Nice, bright paintings that are easy on the eye. From your use of colours, I can see you like Gauguin too.

Thanks for the positive vibes regarding my art! New things to be posted soon.

Hey TikiG!

Nice work! Love the Moai painting! Have you thought about starting a Facebook Page? I have one to keep my artwork separate from pics of my kids and stuff.

Tiki G,

Actually, it may be a bit confusing, but in addition to your personal FB page, where someone can ask to be your friend (which I did by the way) there is a Fan Page you can create if you are a visual artist, musician etc. Then people become fans of that page. I have my personal FB page and them my Zerostreet FB page where I post my art.

Cool - I'll look into that tonight. Thanks for the heads up. G

My latest painting, fresh offa 'd easel:
"Hiphipahula" - acrylics on stretched canvas.
Painted for Hiphipahula Kelly Reilly, and presented to her last night (7/7/10) at Kirby's Rumpus Room. Kelly takes real good care of us and for that I'm eternally stoked.

Idea inspired by a mid-century Gilbert chemistry-set (for girls!) graphic. Enjoy!

Wow, pretty nice Greg!

Yay for G
and Yay for Kelly!
Immortalized!

Bout time you got your painting thread a going Greg!
Great vintage feel on them. You got Kellys concentration
pour down! Cool deal! Now I am getting thirsty.....

Aloha!

Friends, lend me your eyes for a second or two...I finished two paintings last night that I started over the weekend. Both could be considered studies of human form I suppose (practice, practice, practice.)

For the guys I present: "Kaimana Ehu" - roughly translated means "Diamond Dusty".
Acrylics on 12" x 16" canvas panel. I will attempt a larger, black-velvet version of this image soon.

For the ladies I present: "Alpha Male"
Acrylics on 8" x 10" stretched canvas.

Enjoy! G

Nice work G. Have fun diving into the black velvet!

C

I looove the Kelly painting, about a cool girl with a passion, I don't see enough art about that, congrats! and thanks for sharing :)

T

Thanks Clarita for the positive comment regarding Hiphipahula's painting, I appreciate it :)

I've got a few more tiki peeps portraits in the planning stage right now - not going to say who! Its a pleasure to do these as gifts for friends. G

Love the water! Looks really shimmery. And the multi scope picturing with the islands in there. Good luck with the velvets! can't wait to see more from the G.

T

Amybean - Thanks sis!! G

Great paintings G. Amy's right - excellent water work, looks like it would run off if you tilted the canvas!

I began painting this image two weekends ago at my neighbor's impromptu art jam - brought it back home and its been sitting here staring at me. Loosely done, this is what manifested...was plenty creepy until I brought up the smile and twinkle eyes...still creepy though...therefore I present -

"Shadow Tiki"
Acrylics on 14" x 18" canvas panel.
July 2010

Cheers! G

I had braids quite like that when I was young sniff

Damn! How could I forget to post the following?

For all the amusement-ride aficionados in poly-pop-land I present the following TikiG painting:

"Tilt-A-Whirl"
Acrylics on 8" x 10" stretched canvas.
June 2010

This was painted for and subsequently presented to Ken Ruzik (little lost tiki) on Sat. July 24,2010.
I know Ken absolutely loves his "Tilt" so this image proved perfect.
I love amusement-park art, its in my blood.

Enjoy! G

The Tilt-A-Whirl is already on a wall in the front/library room!
Thanks a million Greg!
it makes me smile everytime i look at it!

and that creepy smiley tiki you just finished..... love him!
Such a fun day spent on Saturday!

Here's the G-Man in action, signing my personal favorite piece !!

It's the crumbling remains of the Pacific Ocean Park (POP) in Santa Monica.

Thanks Greg, still lovin' it !! :)

Aw guys!

I'm proud when my art keeps such stellar company - and I like it when my "nuthin' fancy" stuff receives such positive and honest praise. Thanks Ken and John-O - and everyone else who has commented here or Facebook.

Kinney had nothing to say but the kindest words regarding my amusement-park paintings last Saturday afternoon, so as of today all I can say is...

...more to come :) G

YAY I FOUND YOU ON HERE!!!! Desiree here and i just posted MY tiki art too!!! Hope you like...but its the same stuff on my FB, I'll be uploading some new stuff in a day or so....

 I recognized him immediately! Great job! :D

Wow, I had no idea how many works of art you had finished. I have a lot of favorites. MadDogs right easy to tell it's Al. I thought the girl with head above water was perfection. I like the tipping over bottles to drinking tiki was good, the roller coaster terrific. There's a lot of emotion showing up in your paintings, very nice. Keep it up, Wendy

Aloha!

Here's my latest acrylic painting, not 100% tiki but definitely has our beloved island vibe. Just finished - the paint's still drying - and painted for the lady who owns a lunch truck, the lunch truck I eat off of almost everyday at work. I hope she digs it (and doesn't realize how derivative this image really is!) Enjoy! G

"Kauai Discovery" acrylics on 11" x 14" canvas board.

Cool work Tiki G! I love the sky!

Great colors! Is that a specific spot on Kauai?

T
TikiG posted on Thu, Aug 26, 2010 7:54 PM

Howdy Bill - You know?! I titled it "Kauai Discovery" 'cause it sounded good.

I guess you could say its a specific spot in my wanderlust imagination

Beautiful sunset colors and nice wave lucency.
