bump!

T

Hey Squid, stop by and see me today . I got something for ya .

On the way if I have time and can hide my tikis so they dont get stolen from the back of my truck , I would love to visit the Laguna Art Museum . Anyone remember "Zap" comics ,"Murph" cartioon from Surfer magazine or the infamous "Pacific Vibrations" poster you saw in every head shop in the 70's? Well the artist was Rick Griffin and they are doing a monthlong show of his work there . Its located at 307 Cliff Dr. off PCH in Laguna and I think it opens at 10:00 am. He was an icon in the psychedelic and underground comics scene . Check it if you can .

If I am asked to vend at the NEXT Big ol' tiki bash, I think I will sell Coconut Monkey Paintings and rice crispy treats, just in case the puka dogs run out again!-Those were some FINE Mai Tais! It was nice to be on the civillian side of the bar for a change. :)

What an outstanding party! Thank you Holden for making this happen. That was some smokin talent on stage that night and the mai-tais were strong and tasty.

Mahalo also to Soccertiki, WooHooWahine, dibroc, and obviously others who put it all together then tore it all down again. Crap I could go on forever, but what a pleasure it is seeing old friends and making new ones. On to the pics!

Had a great time at this event. I've been a TC member for quite a while now, and an avid Tiki News reader since 96', but never attended any events. This was my 2nd (the thing at the Egyptian 2 weeks ago was my first) and my first one as a vender....

So I wanted to say Aloha and Mahalo to various folks (or "peeps" as the kids say)

Mahalo SQUID...thanx for inviting me to sell my CD's, and HOLDEN for agreeing to it, and putting the T.O. coasters in the goodie bags.

AlohaCurrent, BigTikiDude, Tiki Al, Populule...you shred..., Nick and Jon from Tiki Mag, Kevin from the Smokin Menehunes, Kirby,Grog, BarTiki, TikiTrav,Bamboo Ben...great moves on the dance floor during the Dynotones....DJ Lee...always a pleasure....

Of course, Soccer Tiki and WooHooWahine...always great to see you guys.

I know there's more, but I'm forgetting...it was along nite.

Dynotones, Clouseaux, Populele, and the King...great sets.

Hope everyone got home without a hitch...as I was leaving I saw 5-0 in full effect...I know they were looking for DWI's.

Big Mahalos to everyone who bought a CD or print.

Look forward to more events like this.

Aloha

Tikiyaki

We missed the vendors due to traffic. Got there at 6:45pm and they were wrapping things up. I wish they had them out a bit longer! Oh well, catch you at Tiki Oasis!

Okay, finally home and ready to post my few pics. I got there early and apparently left before things got really crazy, but I still had a great time! Thanks to Holden and all his menehunes for putting together a really terrific party! I'm not going to make any specific thanks here because you know who you are, and I'll probably forget someone! But I do need to make special mention of how happy I am to have finally brought home Kinny's "The Greeting" painting that I've felt was mine since before it was finished! (I don't really need to pay rent next month, do I?! ) I also had a great time meeting a bunch of people I've interacted with here and on MySpace! So, with no further ado, here are the best of the bunch ...

Atomikitty showin' some monkey love...

Squid ...

Kirby's tiki with a big stick ...

Polly and Kirby ...

Little Lost Tiki and me (both wearing Paipo Pebble Pendants, but they're hard to see 'cuz mine is twisted, and so is Kinny)...
