Well...

I got home today, took out the trash and found this in the dumpster:

i thought the unthinkable, "did someone steal my tiki package???!!!?"
i dug through the box and to my dismay, yes someone did! i found these in bottom of the box:

i brought the box up to mrs. crushenstein and told her what happened. we went through every scenario we could think of and settled on that our sketchy neighbor or one of his sketchy friends must have found the box on our door step and thought they'd find something of value (to me!). well, mrs. crushenstein went over to the sketchy apartment because i was too fired up. a few minutes went by before she returned. she told me, "he says he might know who did it and he'll let us know." while figuring out who we should call about this whole thing, there was a knock at our door. it was our cutty ass neighbor holding 4 mugs. he said he found them in his closet. we still have no clue who sent them!

needless to say we are still in the process of dealing with the postal service.

however, we could not be more thrilled about getting our full (to the best of our knowledge) package back! we love the menehune swizzles, tiki oasis sticker, drader dick's mugs, harvey's bucket, and acountrements shot glass! thank you to whoever sent this wonderful package to us! please PM me if you were the one who got us! i guess next trade i'll ask that my package get sent to my work address!

Sounds like you live in my complex...every box on my doorstep seems to come up missing. Gotta love the postal service!

MAN, I'm sure glad to hear that turned out alright! I live in a house in a somewhat sketchy neighborhood and that sort of thing happens all too frequently. I try to use FedEx or UPS when I ship (or expect to receive) and rely on tracking updates to plan for arriving parcels.

oh my......Abstractiki and the tiki gods have smiled on me...

first of all........a Monkey surfer dude shot....a Monster marq mug
a Vintage Minnies napkin...a vintage Minnies order receipt..
a vintage Tropics motel postcard and a cool tiki pendant

This is indeed a monumental addition to my tiki collection.....
I drive by Minnies and the Tropics 4 days a week and i have yet to find
any vintage items from these historic tiki icons...i will find a special
spot for them.....

Well I new TC'er included some extras in this swap, and I was looking forward to the boost to my Tiki stuff collection but WOW!!!

Tobunga went beyond my wildest expectation! I opened the box in my home studio and soon found it was severely lacking the open space to view all this Tiki goodness. I moved it down stairs to the kitchen table for some photos. I love the mug, I love it all. There is so much terrific stuff here. Tobunga did such a great job on the Stockton Tiki restaurant painting. I am so impressed, he even got the Hula girl on the Tahiti Iti sign. There is only one old picture I had found of that sign and its so bad you can just barely see that it's a Hula girl on there. I had contemplated posting a new comment on that thread just to point it out. Here is pics of the whole lot and a few close ups. Thanks so much Tobunga! Mahalo!
