Celebrities in a Peacock Chair

Pages: 1 2 3 4 167 replies

From the Los Angeles Public Library photo archives.

Photograph caption dated January 23, 1965 reads, "Actress Tippi Hedren, honorary mayor of Universal City, congratulates Eddie Holohan, president of the Flying Tiger Line, and incoming president of the North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce yesterday on the set of television's 'McHale's Navy,' while outgoing Chamber president Russell Quisenberry, North Hollywood Postmaster Everett Carpenter and 'McHale's Navy' star Ernest Borgnine, from left, look on. Borgnine is honorary postmaster of Universal City."

Madonna (not quite a peacock chair I guess):

Stan Freberg, with piano prodigy/actress, Ginny Tiu
(Freberg died of pneumonia on April 7, 2015, at 88.)

Yet another of ol' Vic Bergeron, this time from an article in the Sept. 4, 1944 issue of Life magazine.

A fun one of Marilyn Monroe that I don't think I saw yet...

Naomi Campbell

Christopher Walken

Bruce Boxleitner and Cindy Morgan (AKA Lacey Underall) in Bring 'Em Back Alive.

His hair is perfect!

So, these chairs, must be hand-made? I see online you can buy them new starting around $260 which is pretty reasonable if they are hand made.

I'll have to see what Wikipedia says about these...

Quick internet search yesterday. It took longer to go through the thread and make sure GROG not post same picture that's been posted before.

Thank you Deputy Heath of the Spelling Police for letting GROG off with a warning rather than issuing a Ticket for misspelling Talmadge as Talmedge (GROG fix).

Apparently there were three Talmadge sisters who were actresses: Constance, Norma, and Natalie. There are a couple pictures on page 1 of this thread of Norma in a peacock chair, and then the one above is of Constance.

GROG find another pic, it had no identification, but GROG guess it's Norma again.

Natalie's claim to fame was that she married Buster Keaton.

While not quite the full-blown Peacock chair, this photo from 1901 or 1902 is worth seeing.

Walt Disney, as a baby. He was born on December 5th, 1901. If only he had taken up tiki drinks instead of smoking, he likely would have lived much longer. Here's to the man behind Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room and so much more -- cheers!
