Photos of "Bongo Beatin' Beachnik"* the Tiki Oasis 9 mug. Designs will be added to the back of the surfboard and a Marquesan face will be added to the drum to make it similar to Martin Denny's drum on the back cover of his greatest hits.

Its a sad day in the tiki art scene.

i think Lil' lost Kinny has finally lost his mind...he has evidently stopped painting and is clearly off on a different career path (and possibly sexual orientation), as exhibited by this notification of his product line on the official Oasis website:

At first I thought it was just a quick photoshop, but then I see it's actually true....

BigToe Bought up all my hand-made lotions just last weekend..
He said needed it for the Trannie Sandwich at the Betty Page show!

What the heck did you do that required 7 CASES!?!?!?

So i guess it's back to the painting gig in the meantime....

...It rubs the lotion on its skin before the spankings will begin!

Geeez, Toe has all the fun...move over stud!!

Oh yes check the LOST and FOUND before you leave. You can not believe all the stuff people leave each year. A lot of people buy pool toys and just leave them at the event - which is really cool BUT the hotel throws them away at the end of the weekend. Be green and give stuff you don't want to other folks!

XOXO Baby Doe

R

OH YES! That's a GREAT idea.
Will do :)

I always bring a bunch of packaged snacks, such as cookies, crackers, chips, etc. After the rum tasting, the crackers, came in handy big-time.

Oh, and another important thing, for those of you on some of the upper rooms, DON'T dump your cooler water/ice off your balcony. That's what's your bathtub is for...

Last year, someone dumped their water off their balcony, flooding my balcony, drenching anything I had on my patio area. When I had my room crawl, the crawlers were greeted with a a giant mud pit in the grassy area outside my sliding doors....THANKS. Some people just don't think...idiots....

saw this on the net elsewhere.

Yes, snacks are a must and I noshing onthose of the grain family would be a smart idea to soak up alot of the yummy rum we're all sampling :)

...And if I do get an upstairs room I promise not to dump any coolers off of my balcony

And they look even swankier live! Chris Barfield is a longtime collector of vintage fez's and usually wears one for live sets.

R

hmmm. I don't think a nap will really be an option for me... too much to see! I can't miss all the great bands so I think I'm just gonna have to pace myself... ( ie; one drink, one handfull o crackers, one glass o water-repeat process)

Oh Yeah, nice Picture BigToe!!

Hi all,
New forum member and long-time tiki afficianado who is making the trip up from Australia for our first Tiki Oasis. Just wondered if anyone could offer a bit of advice. We are staying at the event on Friday and Saturday night. Is it worth planning an extra day in San Diego on Sunday for the sole purpose of going to Bali Hai and any other tiki-esque sites of interest if we are already visiting Tonga Room in San Fran and MaiKai in Ft Lauderdale on the same trip? Unfortunately, we have a really tight schedule this trip. Any advice appreciated : )

Looking forward to it!

hang out by or in the pool on sunday to hear me and Tiki tena DJ till 6.
and then go to Bali hi for dinner.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Thanks for the suggestion Jeff. Will definitely consider :)

Cool vintage looking Ludwig tubs.

while the Bali Hai itself is not a grand Tiki temple on the scale of Tonga Room, Mai Kai, etc. there is a lot of history there, good food and drinks made from vintage, original recipes. Across the street is Humphreys Half Moon Inn and at the entrance to Shelter Island is Trader Mort's liquor store. Shelter Island as a whole is a nice Tiki relic to behold. That is my biased opinion, cheers.

Hi! Heading over to Tiki Oasis 9 from Australia with TikiSafari!
SOOOO looking forward to it!
Being a typical girl, I'm already wondering what to pack in my suitcase? From pics last year there was a Zombie party where people dressed up. Will there be the same this year & should I pack something special just in case???
Really excited to be going & hopefully meeting some of you from these forums!

well this years theme is tiki surf city.
So I would suggest Bikinis and a surfboard.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

I'll be wearing my Lynyrd Skynyrd shirt with a Tiki pendant!
Wear what you want...
Having fun and meeting peeps is what this is all about!
Squidz and i just got our room
So i guess we'll see y'all in the Artist's Alley!

Wear nametags everyone!
:)

Has anyone else gone to by deluxe tickets in the last day or two and not seen the option?

B

Tiki Oasis Deluxe passes are still on sale. Also you NOW you can check out all the cool symposiums offered this year at the event!! The schedule is up to date on the website and we also have the symposium tickets on sale - just a reminder that Deluxe Ticket Holders will get into all the symposiums for free as part of your pass (except for the pin-up hair/make-up class which cost extra due to the materials).

I am super excited about the classes this year especially the Rum and Chocolate pairing with Martin Cate. Oh my two of my favorite things together at last!! Which class are you most excited about?

XOXO Baby Doe

The theme this year for the costume contest is SURF CITY!! Prizes to couple, kids, woman and men!
Details on when the contest is happening will be announced soon but one thing is fer sure - it includes trophies by Tiki King which are soooo amazing!!!

Aloooooha!

Hukilau Brown here, your Volunteer Wrangler again for Tiki Oasis 9! I welcome our new volunteers and a hearty e' kono mai tai to all the returning Volunteer Ohana. The wonderful thing about Tiki Oasis is that it is volunteer run. Without your help the event would not be the amazing success that it is, so be part of the community and be part of Tiki Oasis!

Where else can you work a few hours a day, meet everyone at the party and drink on the job! For those that remember last year, YOU NO DRINK E'NUF MAI TAI, BRAH! I think we all had fun.

Every year volunteers tell me they had even a better time volunteering because of all the cool people you meet. First come first served!

Volunteer for Tiki Oasis ONE SHIFT and get in for FREE ($40 value). All volunteers receive free admission to the Tiki Oasis event as well as a thank you gift from Tiki Oasis. Total volunteer time on average is about 5 hours. Some are more or less but read the fine print as some shifts are EARLY in the morning or require heavy lifting.

NEW THIS YEAR – Volunteer Meeting Friday August 14th 11am- 12 noon OR Friday 5pm-6pm. This is a Mandatory meeting for most so please review the schedule as soon as it is posted.

We suggest you take on a shift with a pal. Tell your friends to volunteer and see you at the Oasis!

I am desperately trying to buy another deluxe pass, but when I click onto the brown paper tix site link from the Tiki Oasis site there is no option to purchase deluxe. Is anyone else having this problem? Is it because I have an overseas IP address? I just don't understand. Been trying to purchase for three days now. Only gives me the option to purchase the $40 and $110 tix. Any advice?

Having attended the last 3 Tiki Oasiseseses, I can tell you that us Aussies are not treated very favorably at these events. Prepare to be heckled about your accent, kicked out of the room parties because you have been drinking all day and all night with the rest of em and are still kinda sober while the room host is a dribbling mess on the floor at 4am when you are just warming up and exposing your genitalia for the first time since last night, Ken Ruzic trying to have people believe you are from England (idiot), Billy the C**T trying to have you deported, Bay Park Buzzy having you believe he is from Bay Park when he is really from the slums of Clairemont (you can tell by his home made porno pics), Bigtikidude gnawing your ear completely from your head with rants about the surfguitar yesteryear glory days of so-cal and quite politely kidnapping you into his Scooby Doo Dick Dale Dream Machine for a world tour of surf band exxtremeness (yes double x exxtreme), Bamboo Ben sexually assaulting you then falling asleep in your lap (among other places),
Big Toe making inappropriate pelvic gestures toward you for 4 days, Woohoo Wahine giving you a solid case of industrial deafness from her wild mating WOOHOO call, Eric (vitaltiki) cracking your vertebrae while tonguing your ear and rubbing his 3 day growth on your cheek, Tiki Ray,the antisocial character that he is welcoming you with the "C-bomb"-shame on you Tiki Ray (Cyndi is ok though), Daves Not Home dry humping your leg like the Taco Bell dog but better dressed, Clydesdalle slapping you in the face for no apparent reason, Eric the Red having have a more majestic beard than you or any one you know will ever have and making sure you know it, Squid acting Ubercool with his fancy drawings and little drink cups things, young TikiThomas reminding you that at his age you were whacking doughnuts in a parking lot in a $250 car (drunk) and thought YOU were cool, Nick from Tiki Mag selling you a subscription to a magazine dedicated to showing you a lifestyle that as an Aussie you can never REALLY live.. Matt Reese & Dave Warshaw making you wanna abandon you home country, join the Finkniks and live the rest of your days as a neo-beatnik-tiki-lifestyle-tower bar usual suspect-struggling artist-pinstripe & tattoo your grandmother-kick ass type of motherfucker, Suzie & my mate Captain Smiley Adam letting you know damn sure that you sure as shit ain't living the Tiki/Hotrod/KustomKulture/retro/
vintage/50's/rockabilly/pinup lifestyle, and Holden "Tiki Farm" Westland being completely disinterested in the Tiki Scene as a whole and rightly so because, let's face it, it's sooooooooooooooo boring. whatever.
