Was East Fremont ever considered as a potential location ? I understand the good mayor was providing discounted liquor licenses to encourage business growth in that area. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea that Frankie's isn't being built in a casino shopping mall, but East Fremont would have been consistent with the retro theme of a tiki bar. It's already the location of two of the coolest (albiet very different) bars in LV - Atomic Liquors and Downtown Cocktail Room. It would also have been in convenient stumbling distance of the the best old school casino/hotel in LV - the El Cortez. East Fremont has the potential to be a great mid-century boutique area (like Palm Springs and South Beach on a smaller scale) with all of the existing motels from that era. Just asking. :) [ Edited by: JOHN-O 2008-12-01 13:31 ] |

Yes, I know. I'm assuming an East Fremont location was considered. I'm just curious why it didn't work out. I'm guessing the "old" Frankie's was too perfect of a starting point (both from a historic and architecture stand-point). Oh well, I guess if I ever need to visit a hospital in Vegas, I know which one to go to. |

Was East Fremont ever considered as a potential location? There's a guy on East Fremont who lives in a defunct refrigerator, maybe they should have talked to him before making any serious long term business plans. |

The Wifie & I just got back from the Private Grand Opening and I gotta tell ya that FRANKIE'S IS DA BOMB!!! I just posted a photo in the "Other Events" topic if ya wanna see a li'l bit of the inside... It's super easy to get to from the Strip: take the Strip to Charleston & make a Left. You'll pass the Best Antique Mall in Vegas, The Charleston Antique Mall (where my Tiki Shop is!) on the left side (sorry, couldn't resist). You'll go under the freeway, pass Carl's Jr., and you'll see Frankie's just up the road on Right side of the street about 1/2 mile next to a Rebel Gas Station & across the street from Wendie's. Don'tcha DARE miss it next time ya come to Vegas! [ Edited by: Tiki Lee's 2008-12-02 23:59 ] |

The place looks amazing. Super impressed with all the effort and art that has gone into this place. Knowing my experiences in Vegas I really hope that everything is well secured to the walls and floors  Can not wait to see it in person. Will make the tradeshow I have to attend in February ALOT more enjoyable! Congrats and much success!! |

the drinks were excellent! they had a "limited" menu which consisted of about 25(!) different cocktails last night, and all the ones we tried were great. We only had one drink that was made a little off, and it was becasue it was too strong, so really... nothing to compain about!!!! they said there is going to be alot more cocktails availiable in the future, so plenty to look forward too. it was the best run, pre-opening party i have ever witnessed, very smooth... oh yeah, the place looks awesome and has a great juke box too! |

The opening of Frankie's Tiki Room was amazing last night! It was packed to the max and looked fabulous! Bamboo Ben did a great job! And Frankie's Tiki Mugs are to die for! The bartenders are the best in Vegas... No doubt about that! Moss as always looked handsome! I'm going back tonight to party with my Tiki friends! |

I was a lucky pup to be at Frankie's (for the press and artist's party on 12/2) and I have to say...Bamboo Ben and ALL the contributing artists have done an outstanding job on creating an atmospheric Vegas-influenced Tiki bar. I would definitely call this place "Tiki with and edge"! The jukebox is fantastic (always a plus in my book! Bad music = bad time) and Rumshaker (a wonderful girl!) has created some terrific drinks. Another bonus: the mugs. They are completely unique designs and Holden has done them proud! They are HEFTY and beautifully crafted! Truly collectable, folks! I am so happy to have a new place to hang out when I visit the "adult Disneyland" that is Las Vegas. Good times, good times... Thank you, Moss! (You were very gracious to this Tiki journalist.) Oh, and thank you to Bamboo Ben, Tiki Ray, Crazy Al and Mr. and Mrs. Smiley for showing this girl such a good time that night. Hope to see you all soon again! -- Kari Hendler (Tiki Magazine) |
