I usually can't get my clothes off quick enough to fall into bed and into a deep sleep. I work night shift, until 12:30 AM and usually make it home around 1:30 - 2 AM and the fact that I make it home without dozing off is a real feat in itself. A couple weeks ago I actually pulled into the driveway, turned off the ignition and fell asleep behind the wheel. Not for a few minutes or a half hour but until 4:30 in the morning! My wife was getting worried that I wasn't home from work, saw the car in the driveway and turned on the lights to see me sawing logs in the driver's seat! I wish I had the energy to do anything when I get home from work but with my son consistently waking up around 6:30 - 7:00 AM, I need as much rest as possible! |

The first thing I must do is feed the dog, she doesn't let me do anything else! Then it's the heck out of my work clothes, and out to the garden for a once over. That's my decompression time. Supper, feed the koi when it's dark, tv, bed, more tv, sleep. Wednesdays are wing nights at the pub when the hubby's home, and we usually have people over for burgers a couple Fridays a month. Saturday mornings I do waffles, usually for those that were over for burgers the night before. When I'm about one waffle away from being done, the dog starts getting excited. You see, she gets to lick the bowl. If there are any waffles left over, I save them for her(we call them 'one toss frisbies'). |

I either work from home or live at work, I haven't really worked out which one it is yet, and it's sometimes hard to determine when one starts and the other finishes. |

For the last 10 weeks our kitchen has been under reconstruction. The first thing I did was come home, was try to figure out what was wet, disconnected, usable. I had to rinse dust off everything before you could eat or drink out of it. Mr. Pineapple has been working really late and eating dinner at work, so I had cereal or ice cream for dinner! Sometimes the living room furniture was covered in tarps, and pushed to one side. This blew. I usually came home, got into jammies and fell asleep early. (First trimester of pregnancy + construction will do that) Now, it's all finished, Mr. P is still on crunch time deadline, but this weekend he had one day off and we cleaned, threw stuff out, put stuff away, and the tiki bar/corner is restored to it's pre-construction glory. I really missed it! Today when I come home, the house will be more normal than it's been in 3 months. I will make some dinner, watch the Giants if they're on; they're not, they play the Dodgers tomorrow :( So, maybe some seinfeld re-runs, and do some pre-garage sale clothes purging! Sadly, I'll probably never be a size 8 again, and if I am, I'm buying new clothes! I really miss having a cocktail when I come home, but I suppose it's better to have a baby who can read and will someday have the motor skills to squeeze limes for mommy! |

Tangaroa I completely empathize with you... my schedule is similar but it takes place in the morning instead... 6:30AM - 7:00AM - Awaken by my son, change his diaper Don't get me wrong I love my kids more that anything but I think my schedule would be perfect for scaring away teenagers from having unprotected pre-marital sex. :) |

JohnTiki and Tangaroa - you guys are awesome! Thanks for giving Mr. Pineapple a good example to live up to :) It's really great that you're so involved in your kids everyday routine! Really, Mr. P can't wait to play legos with the boy! I have some friends whose husbands have removed themselves from the day to day stuff with their kids, and it's kind of sad, the kids think of spending time with Dad as a treat, which I think as a parent, is kind of sad. One of these days they'll be off with their friends, and your very existence will be an embarrassment to them, enjoy the Legos while you can! |

man I hate having to go to school, and work but it may be better than a little one right now... Since the question is just "after work", here goes: After leaving work at 4:30pm, I spend an hour in traffic. I then spend 4 1/2 hours at school. I really let my hair down at school by studying, then for fun I go home and study some more... yeah, fun times! |

So in all reality we have VERY boring lives after we get off work! A month ago my routing was very different from today: Before: Come home, give the dog 5 minutes of play/attention time, go upstairs and change out of my work clothes into knock-abouts, come back downstairs and take the dog for a 30 - 45 minute walk, come back and collapse in my chair, maybe accidentally take a catnap, in front of the boobtube. Later, either fix dinner or don't, watch more boobtube and eventually wander off to bed after the hubby got home. Now: Come home, play with the dog for a minute, discuss the day with the hubby who is now home before I am and does all the doggy-walk stuff, collapse in my chair in front of the TV and deflect questions like "what's for dinner?" and "did you return that video yet?", gain an extra 5 pounds 'cause I'm not out walkin' the dog as much, take the dog out for a last pee and roll off to bed around 11:00 after the hubby falls asleep on the couch and snores so loud I can't hear the boobtube anyhow! It was much quieter but lonlier when the hubby worked the late swing shift! |
