Was East Fremont ever considered as a potential location ?

I understand the good mayor was providing discounted liquor licenses to encourage business growth in that area. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea that Frankie's isn't being built in a casino shopping mall, but East Fremont would have been consistent with the retro theme of a tiki bar. It's already the location of two of the coolest (albiet very different) bars in LV - Atomic Liquors and Downtown Cocktail Room. It would also have been in convenient stumbling distance of the the best old school casino/hotel in LV - the El Cortez. East Fremont has the potential to be a great mid-century boutique area (like Palm Springs and South Beach on a smaller scale) with all of the existing motels from that era.

Just asking. :)

Yes, I know. I'm assuming an East Fremont location was considered. I'm just curious why it didn't work out. I'm guessing the "old" Frankie's was too perfect of a starting point (both from a historic and architecture stand-point). Oh well, I guess if I ever need to visit a hospital in Vegas, I know which one to go to.

There's a guy on East Fremont who lives in a defunct refrigerator, maybe they should have talked to him before making any serious long term business plans.

The Wifie & I just got back from the Private Grand Opening and I gotta tell ya that FRANKIE'S IS DA BOMB!!! I just posted a photo in the "Other Events" topic if ya wanna see a li'l bit of the inside...

It's super easy to get to from the Strip: take the Strip to Charleston & make a Left. You'll pass the Best Antique Mall in Vegas, The Charleston Antique Mall (where my Tiki Shop is!) on the left side (sorry, couldn't resist). You'll go under the freeway, pass Carl's Jr., and you'll see Frankie's just up the road on Right side of the street about 1/2 mile next to a Rebel Gas Station & across the street from Wendie's.

Don'tcha DARE miss it next time ya come to Vegas!

the drinks were excellent! they had a "limited" menu which consisted of about 25(!) different cocktails last night, and all the ones we tried were great. We only had one drink that was made a little off, and it was becasue it was too strong, so really... nothing to compain about!!!! they said there is going to be alot more cocktails availiable in the future, so plenty to look forward too.

it was the best run, pre-opening party i have ever witnessed, very smooth...

oh yeah, the place looks awesome and has a great juke box too!

T

I just flew home and had to check out this post . Frankies friggin' RAWKS ! Im still pissed at Al for carving such a badass tiki . ( its called jealousy). And the slot machines payout too . I won $40.00 playing Blackjack . Great job Moss and Chris !!!!!!!!!!! Ill load some pics soon .

Hey There!

My beautiful wife Alexandria & I just got in from another long and fantastic night at Frankie's! I'm doin' real good at my new studies on "How To Be A Drunk-O"!

Anyhoo, here a bunch o' pictures for everyone to drool over...

One of Buzzy's Chairs next to Billy The Crud's Squid Attack Tiki

Looking at the bar past more of Buzzy's chairs.

Two sides of "The Booth" with & without flash so you can see all of Ben's exquisite work.

Some of Ben's Masterful ceiling work.

Bosko behind the bar, and one of Leroy's final custom tiki's. Notice that instead of holding a war club, Leroy's Maori is holding the Ace Of Clubs!

Oceanic Arts, Bosko and Ken Pleasant flank the bumper-pool cue rack and the best CD Jukebox in any bar anywhere!

This one's for you, LakeSurfer! The only way to tell which restroom is the Women's is that the mask on the Women's door has lipstick on, and the door-handle has boobies!

Crazy Al's Masterpiece with Bosko behind the bar again, Ken Pleasant on the far wall, Master Schmaltz's Red Maori, Buzzy's chairs and Billy's Squid Attack Tiki all backing him up.

My Wifie Alexandria LOVES Da Maori!

The last thing you see as you stagger out is this superb carving by the one & only Benzart!

Well, that's it for now. More to come after we go again tomorrow!

H

FANTASTICO! Nice work Ben, everybody. Frickin awesome!

J

Congrats Ben and all involved! The place looks amazing! Can't wait to visit Vegas and Frankies!
Now every trip to Vegas can be a Lucky one, just by visiting Frankies Tiki Room!
Cant imagine there could ever be 'too many' pics on this thread. PLEASE POST MORE PICS you lucky bastards that visit Frankies.

Anyone going who could pick me up one of the souvenir tiki jackpot necklace and some matchsticks? Is there a way to buy stuff from the place via the net?

Jaw Dropping! congrats to the owners and to the contributing artists. The place looks incredible. I can't wait to see it in person! :D

Beautiful work!

Congrats to everyone involved on a job well done!

A true artist's creation!

Tiki Lee, thanks so much for taking the photo of my masks!

Hello. I was lucky enough to be able to design one of the mugs and got to go to the invitation opening. The place is amazing and I'm proud to be a small part of it. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Looks damn good!

We'll be stopping in during our trip to Viva next year.

AMAZING! I can't wait to get out there to see that bar in person.....
I need to find some time to get out to Vegas..... At least gas prices aren't a huge issue right now.....

Here's a link to the great Frankie's article in the "Daily Fiasco"

http://dailyfiasco.com/tag/frankies-tiki-room/

...and here are the accompanying "Private Grand Opening" photos that go with it:

The Two Kings Of This Castle; Moss & Ben

Moss & Ray looking pissed that someone all ready broke one of his tikis!

Da Boyz In Da Shack! Ben, Al, Moss, Ray, & Buzzy out front.

Just one of the many gorgeous views inside.

Our Pal Al...

Ben and Moss from a more sober moment of the evening.

Our Saviour...

The infamous "Bearded Clam" mug by local Tattoo Artist "Dirk Vermin". I heard a rumor that this one is gonna be changed and that these will be the first super-collectable mugs from Frankie's.

Squid's Slot Machine Tiki. Note the hand-painted metallic coins in the mouth. Now that's quality workmanship for ya!

Well, I'm off to Frankie's for Grand Opening Nite #3... Aloha!

Great job Ben, Buzzy, and all involved.

Beautiful pictures, thanks for posting.

Great Pictures!!! Love the Mug-shots! The joint is truly beautiful!

Does anyone know if they have their own parking lot? Or where is a good place to park?
Thanks.

*Does anyone know if they have their own parking lot? Or where is a good place to park? *

Dude, you LIVE in Las Vegas! You tell us!

T

Yes they have their own parking lot . But it hasnt seen this many cars in it at once in 30 years .

Thanks, TikiRay,

Hey Ben, We just saw you on Fox 5 Las Vegas. You look good on TV.

S

The opening of Frankie's Tiki Room was amazing last night! It was packed to the max and looked fabulous! Bamboo Ben did a great job! And Frankie's Tiki Mugs are to die for! The bartenders are the best in Vegas... No doubt about that!

Moss as always looked handsome!

I'm going back tonight to party with my Tiki friends!

K

Congrats Ben and Moss the place looks sweet!! I will see it someday!!!

..absolutely outstanding!! you all outdid yerselves....this place officially sets the new standard for 21st century poly pop......

..ben that custom bamboo suit is top notch you tiki rockstar!!

I was a lucky pup to be at Frankie's (for the press and artist's party on 12/2) and I have to say...Bamboo Ben and ALL the contributing artists have done an outstanding job on creating an atmospheric Vegas-influenced Tiki bar. I would definitely call this place "Tiki with and edge"! The jukebox is fantastic (always a plus in my book! Bad music = bad time) and Rumshaker (a wonderful girl!) has created some terrific drinks. Another bonus: the mugs. They are completely unique designs and Holden has done them proud! They are HEFTY and beautifully crafted! Truly collectable, folks! I am so happy to have a new place to hang out when I visit the "adult Disneyland" that is Las Vegas. Good times, good times... Thank you, Moss! (You were very gracious to this Tiki journalist.) Oh, and thank you to Bamboo Ben, Tiki Ray, Crazy Al and Mr. and Mrs. Smiley for showing this girl such a good time that night. Hope to see you all soon again! -- Kari Hendler (Tiki Magazine)
