Amen Robb!

Next piece in the works...

Mata'i Vahine looks like she's baiting the hook and ready to reel something in.

Always love the progress shots Jason, how you gradually go from nothing to a beautiful painting.

Got a suggestion for some of you tiki/black velvet/
etc. artists here at TC. Consider making your images
available as cellphone wallpaper through a site that
sells them. You could make a little extra money off
of your creations without any real extra work, you
would allow some who can't afford to own an original
to have something to enjoy and you would probably
even sell some to folks who own your originals/prints.
A thought, anyway.

Or perhaps even create some original works JUST FOR
cellphone wallpapers. Right now I have 3 "pin-up"
style wallpapers on my phone but haven't run across
any tiki wallpapers that I can upload to it unless
I "steal" something and upload it with my Motorola
Phone Tools kit.

Thanks Mike, glad you like the progress shots.
Can easily go from nothing to a big mess too.

Mahalo Tikiglk. that's a great idea! Thanks for suggesting
it.

Aloha!

Been busy on other velvet projects, but got the chance to
work a little more on my posting velvet recently. Almost finished,
just need to bring certain things out a little more. Add pattern
to pareu, hair, lei, etc...

Colors glow more than this.

Mahalo for looking!

Happy 4th!!!
Party Time!
Be safe everyone!

Cheers Andy! Thanks for the encouraging words.
Love the new CD you just made! Congrats to you.
Will definitely purchase it soon!

To me finishing something seems harder than starting something.

I really love the details on the lei/head piece. Subtle but makes a huge difference.

I want muscles and 6-packs not more headlights Jason!

Aloha Jason!

Wow! What gorgeous, stunning work! Absolutely incredible!

Glad you're posting in-progress shots! Just when I think a piece couldn't get any better, you post an update and the painting takes on even more life... and as a piece nears completion, it's with seemingly minor changes... you know just the right touches to add!

Awesome, breathtaking work!

I've seen Jasons art in person it's really beyond Beautiful, so Lovely. I hope to own one someday :)

Aloha and thanks all!

Cheers Kinny! Maybe I should change the title to 'Yummy Wahine!' :)
Love those mugs! Can't wait to see them in person.

In due time leleliz. Still compiling reference material.
Got an ass load of vahines commissions to get through. That didn't come out right. :)
In the meantime, how 'bout some more, as you say, headlights!

I guess leleliz beat you to the punch Mike!

Wow, thanks Eric! Back atcha. Talk about a lava flow of creativity.
Keep the posts coming bro!

Mahalo Kelly! You're too kind. I hopefully look forward to that too.
Love your mixologist skills. Hipalicious is delicious!

Here are some sketches for some bigger velvets I'm working on. My largest ones to date.
Some are commissions and some might be available at TO9 in the fluff suite
along with some smaller pieces. All these will be 18"x 24", not including frame.
Apologies in advance leleliz.

Mahalo!

The sketches are works of art in their own right, I like them as much as the velvets.

D

Oh so nice!!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful!!!!!!!!!

I would really love to see this one as a finished velvet....I just like the way she is standing and looking down..you know and also the headlights would be displayed well too

Mucho Mahalo for the comments on the scribbles.

Thanks Mike! They sure are easier to do than velvets!

Hey Danno! Thanks for digging the vahines!

I agree leleliz. That's the one I'm looking forward to doing a velvet the most
out of this batch. Will definitely be the biggest one to date.

This one just started. size is 18"x 24"

As a big fan of velvets all I can say is.....I wish I had more wallspace. Very nice work. Look forward to meeting you and seeing them in person at Oasis.

Mahalo Bongofury! I've seen some pictures
of your amazing tiki bar/home. Wow! Look forward
to meeting you at Oasis too. Maybe I can help you
find some more wall space!

As usual, great work Jason !

Thank you kindly Mr. tikiyaki!
...and can you guess what I'm listening to
while scratching velvet? Too easy!

Anyways, next progress shot...bit blurry.
Camara's acting up.

Mahalo for looking!

I've found that taking and posting a decent picture is the hardest part of the creative process.

Does she have a name yet? How about "Midget with a Ukulele"? :D

Mahalo Meheadhunter!
Especially a nude guitar playin hottie!
Killer job on the bowling pin!

Thanks Mike! Guitar harder to paint than pareu.
I agree, especially trying to shoot black velvet.
Pain in the Arse!!!
Awesome title! I almost fell off my seat on that suggestion!
 Too much!

I call it 'Vahine with guitar' unless I come up with something better.

Detail of guitar and such...

'Vahine ma Guitar'

L

excellent!

really nice knockers on this one

You seem to be busting these out quickly but still creating superb work.

Digging these ladies Jason! You have a great knack going with these!

Nice Jason I like how it turned out. :)

I LOVE HER SOFT SWEET EXPRESSION!
almost like she's strolling dreamlike and just strumming her guitar
hoping a handsome kane would walk up and meet her!

You've entrenched yourself in this velvet
and come out a winner!
great work!

B

Hey, I know that girl!!!

Lookin' nice Jason...your turnin' and burnin' brother!

Mucho Mahaloz leleliz, Sam, Kelly, LLT, and Sir Babalu!
Thanks for the encouraging words guys! It means a lot!
'Vahine ma Guitar' was a commissioned piece for Jeremy
who is the owner of the Tonga Hut here in LA. He was happy
with it (Yay!) and is making a killer frame for it. It should be
ready for the Tiki Magazine party on August 1.

http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=33009&forum=17&44

He has commissioned me to do a few more so that's really cool.
Might have one more ready before the show. A Big, Big Mahalo to MP
for helping to make this happen. Really appreciate it Bro!

This one is also a commissioned piece...

Looks like you just keep improving and evolving... rock on.

Cheers Mr. Hamel! That red hibiscus you did is excellent!

Stopped by the Tonga Hut recently. Snapped a couple
of pics of my 'Vahine ma Guitar' that Jeremy commissioned.
Great job on the frame dude! Looking forward to adding a few more!
Glad it's up before the Tonga Hut/Tiki Magazine release party.

Really love the detail you put in on the lei.
You are really cranking these out....its like a nude wahine making sweatshop over in your studio!

LOL!!!!!

The lei really is looking like the perfect accent for this piece, Jason.

I'd like to see those skin tones in person.

Mahalo Leleliz and Robb!
Getting closer to finishing it. Will let it rest
some more as I got two others going from Jason's nude
wahine sweatshop. Kinda has a nice ring to it.
Cranking away!

Here is one of them very early stage...

I had missed the post of the finished "Wahine with Feathered Headdress" - beautiful!

Looks like the next "piece" will be enTITled "Well Endowed Wet Wahine Caught in Sudden Tropical Downpour" :)

Not finished with her yet Mike. Still got some
more fine tuning to do. But I like both
of your titles. Just need to translate them
into Tahitian.

That's the Best signature ever!
