I kind of like the fact that we would be turning our back on the status quo, and sort of become a little more primitive and have to adapt and become a more evolved mutation of what we once were.

Rory....

Wow, I'm dumbfounded by the utter disdain this guy is showing for you and your great event....to the point that I don't think I ever want to stay there again.
Seriously...F*CK Roger !!!!

Travel Lodge is just fine with me.
Something tells me that, if the Travel Lodge wants Tiki Caliente and host it once, they'll put tikis on the property the following year.

Dinah's up in Palo Alto mentioned that they might want to tiki their place up after we had the NorCal Lei-Over up there...they LOVED the tiki peeps.
The Trader Vics had their best night at the front bar ever that night. Hell, they even named a drink in honor of the event the "Lei-Over".

I say, go where you're appreciated.
You know Tikiyaki is on board...we'll bring the tiki to the Travel Lodge !!!

F*CK Roger !

Yea, what he said!!!

We are so there next year. Tell me I can do to help.

Rory Rocks!!!

J

Wow I can't believe that Roger would just throw away business like that. Especially if it would bring more people in. I think the Holiday Inn down the road might be a cool place to do it too. Just some food for thought. :)

I agree with all the above. It's the people who are attending that make the event; the vendors and artists provide the best decorations anyway. I think it would add a cool twist if all the attendees brought decorative items, maybe even a contest for best bit of decorative swag. I've got an edge on the competition there, a sweet tiki hand-made by Scootiki.

Finally got my photos uploaded!!
Beautiful desert foliage.

Jeff with a cool outrigger we found on the side of the Reef Bar building.

Posing under the original Congo Room Sign.

My first Room Crawl!! Thanks Cheeky Girl that was an amazing cocktail! Did you post the recipe?

Tom and Sherri you two are soooo cute!!

I love the Moai heads as doors! Awesome!

Still don't know how all the bands did it in that heat! But we sure enjoyed it!

The Eliminators were Awesome. I am glad they wend with shorts and tee's for Saturday morning. Friday nigh with the suite must have been hot as hell.
But they pulled it off with class.

I downloaded a short video on youtube of the martini kings by the pool with one of the thurston howleys.

Rock on!!!!!!!

funny story, 1 of the guys in the band used to work with Rory at Best Buy or something.

Jeff(btd)

If Tiki Caliente moved to the Travelodge, we'd go with it! It looks like a nice place to have it and if the Tropics people don't appreciate us, we should move.

Looks like they want the Vegas look.....

.... and not the tiki look.

Kick rocks Trops!

wow, they must have spent a million bucks for a designer to do that brochure.

Video of the Eliminators rockin out, Madness' "One Step Beyond"
and Dave of the Insect Surfers cuttin a rug, er uh, the grass.

I'd just like to echo all the comments above: as was promised in these forums, I enjoyed Tiki Caliente much more than the several Tiki Oasises (Oases, Oasii?) that I have attended... but MUCH more important to my happiness is that my girlfriend enjoyed Tiki Caliente much more than Tiki Oasis, so we'll follow you anywhere.

The Tropics, Travelodge, the Ralph's parking lot, your choice.

thank you everyone for your support.

I would love for you guys to become fan's of the Trio Bar/Rest in Palm Springs.
Trio came in at the last min and helped make sure we have appletons rum flowing at tiki calieente 2 and also host the after partys
at the shag store next door.......also I run the bar.

We may not look tiki but they are as friendly and any tiki fan I've ever seen

Awesome!!!
I'm ready for #3.
Mother's Day???

Actually Some said that mothers Day is bad for them.
So I would shoot for the weekend before, or after if possible.

Jeff(btd)

I am working on the weekend after mothersday. So we have 3 full days to soak up the awesomeness!!!!!!!

TM

That is the place. What do you think?

if the show takes place on Friday the 13th we may need to have ZOMBEE special.

Hey Rory,

It looks like a very nice retro place. Approximately how many rooms do they have? Ya know for all the attendees.

I missed this year but I'm going to go next year.

The resort has 145 rooms. The first rooms will be released to people who came to TC1 and TC2. The next Group will be released to the people who stayed at TC2.
Then we will open it to the public.......date will be released later.

The Last resort we used had 90 rooms and we SOLD OUT plus, another 20 rooms at the travel lodge.

The difference will be more rooms on grounds, different price levels because not all rooms are pool view and less wristbands will be released for people offsite.

This is a weekender event, and I want people on grounds to enjoy the full weekend.

We do not promise to be the biggest,

ONLY THE BEST!!!!!

W

M

I stayed here at the Travelodge this year for Caliente, and I thought it was a great place to stay!

I like it! Throw some tikis in there, and the fact that it is in May (when it is not near as hot) and I think this will be great!

Can't wait.

I know that before the event, Big Tiki Dude was saying he wasn't sure if he had enough of this or that music? But from what I heard, he was spinning the very best surf, exotica, lounge and hawaiiana all weekend. Sometimes you know the DJ is great when you don't notice him at all. BTD was playing the perfect blended soundtrack that set the background tone for fun. And thank you for spinning behind the fashion show dude!

Just noticed this post by Cherry Capri.
thanks so much for the cool shout out,
and my pleasure helping you out with the Fashion show background.
can't wait for TC3

Jeff(btd)
