Genial, the contrast between finishing in the gouge and smooth parts makes the whole really superbly terrible |

Great work, was the wood fairly green when you carved it? It has a lovely smooth look to the chisel cuts |

Wow, jaw dropping good man! Yeah I don't even wanna know what that thing would cost to ship. I'm sure it's worth it though! It would sure have a place of honor in my house!! Oh - question: the calves. Are they rounded out like that to strengthen the lower legs or is that traditionally part of the design? Thanks! [ Edited by: TheBigT 2009-02-12 12:07 ] |

The BigT - Mahalo. The oversized calf's are part of the design. Tall Boy was intended to be a chain saw only carve. The eye area |

Queen K, tikitomas, buzzard, Benz, Clarita, tikisbytyler and seagoat tikisbytyler - reference all you like that how i do it. Yes, the finish again my biggest fear! Not tiki but local indigenous art created around the same time as the Polinesians. |

Couldn't you always cover parts that you don't want to dry too fast? Love the frog. My dad made a clay pot a decade or two ago and always stuck hard in my mind. |

Damn Seeks, nice frog! Do you do everything in life so perfect? This is going to be a very impressive carve, tiki or no tiki. You've got to spill the beans sometime... you must have some sort of sculpture background... or just a hell of a great eye for 3 dimensional work. |

Wow! We're on the same wave length. I have been trying to figure out how to incorporate a frog into my carvings. However , I wanted to make mine a chirping frog (have you seen the wooden frogs that make a chirping sound when rubbed). Great carving - keep going. |

This update responds to my question! I imagine the difficulty of the work when the wood has dried. But I think, in view the pics, that you have a significantly higher level to meet the challenge, it is clear that your hand with a gouges is provided and accurate. Good continuation, good work! J. |
