Thanks for the kind words guys. It was Benzart and AA that inspired me to try this carving. AA- to make the cut outs I drilled a small hole and used a air powered saw ( meant for autobody work) to cut it out. I drew it out on the back of the carving and then used a chisel to clean it up. It is not exactly even on both sides. Thanks again and I will get more progress shots soon. |

Some nice work you got happening there Rodeo. The masks are very cool, that redo look awesome, and that new one shows some promise too. Unusual to see a head only tiki with a headrest too. Cool work dude |

cool! Mask is coming along so nicely! I like the twine, it'll be easier to tell when it's on both sides, but it's a neat idea! Way to be all original! yayyyyy! -Tw |

Thanks for the kind words everyone, on bad days they bring a smile to me. This guy has been taking up space for way to long and I had lost all interest in working on him. So today I put chisels and grinder to task and made some progress. I am hoping that when he is finally done to donate him to the fund raising auction for my sons school. Its a school for kids with disabilities. (he has a speech impairment) Thanks for looking |

While trying to do some detail work with the dremel and a small burr . I some how managed to catch the tip of my work glove with the bit. Before I knew it , it had chewed right thru and onto my finger. I think if I wasnt wearing gloves I may have stuck it thru my nail. I am glad its chilli in my garage today. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke. [ Edited by: rodeotiki 2005-10-05 14:24 ] |

It's cool that you're not going to Hukilau, so you have moe time to work on this guy, and post more progression pics. He's looking sweet already. One of the toasts (at Hukilau) on my extra-long toast list will be to Rodeotiki. |
