I'm tired of the lie that organic food is better for the environment. If you will recall, this all started about 10 years ago as Hollywood elitism. And it continues as such today - they even have special colored plastic bags prominently marked ORGANIC for you to put your organic produce in. That way you can show off to the other people in the checkout line ~ "Look at me, I'm better than you because I pay way too much for organic foods. And I sleep better at night because marketing has convinced me that I am doing a good thing." Part of the problem is that when you pay premium price for food, you want it to be perfect without bugholes and blemishes. So they cut off and discard much of the food. That way we can protect the environment for the children and grandchildren of people in this world who will starve to death before they are old enough to reproduce. Here's a dirty little secret about organic farming. During the summer in the farming community where I live, they cover the fields with miles of petroleum-produced plastic to "naturally cook" the bugs and weeds. In the fall, they pull off the plastic and plant your organic greens. What do you think happens to all those truckloads of discarded plastic? Straight to the landfill. Another organic farming technique is to create a non-organic buffer around your organic field. Then poison the bejesus out of the buffer so that nothing can survive the trip across the buffer to your precious organic $6 a pound heirloom kale. Makes sense to me! |

Silly hippies! I think organic is stupid. How many people have gardens? I do and I never use chemicals, but is it organic? No. Why? Because there are rules and regulations that are in place to tell you that you are not organic unless you jump through their hoops. I will take the veggies I grow over organic anyday :) |

I have noticed most of my rants are about advertising and marketing :D I'm tired of casino ads ~ "Easy Money Casino has paid out over ONE MILLION DOLLARS this year!" Do they think we are stupid? That we don't realize that they took in 5 million to pay out that one? The other one a while back was "Casino management has authorized 3 truckloads of money to be brought in for pay-outs this weekend!" Really? You truck money OUT of a casino, not in! |

I'm with you TikiSkip. I also notice EVERY store out there now wants you to sign up for their "SuperSaver Club" or whatever so they can track all of your purchases, for the most part I resist. I'm not sure what they want that info for but they want it BADLY because they make a point to ask you EVERY TIME. |

I am tired of seeing absolutely pointless new threads being started that only receive a few responses, all because the author doesn't spend the time to do a search and/or likes to hear the sound of his/her own voice (or see what THEY have to say in print, as the case may be). |

I am tired of 70s era TV shows anachronisms.... Two of my all time favorite shows, MASH and HAPPY DAYS....totally RUINED because they did NOT have blown dried hairstyles in the 50s! How hard was that for the producers to figure out? Did the stars have so much pull that they were able to say "oh yeah, i'll sign on for another season provided you let me keep my disco hair!"... shhheeeesshhhh! |

People not introducing people. The skill of introducing people seems to be completely dead but it's a skill you can learn fairly easily. The simple rule is: When you are with someone and you meet someone you know who the person you're with doesn't know you introduce the person you're with to the other person then introduce the other person to the person you're with. Example: Jack and Pat are walking down the street. They run into Chris, a friend of Jack's. After the round of "Oh my god, Jack!" "Oh my god, Chris!" Jack then says to Chris "This is my friend/co-worker/old school chum/acquaintance Pat." Then Jack says to Pat "This is my friend Chris." In your introductions there should be some small piece of information as to how you are connected to the people, but it doesn't have to be more information than necessary. Call the other person a friend if he/she is a friend, a co-worker if a co-worker, or your professional relationship if it's one you don't mind revealing (such as a salesman you do business with or your accountant). If one of the relationships is casual or one that you'd really not reveal to the other (such as your dealer, another stripper at the club where you dance, your ex's brother, your contact on the police force, your spirit guide, etc.) then refer to the person as "My acquaintance _________." If you bring a guest to a party you need to introduce the guest in the above manner to everyone you meet. You should always introduce the person you're with immediately after the initial greetings with the person you know. Immediately. Don't start chit chatting and leave the person you're with standing there staring or force him/her to introduce him/herself to the person you're visiting with. If you are the host/hostess of a party/dinner/event you should try to introduce your guests to other guests they don't know. One of the reasons you have parties is to introduce people you know to each other. So make the rounds and make sure your guests have all met each other. (If it' a very casual event like a kegger or BYOB barbecue it's assumed that guests will mingle and meet each other. But if you have friends who aren't very outgoing you should make a few introductions for them.) |

Actually Lucas your situation was different in that it wasn't, I assume, a hosted event and even if it was it fell into the casual category where it's expected that people introduce themselves to others. For the shy or socially inept I suggest you either provide and wear your own obvious name tag (ideally with a humorous touch such as I'm Lucas! Please meet me! or This is Lucas. He doesn't bite. Usually.) or bite the bullet and introduce yourself to a couple people. (You might also have to try and kindle a bit of conversation but with Tiki in common that should be easy. And if you're a minor Tiki celeb such as yourself it should be even easier.) |

I'm tired of the 0.9 cents on gasoline prices. Back when gas was 30 cents per gallon, the difference between 29.9 cents and 30 cents was 2% - ALMOST enough to make a difference. But the difference between $3.499 and $3.50 is one tenth of one percent. Just price it to the nearest cent, YOU"RE NOT FOOLING ANYONE!!!! |

PAIN....I am tired of PAIN!!! I am not happy and I know I shouldn't complain about personal things...I am not one of those victim type people...but maybe bitching will help reduce my mediocre plight. Please be aware that I always compare my ridiculous health complaints to the horrors of our American soldiers fighting for freedom, the child who has lived a life fighting cancer and has never had a normal fun day in their life, the cold matted starving homeless dog cowered behind a dumpster, or any fellow human-being struggling with handicaps. This year I will turn 60...that in itself is scary...LOL. I just missed a last visit to Trader Dicks in Reno and it will soon be gone. I was sooooo planning on linking up with my best friend and heading down to LA to crawl the Tiki Bars and go to the ITMP...that was going to be my vacation for 2014...well it ain't gonna happen...boo hoo hoo!!! I'm sure some of you can identify, I am too fond of bad foods and have too much poundage on board...a struggle I tackle every once in a while. Thought it would be a dream to get to a decent weight and have surgery on all the bulging discs in my back...still hoping to do that. Being heavy puts a lot of wear and tear on the joints so of course arthritis is my friend. Have had left hip pain for over 2 years and little limp due to my bad back and sciatica. Around Thanksgiving my left hip really started to bother me. Over a couple of weeks it was excruciating to walk so I drug myself to the doctor. Diagnosed with bursitis, so trying to treat that medically with anti-inflammatories and working at home from my recliner. Things did not improve in December, by early January I went back to my primary who now ordered xrays and referred me to Orthopedics, by this time I am in such pain I am having to use a walker. End of January I go to the Orthopedic Surgeon and he tells me my left hip is shot, no cartilage, bone on bone, it's not going to get better, need to loose some weight and he will replace my hip. I don't take pain medication as I can't be a zombie and as a nurse I know how chronic pain patients can become addicts. Can't comfortably sleep at night, I spend most of the night drifting in an out of sleep in my recliner. My fabulous Tempurpedic bed is not my friend any more and I soooo long to have some decent sleep. I am enrolled in a weight loss class next week, have tried everything in the past so it is never the program...it is the user that fails. Trying so hard to stay positive but it is getting hard. Anyway, I write all of this as I am fed up with this pain, lack of sleep and moderately pissed that I will not be able to take my Tiki vacation this year. I know I shouldn't be complaining as there are so many other people in the world that have bigger struggles...but DAMNDAMNDAMN That is all!!! I don't require sympathy, just needed to rant. I now return you to your regularly scheduled life irritations. EDIT-Swizzle quit fuckin' the newbies, you might pick up something!!! "Oh waiter, another cocktail please!!!"
