"I shall return"

Reserve a room for
"Flaming Tiki",
we had a blast last year,
and we survived hosting our first room crawl too!
Makeing plans to host for next years "Crawl"

A couple people have Save The Date at the beginning of their Heading title. Maybe we should all do the abbreviation thing to save time and space. Save The Date = STD and Save The Dates (multiple dates) = STDs.

Any ETA on when the details will start tricklin' in?

Always a killer event. Looking forward to this.

Details so far

Under 500 people

Lack of drama

Giving people there moneys worth

Keeping entertainment up and cost down

Focusing on the right crowd who know how to have a good time and control themselfs.

Being the best not the biggest.

T

We are in.

Under 500 people

You have me sold right there. Now where can I buy tickets?

We had an absolute blast last Caliente. Loved the smaller, more intimate vibe. We are definitely in.

C

We'll be there for sure Rory, Caliente rules!!!

Lack of drama.....

Hmmm....

This is Palm Springs.

Small western town in the desert, everyone knows everyone else or at least knows someone who knows everyone else.

Peyton Place with Palm Trees, that's what it is.

Drama.... Palm Springs is all about drama... I wish I could say more without offending people who are easily offended, but if you can read between the lines or the sheets for that matter, and if you happen to live here, then you know much of Palm Springs is usually in a constant state of DRAMA.

C

Wildsville Man you know we'll be there.
The most fun you can have in Palm Springs.

Duane

Wait, did I already say that?
Must be the side effects from Oasis lingering. lol

The http://www.tiki-caliente.com website was just updated with the new dates and the background art.

By October the mug concept and music line up will starting to be put into place.

By January we should be taking on sales or rooms with wristbands. Individual walk in wristbands will go on sale most likely in April.

Please keep your eyes open and sorry for the wait on the answer.

New information Below

I will be contacting you by January 15th. If you are interested in locking in a room please Pay by Feb 1st. Also,Vendors of the past you will also be contacted and given first right to vend at TC4. Please Pay for Vending Before Feb 1st or your spot will also be open to the general public.
General Public Sales will start on Feb 1st at 10a.m.

I look forward to seeing all my old friends and meeting some new ones this year.

The Official Mug concept and Musical Line Up’s are already being worked on.

Does "general sales" on Feb 1st mean wristbands only or still just first come first serve for the room/wristband combo?

Feb 1st will be the first chance for people to get rooms at the host hotel or the overflow hotel the Royal Sun. Rooms will come with a wristband. I will not be releasing individual wristbands for off site guest till closer to the date of the event if any are left.

If we Sell out the Travel Lodge and the Royal Sun we may not have many/any off site wristbands left.

We will not have more then 500 wristbands made. Only 500 guest are allowed,so first come first served.

We don't clam to be the biggest, only the BEST!!!!!!

Oh you know we are in on this one!

If you tell me there's no bands or fire alarms in the wee hours of the am, I think I just may have to join you for this shindig.

Listen I was at TO and we had a sweet right above the "Swanky Bastards with the late night show and was parting in the room when the fire alarm went off.

What did I think?

i felt like danny glover from lethal weapon with the line "I am to old for this shit"

Tiki Oasis is the Superbowl of Tiki and I am the first to admit that, but the Superbowl has way too many people for me.

What my focus if for Tiki Caliente and what the fan's/Friends should understand are the following.

  1. You will get entertained and get your moneys worth.
  2. I don't want riff raff or Drunks
  3. I want it to be small enough for you to get into all room parties and gets drinks at the bar quickly and have a great view of the bands. (Lines Suck)
  4. I keep the cost down for people vending so they can pass the savings to you. So BUY.BUY.BUY!!!!!
  5. I believe I will give you the best bang for your Buck

I don't want every dollar or i would allow this event to grow larger then 500

Smaller is Better, in my opinion

If you are a wallflower or people watcher go to the larger events. If you are a Star or want to participate we have room for you at Tiki Caliente.

W

let the band play on.....

kiki, I have been to every one of these events. Totally low key and fun! Less like a frat party/rock concert, more like a traditional hawaiian luau, only bigger!

Thanks fellas! John-O, you can keep that chicken at home, but everything else sound BOSS! I get enough hustle and noise and crowds in my "regular" life... a relaxing and fun vacay with some like-minded cool guys and gals sounds charming!

What did I think?

i felt like danny glover from lethal weapon with the line "I am to old for this shit"

Haha! I second that emotion, Rory! Your gig sounds just my speed...

Not a chicken, it's a rooster !!

Roosters = Tiki. :)

There was a famous Rooster Tiki bar in Hawaii. It was right under Don's Treehouse in the International Market Place.

They even had their own mug...

And based on your feedback on Oasis, I think you're gonna LOVE Caliente.

[ Edited by: JOHN-O 2011-10-31 12:51 ]

If you keep that mug in your hand too long, you will go blind.

You are So BUSTED!!!!!! Dig?

Well you know I come with this deal.

The First Band Lined up For Tiki Caliente 4

The Smokin' Menehunes bring you the classic swinging,Jazzy Hapa Haole tunes of the golden age of Hawaiian music.

Hapa Haole (Mainly Hawaiian music with mostly English lyrics)

The Smokin'Menehunes are the only band that has been at all the Tiki Caliente Events. Kevin and the Boy's always set a great mid day tone and are just great people to have around.

We have reached out to several entertainers already and are looking for a line up that is something you don't see every day. A mix of new to the seen hip entertainment and classic bands that let you know you are surrounded by family.

we had a great time last year....looking forward to this years TiKi Caliente!

Just Signed for Saturday May 19th at TC4

The Sand Devils

The Sand Devils have been active in San Diego since 2004, featuring guitarists Ran Mosessco (formerly of The Astroglides from Israel), and Hans Kohls (played with local bands in San Diego and Albuquerque), with John Stoup and Jack Haka on drums and bass. The Sand Devils have played with such bands as The Surf Coasters (Japan), Pollo Del Mar, The Madeira and many more. The Sand Devils were the first surf band to play at Tiki Oasis (in 2006), and also played at the second annual Surf Guitar 101 convention in 2009.
In the summer of 2011, they released their long-awaited debut CD which contains 13 all original instrumental tracks. Their music combines high-energy traditional surf with more modern dark undertones and psychedelic influences.

Sweet

Nice! Where are those at Rory? I don't remember seeing them...

North side,on palm canyon before downtown. This was one of the first Don the Beachcomber and were Frank Sinatra would enjoy a good ol'navy grog in a side room they had for him. Most of the bartenders work here for the season and then the DTB in hollywood in the off season. Sippin'Safari by beachcomber berry has a great chapter on some of the people and the history of this location.
