I'm Super HAPPY for you, Bask, no, Wallow in the well deserved glory and now put a finish on him so we can see how Really Great you Are!!!

Seeksurf,

I just came across your thread - been offline for awhile. Really amazing evolution of your skills & style. I share your appreciation of Hawaiian style for sure.

Nice... Super Nice!

And this one...

Have you been to the Hawaiian islands? This tiki headdress totally reminds me of the Tongan carved/Hawaiian style (see here, and here) that's spread all over the islands and now seems to be the prevalent style there.

Anyways, keep up the good work. You got it goin' on.

S

Benz - thanks much. I'm having a good time and learning a ton on each carve.
I hope i can say that in 5 years or more again.

AA - thanks for dropping in. For sure the head dress on surftiki is me eyeballing
the tongan style.

Yes, i have been to the Islands the US Navy drop me off for a
short stay back in 87. I wasn't into the arts, but it was the first time
i tried surfing.

holy hot dang bro that is a killer carving...wow im stunned...

C

oh super neat! Congrats!

That's an absolutely superb tiki, seeksurf. Craftsmanship all the way. I'd be very proud of that one if I were you!

He's so damn smooth, it's almost as if that piece of wood was begging to be carved into that exact shape.

S

kreepy - thanks bro for stopping by and checking him out.

Clarita - thanks abunch.

Basement Kahuna - WOW, what a honor. Glad you like.

Flat Black - IM still sanding. Thanks. He was a choice piece
of wood to start with. I think willed him into what he
is.

B

Really Well done, I can't say Excellent enough times!

Aloha Seeksurf!!!Just wanted to say again how aweasome this carving is ,sweet job my friend and i hope your getting some surf in ,Aloha, Mooney

Seeks, did you put a finish on the waffle head yet??

S

kreepy - thanks again. I just don't know if carving for money is for me?

greentikipat - glad you like.

surfin - its in the garage I have a couple nice 6' cedars

Benz - thanks for the smile. :)

Mooney - I deffently need to make some time soon on the surf.

tikifreak - Not yet he is getting a slow dry cracking has started.

S

surfintiki here is that cedar log. Im really like
the feel of this wood.

Lots of head room for a Lono this time. I'M a little
worried about the base not much room for the feet.

OH DUDE, you are SO psyched! That is such a perfectly shaped one for tiki creating too. Mine are stubs with branches. At least no bugs!
Great start, I bet this one is gonna look bee-u-tee-ful.

Seeks, you are on fire!!! Maybe you can try the feet like this style (wrap them over the front?) I know you'll get it perfect!!!

Ohhh yeah, and I was just starring at the picture of your last carving next to your new one and never really noticed how realistic the hands were. Incredible!!

Dayum! You's a bad dude!

B

WOW , Boy !

excellent start.
I'm not worrying about the feet. You found the way to carve them like a master on the waffle boy. It looks like you have enough wood, especially if you do what Tikifreak1 said.

Good luck,

Benjamin.

B

Excellent Start on your Lono and DAMN How can you make it Look SO EaZy.
How do I go about getting my Own Seeks Tiki?

Looking forward to seeing the progress....you do excellent work. Don't spend to much time staring. :)

S

surfintiki - thanks bro a friend at work gave me a couple cedars and couple
maples the maples are larger than the cedar.

tikifreak - that shot has been my bread and butter for the last 3 tikis
and i haven't put it away yet.

conga - I might have the body down, but I'm hoping the imagination
kicks in later down the road. Right now they are pretty much copy's.

G - thanks much, this ceder is cool alittle chippy at the wrong angle for sure.

benella - thanks, I don't think I'm going for realistic feet this time
it will be close to tikifreaks suggestion.

Benz - I look him over good and plenty.
I'm not open to retail as of yet. Maybe when the wife gets tired of
tikis all over the place?

Robin - Na. I'm going to look at him to death.

Aloha Seeksurf!!!
How do you make those lines look so effortless my friend. You have another Smokin start to another aweasome Tiki.Hope your getting some surf! Aloha Mooney

B

Well Seeks, I'm Sure he is looking better than the last pic you posted and I KNOW he will just be incredible. SO, if you aren't up for retail just yet, Just send him over here and let him enjoy my company for awhile. And when you are ready to get him back, send a letter to my customer service department, they are open 9 to 5
om April 1 every year and they will try to arrange to get him back to you for further upgrades and enhancements, but you have to promise not to take too long.
How ever long you have been carving doesn't matter as you were a Natural born wood carver and the Ancients live at your house eventhough you may not have seen them yet. They want ME to have this Lono, Ask 'em.

T

great start, i wouldn't worry about the feet, looks like it's doable. great job!!!

Tahitiki

S

Mooney - Thanks Its been a horrible winter as far as surf time.
Been working allot of OT.

Benz - Thanks for the humor and the kind words.

Tahitiki - Yes there is room for the feet but what i
was trying to say was I'm worried about the size of the
base after i put the feet in. I was thinking base but
typed feet. I'm sorta dyslexic at times.

V

wow is all I have to say I love the detail you put in these things I'm searching for some cedar myself but lookin good

Damn Seek, You got chops man. Just looked through your thread. You got talent brother, Keep it up and show us more.

C

Cool looking piece you're working on, nice job!

S

VBTIKI - Thanks much yes get your hands on some cedar its nice.

tikimeculs - Cool, thanks for the walk-thru on the thread.

Clarita - I appreciate the positive vibration coming from you.

GMAN - Its going slow. I'm still hacking out the body. A few hrs a day
is good. I was abusing my hands on waffle head at times, so I'm slowing
down alittle.

Bete - Thanks Bro

V

Turns out my parents are droppin some trees and the lopper says he has more cedar than I could carve in a life time so looks like what ever is discussed on this forum comes true. All I need now is a new grinder with all the pads and attachments!!

J

Any updates? It was a fine start.

B

BUMP ... for an update !

Benjamin.

S

I have been meaning to update.

I'm still tweaking the body in. Not a lot of
progress. I have been spending some time on waffle head also.

Im also have some Vista and camera driver issues.
I need to just buy a usb adapter for the media card.

Thanks for checking in guys.

S

OK quick update I'm still having camera driver issues so
this pic is a little old.
Thanks for checking him out.

B

WOW, man, when I see that, I want to try to do the same but your pieces are so neat ...
Great work,

Benjamin.

Stupid technology!

Lono is looking cool!

There's dedication! Making sure to get that shot up to T.C.!! Lookin good seeks, that cedar has a more milder red inside, I wonder when you coat it, if it will darken it some. Keep on jammin'!

Nice form Seeks!! Can't wait till you start working on the mug!!!

man thats a sharp lookin bod there!!

just with chisels so far?

good luck with the tech stuff.

S

benella - Im sure you could pull it off.

Bowana - thanks and the frustration with the drivers also.

surfintiki - I love the color and grain I'm thinking about
leaving it natural.

tikifreak - just started cutting the mug today.

harro - I use the chisels mostly in the areas i cant
control with the sander or chainsaw. I go back and forth
allot with all 3 tools.

C

Go Lono Go!

[ Edited by: Clarita 2008-04-25 14:14 ]

Thanks much Clarita.

I bought a $10 dollar media card adapter better than spending money
on new camera that is Vista friendly.

Nice chops seek! This guy is shaping up nicely!

You're gonna have some fun with the headress, I just know it!
