Thats insane man! That tikis huge, and yet perfectly proportined and styled. I do agree with Benz though, you have to be careful.

Woah.. Fantastic Tiki Week and Beautiful tikis. Nice try with the carving platform, I see you were safe and comfortable on the scaffold while holding those Dangerous chisels, but when using the chainsaw, you were perched on a Slippery ladderon one foot and you had the other foot in the tiki's mouth hoping he would hold it fast.
Well at least you ended up with all your limbs. Excellent job on the tikis and I like everyone else are Drooling over the giant logs you seem to always find..

Moondance, for the big tiki at Rügen I worked about 8 days. It was a arduous job and I was happy,
when I finished the tiki. The figure is about 13 feet high.

Now, I have many new pictures for you by showing my last 2 month.

In the first pictures you can see my resin pendant production. It was a long way, till all came off!
I colored the resin with different pigments.

I cast 6 different tiki figures for necklaces and keyholders.

The Marq and the Easter Island pendants!

And here are some customized pendants with different wood balls

Here you can see the Tekoteko necklace and the ring, I´ve worked out together with a Munich jeweler.
It was carved out from model wax and cast in 925 sterling silver. After it has been fire ooxidize. Limited edition of 20.

Juhu! My first mug is ready! Here you can see the first pictures off the "Mr. Tonga Tounge" mug.
It´s about 7 inch high, was carved out from plaster, cast in ceramic and produced by Cheeky Tiki / UK.

These little fellows are three custom made doorknob for a nice guy I met at the "Tiki Modern Tour".

Here are my latest carvings. Two tiki masks are out from out from cottonwood and colored with moorbrown wood stain.
The tikis are polished with antique wax and about 28 inch high.

A new marquesan friend! The Tiki is about 3,2 feet high and was carved from massive cottonwood.
After I colored it with moorbrown wood stain and acrylic, I polished the wood with antique wax, too.
with the acrylic I gave the wood a lots off highlights.

And here we are at the "Tiki Modern Tour"! The first pic shows the tour tiki I carved.
It´s out from oak wood with real bones on his head. Now the tiki stand at the Mata Hari bar at Zürich.
Sadly, till now I have only this picture of the tiki and the event.
Stupidly our camera got own feets at the last evening at St. Gallen. :cry:
And here is the tiki man at the Forbidden Paradise stall. Thanks for the great time!

Here are some pics from crazy guys. "Lil Roth" visted our stall at the Road Devils Rod & Kustom Art Show and did funny things.
And the second pic shows Gene Winfield while carving on a friends tiki! A real artist!

First, I colored the marquesan tiki with moorbrown wood stain.
Then I took a broad brush with a little bit orange acrylic and
colored softly over the wood surface.
So the color adhere only at the highest parts of the carving texture.
And for the finish I polished the wood with antique wax. So, all the color is fix.

I hope you understand, what I try to explain with my english skills.

This week I´ll start with two new carvings. A three feet Ku out of cherry wood
and a cottonwood mask. Perhaps in the beginning of Dezember I´ll carve a new giant
seven feet oak tiki. So furthermore I´ll be busy in carving.

I realy like your myspace picture gallery, it´s a own "Book of Tiki". Your carvings are so lovely!

To create always new tikis or one figure in different styles, is the greatest job for me.
It´s always a new challenge , but that´s the fun and makes a great result.
You create step by step and learn more.

For me it would be boring to carve always the same tiki. It´s a work for a machine!

marmorate glaze and not only one color. So, I think that some parts of the mug comes out
more interesting and it looks a little bit like an old mug.

I have carved two new tiki masks in the same style like the first one.
I carved it in summer 2008 and now I dilate it to a tiki trio.
They are all out of cotton wood, colored with wood stain and polished with antique wax.

Kai, these are really nice masks. Great style as always. I can see them turning into many aftermarket items also. Imagine them framing some art in their mouths. Or as a sconce on a wall and a type of diffused light or lamp inside the mouth.

Or something like these simulated fires in the mouth...

Lake Surfer, thanks for you great suggestion. Yes, it realy lend itself to create something
for the cut-out at the mouth. I like your idea to use them as a wall lamp with a diffused light.
The masks already change their owner, but I will grab the idea sometimes for an other project.
It would be also funny as a frame for an aquarium or a display! :wink:

Seeksurf, thanks for your comment and the tip. The charm of the masks is that`s a trio
and they supporting themselves.The new owner of the masks hang them up on a wall of his bedroom.
The wall is decorate with a snake paperhanging.

Now, I think it´s time for a new "Tiki Microcosms" and some progress pictures.
When I read bigbrotiki´s tread about Tiki Microcosms a long time ago, I was very inspire and created the Voodoo Box.
Now, I´ll start a new project with an old wooden first aid box. It should become a box with some
niceties inside. Perhaps with a native shack, some tiki figures, a campfire, a sacrificial altar
and especially some light effects. I don´t want to lay down someting, yet.
I´ll try to create it in an old and authentic style.

Now, I have the first pictures for you. I´ll only be busy after my regular job on this project, because it´ll take a lots of time.
But we have long and cold winter evenings in Bavaria.

Currently, I grinded the old first aid box and lay down a PNG styled pattern on the door.
In the next step I´ll countersink the pattern. Hope you like the first pics!

His eyes loks like fried egg. I remember his name is "Gumby". Great Microcosms!
I also enjoy the Tiki Microcosms thread and hope that more people will be inspirated to create one.

O.K. and here are the next pictures of my PNG box. First I continued with the door and milled
out the pattern. It was not realy easy to hold still and make clean lines. The heck with it,
It´s handcrafted! Now I´ll try out to mix some natural pigment colors for the pattern.
I read at Basement Kahuna´s thread that you can use buttermilk for mixing natural colors.

And than another step I have done. This will be the lamp of the tiki shack.
It´s out of a small glass bottle. I cut the bottle neck, fixed a LED at the hole and knot the net around the glass ball.
I have done it yesterday and need all the evening.

Here is my next update of the PNG box. In the last two days I carved the first figures for the microcosm.
Two PNG tree trums out of balsa wood and grounded with different teak stain. They are still not finish, yet.
That is only the base coat.

That flat bowl will be the fire place with a LED inside and full of glowing firewood.
I turned it out of oak wood. Hope you enjoy the latest steps.
