Awesome! Look forward to seeing Grog in person seeing these in person on Saturday.
:D

Aloha!

Just returned from the gallery with a few snaps.
Come check it out if you can. Everyone's work looks
great and Olivia's new Bettie's are amazing. Also, there are
never before seen Bunny Yeager photos of Bettie that are
classic.

So these are pretty much my first attempts on velvet.
Looking back I can't believe I did them for a gallery show.
But, I usually run before I walk for better or worse.
I'm kinda happy with them. Didn't know what to expect.
Link at Frame Fetish did an awesome job with the frames!
Thanks Link! You are the man!

Thanks everyone for the kind comments as I ventured into the
dark side!

That sitting Betty is a real evolutionary step up, nice work.

How much does a custom frame like that cost? They are absolutely beautiful and really compliment your fantastic paintings. Awesome all the way around!

Betty's looking fine as ever! It makes me want to mess with black velvet. I wonder how enamel will behave on velvet???? :)

Aloha!

Thanks for the encouraging words Robb! I've got
velvet fever and I think I like it!

Cheers Mr. Pupu Pants! Best name ever! Link at
framefetish.com charged me $200 each. I provided the
leopard fabric and he did the rest!

Hey Sam! Thanks man! Don't know how velvet and enamel
would mix, but if anyone can make it sing, you can!

Thanks to all who came out for the Bettie Page show!
Check it out if you can. It's on til May 29th.

Many Mahalos!

Aloha!

Now that I got those two Velvet Bettie's done
for the Bettie Page show, I can get back to practicing on some
more velvet vahines. Learned a lot from those two pieces.
I did one with acrylic and the other in oil. Needless to say
I put the acrylics away. Me likey oil way better!
I bought two different kinds of velvet to see the difference.
The Bettie ones were on velvet upholstery and this one here
is on Cotton Velveteen. I like the Velvet upholstery way better,
so I'll just buy that from now on. Got a few yards of the velveteen
so might as well use it though. Maybe try and push it since I'm just
playin around.

Mahaloz for lookin!

Cheers tyger jymmy! Really appreciate the comments.

Thanks Kinny!

Might have spoken too soon about the whole velvet/velveteen debate.
I'm kinda diggin both. Just gotta work a little differently with each.

It was fun working on those Betties for the show.
Didn't have much time, sometimes it's better that way!
The leopard mats really make it...and the frames. [email protected] is awesome to work with.
Really appreciate the comments on my velvets, having fun that's for sure.
Fish?...More like a sloth to water :)
Have a lot of fun ideas, but will stick to simple things while I'ma learnin.

Artistic Power Team?!... You so clazy!
Jason's part in the APT = 10% on a good day!
Claudette's part = 90% on a bad day!
:D

It's the next best thing to owning a J. Sallin.
At least you only have to use a lint roller once in awhile
and boom...it's clean!
I require lots and lots of food, drink, etc...
Thanks for your enthusiasm and comments!

Threw me off too when you changed the topic name. At least I can pronounce "Jason", not sure what I would do with "Iokona Ki'i" :)

Beautiful work Jason, you've really come into your own with the black velvets.
