As a newie, can anyone advise the different qualities of different 151 rums, or is it just the alcohol that's important (if that's not heresy to say). |

Lemon Hart is a pretty tasty 151 demerara rum. The "white" 151's seem pretty similar to me. Like you said, the alcohol content is the main thing, and that seems to override any subtle differences among brands. I keep Wray & Nephew's and Bacardi & use Bacardi mostly when pyrotechnic garnishes are called for (i.e., hula bowls, cocoanaut re-entry, etc.)! |

I have a hard time finding Lemon Hart 151 in L.A., granted I haven't tried very hard. Any tips on where to get these lauded best 151 rums as you post reviews will be appreciated. Grazie, -M. |

They stock both proofs of Lemon Hart at High Time in Costa Mesa, but if you look around you may find the 151 proof in L.A. |

I've also purchased Lemon Hart at Bristol Farms in Redondo Beach. However, often if they are out of stock on something, they claim they don't carry it, so it's best to just check back every so often... |

Man, sounds like I'm gonna have to stock up here in Washington before I move down. Hard alcohol is only available here in state-run liquor stores, which mostly sucks, but the upside is that in an effort to keep The People from mandating a change, they keep them pretty darn well-stocked with a lot of variety -- their mandate isn't profits as much as serving the alcohol needs of the people. They even have an online database to help you locate which store has a particular brand in inventory. I've always thought our state-run system sucked, but after hearing how hard it is for you guys to find specific brands, I feel pretty lucky. |

Evil Mastermind, I get my lemon hart at "Liquor Depot" on Saticoy East of the airport in Van Nuys. I have posted the address on TC in the past. The have all kinds of good stuff, at great prices. They even have Fee Brothers Falernum, and Marischino liquor. Cheers, KT |

I have a friend that goes to jam island a few times a year. They brought back a bottle of what they call overproof. That is what the lable claims and when I opened the bottle it was no lie. It was like the duke boys island style. It is clear, with a strong sweet smell. I have had it with mix usually just a taste and boy it is strong, but yet almost smooth with some kind of background mix of course. |

It's probably Wray and Nephew Overproof rum. It's available here in some liquor stores. It's a different flavor than Lemon Hart 151 or Bacardi 151 but makes a great substitute for light rum if you want an extra kick. Or if you can't find Myers' platinum and you want to make a drink that calls for light Jamaican rum (as in some of the recipes in the Don the Beachcomber book). I bought a bottle of Appleton light rum (also from Jamaica) in Baja last week. Something I have not seen in the U.S. It was only about $15 for a 1 liter bottle. |

Yep. The Lemon Hart Jamaican rums are pretty much impossible to find over here. I don't suppose that's much consoloation if you're after Demerara, but that's the only Lemon Hart I can find. Maybe they just mixed up your bottles? |

I have been unable to find Lemon Hart 151 in San Diego (although Trader Mort's does carry Lemon Hart 80 proof). Right now I have a bottle of Potter's 151 for when I'm making a drink that calls for overproof -- it's cheap, and it has less of a gasoline taste than Bacardi. It seems to work fine for the drinks I like. I'm still keeping an eye out for the real deal, though. |

Hi, DrMiguelito - you may want to try Trader Mort's again for Lemon Hart 151. I picked up a bottle three or four weeks ago and have seen it there several times in the past year or so. It should be right next to the 80. I don't know how much they order at a time, so it could be that they were unfortunately just out of stock when you visited. Good luck! |

Hi Squad. Welcome to TC! From everything I've heard, Lemon Hart's Jamaican rums are quite good and a fine addition to your bar. Unfortunately, due purely to marketing decisions, their Jamaican rums are not available in the States. But their Demerara rums are and they are among my absolute favorites. If you can get your hands on them, do so. |

Lemon Hart Demarara regular and 151 proof are readily available at a terrific place in the San Fernando Valley called Wine & Liquor Depot (at Balboa & Saticoy). They have THE most impressive selection of booze I've seen. |

Considering how good the standard Gosling's Black Seal is, I imagine that the 151 is pretty good too. It is available in the states, I've seen it in stores but not bought a bottle. I did find the Lemon Hart 151 at the Lee's Discount Liquors warehouse for $19 a bottle. The regular Lemon Hart was the same price. Chris |

I'll join the slew of people asking where any of the Lemon Hart rums can be found. Since I live in PA (Where the state-run stores don't carry it and shipping alcohol direct-to-customer is illegal), any leads would help. Pretty much any state adjacent to western PA (i.e. Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia) would work. |

Hi everyone! Two questions: Some friend of mine is going to NYC, so I thought maybe she can bring me some Lemon Hart 151 Demerara, because the one I can find here is the Jamaican one. Any NY fellow knows any store where it can be found? And the second one. I guess the answer is "absolutely NOT!", but anyway I have to ask: Does the Lemon Hart Jamaican Overproof stuff can act as a substitute for the Demerara? The fact is that a lot of recipes call for Demerara 151, but since in Europe one cannot find it, man, that's tough. It's a hard thing trying to make that drinks in Europe. Thanks, BS |

I've found Lemonhart 151 as well as many different types of rums, scotches, tequilas.... at the Wine and Liquor Depot in Van Nuys. So far I haven't been disappointed! |

I have the same problem. Here in Europe it's impossible to get Lemon Hart from Demerara, because here they distribute the Jamaican (which is great), so I use El Dorado when a recipe calls for Demerara. And if it calls for Demerara 151, i Use the 80-proof anyway, because although you don't get the "punch" that an overproof rum gives you, at least you have the Demerara flavor. But you're lucky if you got the El Dorado overproof, I didn't knew about it! I'll have another look at my liquor store. |

Hi,can you tell me the web adresses to those speciality shops that has the Lemon Hart Demerara? I live in Sweden and cannot find it here. I have seen a Lemon Hart advertised as 151 demerara at spirituosen-superbillig.com but isn`t that the Jamaican 151? |
