B

Hey Seeks, we're seeking your tiki updates, Where ye be?
This guy looks too good to Hide away :P

Benjamin.

It's mind blowing how skilled you are at carving.
Great work.

B

I think it would be a real Treat to watch you work for awhile, just to see this detail perfection machine in motion. I couldn't watch though for more than a few years, cause I'd get bored after that! :P

S

Benz - Thanks benz. It would be nice to have you see me carve because i could
use the instruction of a Master any-day. I do ok buy going slow and
hard work i think? This head dress is taking longer than waffle heads head.

big daddy - Thanks for the 2 beautful's

surfin - Thanks for the Oh my.

ben - You also with the Ho my god! Thanks Its just just duck tape
im trying to protect it from the chips and rotations.

Grapa-RuHa - Thanks man Nice of you to drop in.

B

Well I think we Need these on This page too:

The Lono headdress is about the most complicated you will find I think but that also makes it open to the Most interpretation and personalization. It seems yours is no exception and I just have to say one more time; Incredible. Love the Duct tape idea, makes a Lot of sense.

Hey there Seeks, your stuff looks great. I spent some time today looking through your whole thread and appreciate all your progress pics to your final piece. It really helps see how people develop the piece and mark out the limbs, etc. Can't wait to see how that headdress turns out.

Any new progress on the PNW totem? Do you happen to have any websites like this one or good books that show good images of PNW style art and totems? I've been thinking of trying that style out on one of my swordfish bills like I did with the tiki heads on my thread. I've bought a couple books but just looking to try to find a resource for that style that is as helpful as TC.

thanks.

Tease..... :(

Seeks... that Lono is really turning out incredible!

I'll bet you've lost track of the time put into the detail work.

Resourceful idea on protecting that hard work. I can tell you think a lot of things through before you do them... reminds me of myself.

Your latest work is musuem quality... pieces to be cherished forever.

Best of luck as you continue on... love watching these guys evolve!

C

Wow! Nice!!!

S

Benz - Thanks for filling up my gas tank! I was almost late for
work because i was working so hard on finishing up that headdress.

seagoat - Nice of you to check out the thread. I hope you can use something
there to make your carving experience work better for yourself.

The PNW Pole stays the same tell I'm done with Tall Boy. I really don't know
of any support groups similar to TC on the subject of Indian art.
I just goggle images of PNW Poles and go from there. Good luck on the NW art or
i like to say Pacifica Art that way i think is ok to use it here?

GMAN - :)

Lake - My Man thanks for the warm complement. I don't know about Museum quality.
If i was really thinking ahead i would have done the edge touch up last.
I really never intended Tall Boy to be taken this far he started out as
a chainsaw only quickie.

Clarita - Mahalo for dropping buy again. Love that surfing theme you have
been working on.

Headdress mostly done. Thanks you everyone for the encouragement.

B

Man Seeks, this one has been a Hard battle from the start(of the headdress!) and I bet next time you carve a tiki, weather or not it is to be a Lono will not take too much debate in your mind. Has this changed your willingness to carve another one? Of course after this one I Know you have many ideas as to how to make the process simpler and faster..This one is by far the most intricate one I have ever seen. I'm not sure though and to ascertain that for sure I would need to study it Up Close for a good while, so I'll enclose my shipping address and even Pay the postage when you get it finished. :P

Spectacular work Seeks!

True dedication and determination to the craft of tiki carving!

Love the duct tape work....be careful not to leave it on too long or it will leave an icky goo mess.

This bugga is going to be the shitz! I can't wait to see him standing proudly at the bog. Any thoughts on finishes yet?

You rule,

G$

B

go seeks go seeks!
this guy is looking sweet!

cant wait to see him done

Kook, shmook. Fix that damn thing.

T

Coming along great! WOW! yeah, the duct tape is a good idea - hadn't thought of that before.

S

Benz - No it hasn't changed my willingness
to carve another one, but a lono will not be on the
carving list for some time. If there's one guy out there that
can relate to a lono headdress its you. BiG Thanks for sharing it
with me.

Lake - Thanks for the very kind complement.

GMAN - The duck tape is a last resort for bad planning on my part.
And yes its getting goo messy. I'M leaning to 225 but it still scares
me? I might try basements tar mix. Tall Boy might be a permanent fixture
at the Tiki Bog year round.

buzzard - thanks bud enjoy that sun.

surfin - I'm so use to the kook now. I tried to change it once but
i think i know how now.

TheBig T - Mahalo Brother.

I putting more time in and getting exited about tall boy.
I still have the nose and hands and feet ext to finish up with.
Mahalo for stoping buy.

Speechless, Seeks.

Its absolutely beautiful.

I almost wish I could find a flaw in it.

Are you sure aliens don't come down at night and work on it while you sleep?

The texture, the detail, the size.. its all amazing and you should be extremely proud of it all.

Congrats.... "Grom"

BD

holy cow! as fernando lamas would say " he luuks mahvelous "! love the way he looks. i just gotta find me some bigger wood. sorry no pun intended.

flawless Seeks - absolutely flawless.... love the texture.
you should be a proud dad of this one!

B

Man Seeks, Aren't you getting tired of all the praise you are getting for this little Lono?? I mean, well he IS Perfect and he IS INCREDIBLE, and he's AWESOME, and he's All that stuff and MORE so I guess all this Hubbub is WELL Deserved!
Back down to Reality, I Really love how the chisel tracks make it look like he is a Furry guy, it looks like he has a Beautiful furry coat that Any living thing would be proud of. I know the headdress is Awesome and everything but the REST of him is Just as excellent from the Toes on up past the nose.
I really think you need to start another one while this one is fresh in yer mind. Maybe in a Walnut log, or red Oak, ore some nice dark, Hard WOOD, yes?

Lake - Thanks again. I see lots of flaws mostly the back side.
I sorta wish the aliens where doing the carving my wrists hurt.

big daddy - thanks for the holy cow! Yes get yourself some large wood!

bennella - thanks again. I went for the feet detail again.

conga - please no bears.

GMAN - Thanks for your encouragement.

surfin - thanks for the super grom! not my best work but im getting
better.

tikifreak - thanks bro Im loving you last carve.

AlohaStation - thanks Im really slow thats how i think i get the crisp
testures.

Duddy - thanks for the incredible.

harro - Im happy with the headdress but its far from flawless in my
eye.

Benz - Im loving the praise it really helps as you know.
I would love to find a large hardwood log. The lono is
so right for a log becouse you always have that extra wood
up top.
