of the talented artists here on tc.
I really take to tiki mugs for inspiration. I have to get to know Tiki better!

Jason - Thanks brother! Hopefully I will have a velvet or two to share by saturday.
Ha! Dream'n. Im glad to see you rippi'n it up lately.

Cheers

cool stuff. - put me down for a" barrel bob" and/ or "suffering bobsterd" .....

L

mmmmmmmm dibs!

I got the cashola burning a hole in my pocket already. Bring on the Bob!

See you soon!

L

Thanks again MP! Love it. Lookin' forward to getting a velvet from you in the future too. Hope you had a great time at Tikiyaki!

So some personal stuff has sidelined me for a couple of months but Im crawling back up. First of all I
want to thank everyone for the nice comments on my thread lately and a huge mahalo to everyone at the tikiyaki
show in palo alto. Holy Shit what a fun show! When I get some more time I have some pics of the show. I sold some stuff and
had a killer time vending. Eric Octobers Islander painting was the bomb. Notch"s redwood war clubs were off the hook and swinging,
tiki kaimukis mugs were sick, jungle traders tikis were awesome and I picked up one of tiki kings sweet pendants. what a night!
Thank you Otto, Rum Runner, Kahaka, Murphdog and leleliz for buying my stuff. MUCH LOVE!!! And of course thank you Tikiyaki for rockin the house!

I havent been doing much lately but I have been dropping in to read tc. it still brightens my day to peak in and see new art and read the latest.
so browsing brad parkers thread I saw he was accepted in the la luz group show. Ive tried to get in the show in years past to no avail, but this year
I have been accepted with my grommies painting. Holy Crap I dont believe it. So Brad A huge hug and thanks for the reminder. I would have forgotten.
I will see you there on Friday.

So instead of paying for shipping I decided to just pack up and come down for the show. If anybody is in the hood come by and say hello.

I got in sunday night and met eric and manuel at the Tonga Hut and chilled after the drive. Eric, Manuel, Grog, Hiphipahula, Jeremy, and Marty thanks for the fun. Also thank you chadzilla for picking up a Irwin mug. The Tonga Hut is so sweet! Today I dropped off my painting at la luz and met billy shire. Pretty cool! Too many cool books and not enough money. Today (monday) I meet the Mysterious Ken Ruzic in his hut in Orange. I hope I can survive the onslaught of crazy art bombardment. for you see, I have a very small brain. Whoa....this entrie is kinda bloggie. Anyway Ill have more coming soon.
here is an ok pic of the grommies painting for the La luz show.

Wow! Great stuff! Thanks for posting these.

L

It is seriously not fair that someone else has the Barrel & Sufferin' Bob mugs........I lose sleep at night over this mere fact. They are superb!

Love my Bob mug and I thank you for saving one for me to purchase.

Hopefully look forward to owning a Bob velvet someday as well :)

I heart MP!

Empee RULES!
Thanks again for spending so much time at the BatCave/Studio of Solitude and art-jammin last week!
You have a great brain and massive talent!
What a Blast!
AND the boy showed me some sketcharoonies of
some future projects that will
BLOW YOUR DOORS OFF!
Also worked on an octopus/auto collaboration piece for up North
with the man of the hour...
FUN! FUN!

Looking forward to when next we JAM!!!!
:)

One Last Thing...

this is an open plea to any fans/admirers of empee
to buy and send him an acid-free hard-bound SKETCHBOOK!
(and the complete Family Guy DVDs)
too many pretty drawerins to keep all scrambled in a loose pile!
Not as bad as BigToe's sketchbook/junkpile
but Toeman has spent YEARS perfecting it
and his moustachio...

Thanks Zerostreet, Liz and Kinster.
Here is "Kennies Kobrah Koop" all touched up and ready for
its new home with Kahaka and Tanya. This was the color study for
kennies trade painting. I slapped it down on wood, added a couple
more layers of paint and threw it into a frame.

Howdy Everyone, Ive had my head down all year working, parenting, and squeaking out
some art whenever I can. Now with oasis over Ive got some time to breathe. I have a
lot to post. I want to start with a trade mug for BigToe. He hooked me up with
some sweet Toe goodies at Bens garage sale and this is my end of the bargain. A
modified "Irwin" skull mug that I am really pleased with.

Here are some progress shots and some photo fun.

I brought the skull up higher and recarved the whole mug.

Bisque shot.

Finished with antique pewter glaze and food-safe
black glaze on the inside.

Some fun shots.

Enjoy BigToe!!!

More coming soon.

That really is a be-ootiful mug there, MP! That Toe is one lucky dude.

love, Love, LOOOVE that mug!!
...but you knew that. Keep making them amazing!

Killer!

Beautiful sculpt, great glaze, & very cool photography. Seems sometimes it's harder to get a decent pic than it is to make the mug :D

Bowana, Babalu, Thanks for the compliments. It was awesome chillin with you fellas in
the alley! Always good to see the treasure up close! Hangn with the likes of Bowana,
Babalu, Tobunga, Kirby and Vantiki has left me inspired and charged to get to some new work.

Kenster!!!! Thanks for buyn up a bastard bling plaque at the alley.
You're the best! Now you be nice. You and Liz need to hug it out.
Are you still up for a velvet shrunken head/kinny hut trade?

Thanks ZeroStreet, antique pewter is an awesome glaze. When in doubt, paint it black!

Here are some shots of the Maori Monster Mug. I donated this little mug to the
Tiki-Cate auction at Oasis.

I sat down with some clay one day and tried to create a Maori head without
reference. What I ended up with is a little upside-down monster mug.

At first he had legs but I didnt use sand under his feet in the kiln
and they cracked :(

His head still lives!!!!!

I used Iron oxides on the outside and food safe
lo-fire toffee glaze on the inside.

Im not sure who won this little guy, but I hope he or she
is enjoying him.

More to come.

M

It's great to see your work posted again! I love my mp pieces. :)

Love that skull mug!

T

Hey Everyone thanks for sayn hello!

Thanks Murphdog, Im glad you like your MP art. I appreciate
your support so much!

Thank you Iokona, I really like that one. Twas hard to trade that one away.

Thanks Tikigodz! I do struggle with finishes. Lo-fire antique pewter is beautiful
and comes out cool everytime.

Haole Jim, thank you and your welcome. I do having more art coming soon.

Thanks for the bump Zero. I am going to try and get something in Drews halloween
store and in the Dia De Los Muertos show at Boomerang. Also I will have
one or two new things at F.I.'s parking lot sale.

Here is a peak at the "Happy Bastard" mug. Almost dry enough for a bisque firing.
I liked grog's idea of the down turned mouth for a suffering bob so I thought the smiling
version should be the happy bastard. This guy is about 10 inchs tall and about 3/8" thickness.

This one I plan on glazing in the classib Bob colors

Thanks for look'n

resin pendants and the clay Bastards which will be
