AL

I ordered a few things this morning through the Disney Merchandise number (877) 560-6477

He said stuff is selling fast. Stay on hold- took about 5-10mins.

I got both deluxe prints- 2 shirts and the coaster set.

Have the description for the item ready, if you have a Disney Visa or Disney rewards car you get 10% off.

Also they cannot promise everything you order, so they take the order and credit you back if it does not ship.

I went to Disneyland yesterday morning & everything had been moved from the hotel where the event was to the Disneyana Gallery on Main St. At first they didn't have the 2 mugs unpacked, but by 11:00am or so, everything was out for sale! I got the 2 mugs, giant Pele figure, the fish god fig, pin frame set, paper clip box and all the box pin sets. All the pins & sets except the frame set had been moved over to Westward Ho Pin store in Frontierland. Most of the artwork was still on sale too! And the gallery tiki exhibit was great!

I have to say I was pretty disappointed by it, as were others I talked to @ Trader Sam's. Aside from the "Memory Lane" talk that included Rolly and Bob, there wasn't much to it, aside from picking up your merch and the gifts you got at registration. It was mainly pin trading and if you weren't in to that, then that was the day for you...

Liked all the merch I got there. Wish I could have gotten the travel mug you got with purchase of the SHAG cocktail party package though. Anyone attend that?

Great photos Heylownine/Kevin

And here are some photos of some of the Enchanted Tiki Room 50th Anniversary merchandise on display including artwork by Kevin Kidney/Jody Daily,Shag and Doug Horne...

You gotta scroll down a bit to get to it

Could not agree more, if you're not into pins, there was not too much else there. My wife and I gave our pins trade cards (I had no clue what they were for) to a little girl in merchandise pickup line next to us. She was extremely excited. If I'd known this was going to be so pin-centric, I would not have paid to attend this, and just gotten the items I wanted from the Gallery.

Wow! What a day Saturday was. Getting to sign prints of my artwork along side one of my favorite artists, Shag.

Thanks to all that came out, I had a blast!

Does anyone know if the Shag Koro Aloha shirt is still available? I noticed this was an open edition, but I can't find it at the online store. thanks!

I ordered it this morning from the Disney number, you cannot get it online. I bought 2 both a XL and L incase one doesn't fit. The guy said if you wear XL to get and L, I told him I'd try it out and figure it out then. Might be my trading foder later on. Even them they have to check it if is available or sold out at the park. The person on the line didn't say weather or not stuff was sold out yet.

He did say there was a special framed print and Shag mug for those who paid for the highest package.

The only sizes the Disneyana/gallery had left from the event were XL & XXL. They told me the other sizes should be restocked soon as these are open edition.

F

Event was fine. Decore was fun. The panel discussions were great, even though it was the same line-up of speakers all three times. But Rollie and Bob were entertaining enough for the two times I sat through the panels (hearing some different stories, etc.) The event was very pin-trader centric. They had a bunch of silent auctions, but EVERYTHING was pins. I thought they might have some Kidney/Daily exclusives or other artist works, or even pieces of the decor made specifically for this 50th event that can't really be re-used. But, alas, only pic packages up for auction.

The highlight, aside from some cool merch, was getting to meet artists in person. Everyone was enthusiastic and warm and for the most part there for the entire day.

For those of us without Park passes and limited availability to spend a day in the Park, the $85 was a fair trade off in order to pick up the merch we wanted to buy, and to be able to get seemingly anything we wanted without having to get into the Park. Even some of the mugs, bowls, etc were already pre-signed, so there was no "Sophie's Choice" about which items to have the artists sign (they only signed two pieces per person, during the signing.)

My regret - I still can't get my hands on one of those souvenir sipper "mugs" they sold pineapple juice in at the Dole Juice Bar at the Tiki Room last weekend. I haven't even seen any show up on ebay! ; )

AL

So if I'm reading this correctly the 85.00 got you in to buy stuff without to buy a park ticket? I really didn't get that from the original Disney website (had a few things planned already anyhow. I may have gone then, o well, maybe in ten years or 5 at that! I actually like the gallery poster in the link posted in the last page. I got most of what I wanted through mail order.

So does anyone know if the two tiki mugs are still around and where in the park? Price tag?

The Disneyana Store (Right next to Great Moments with President Lincoln) is where you will find everything for sale. They had the mugs today :)

Do they still have the giant Pele and Uti statues for sale, and can you call to order them? How much are they going for?
Anyone know?

Yes they still have the statues for sale at The Disneyana Store. They are $99 a piece.

Just a head's up, both of the mugs are sold out and they have no idea when more will be shipped, but there were plenty of the Rongo bowls and the party bowls when I looked late last night.
On a side note, was anyone else disappointed by the quality of the Rongo bowl?

Wait, does that imply that they will get more in? I know it's open edition and all. Gah, being blacked out on SoCal select pass and wanting the Pele Mug is never a good thing.

I wasn't very impressed with the new Rongo bowl for $49.95. I like the brown one they did for the 45th in 2008 a lot better! I passed on this one. LOVE the mugs though! I can see why they already sold out, but they'll certainly restock soon. I'm going this friday, so I'll report on what's left.

Yes, the guy at Disneyana (former Disney Gallery location) said they will get more mugs, he just couldn't give me a date.

Ah, good to know I'm not the only one. Looking forward to your report

Just an observation:
But the emphasis on acquiring merchandise here seems to be bordering on the obsessive (hoarding)
and why is so much of the "Disney" merchandise going straight to eBay?

and this is coming from a collector, myself......

I called the Disney Parks Merchandise number twice, and both people didn't know of any products!!! I bought the 50th Anniversary shirt on line though.

I echo Atomic Tiki Punk ... ebay is full of resale items.

Does anyone know where (or if there still are any left) one can purchase the Shag giclees/prints "Welcome to our tropical hideaway" or "the birds sing"

What were those going for retail at the event? ... would rather buy from Disney direct and avoid fattening up someone's wallet.

Thar's money in them thar Disney tikis! :tiki:

KS

The Tropical Hideaway gilcee was $400 (not including tax, which is 8 1/2%) at the event. Not sure about the other one...

AL

I only obsessed over getting the couple things for a Tiki themed room I'm working on. The main thing for me was not to pay scalper prices on ebay. And yes those people are scalping, its one thing to buy something and it doesnt fit then resell it, another thing to double, triple the prices.
The giclee for the " birds sin" was 325.00 you can still see the catalog if you google disney 50th tiki event and follow the link.

No, no, no John-O! Disney is the EVIL EMPIRE. Don't go mixing up your Star Trek and Star Wars.
And why is Tinker Bell wearing a purple dress? She always wears green.

Everyone chill.....I have it on GOOD authority that many of the "TIKI" merch. will be available as "open Availability' for awhile...let's give them a chance to restock (if needed)...besides 'Greediness' is NOT next to'TIKINESS'....and 'rum is always just around the corner'. Aloha

AL

Guys,
here is the link for the catalog, it sucks there is no SKU numbers. If you refer to the what it is like shirt and price, they can search their system.

Just so you know "The Birds Sing" print is called "Serande" in the computer, They do still have Giclees available- those are the 325.00 ones. I would have gotten it if was a Serigraph not Giclee.
The 40.00 print is going to get restocked.

Numbered editions is what will sell out and ot be remade- thus making it limited. You can order those through mail order also.

I was called today to be told that the shirts and prints sold out Monday, same day I called in my order. They said the will be getting more Open Edition items soon. So I just left my order open.

I called the Disney Merchandise number (877) 560-6477 this afternoon, and was able to get everything I wanted.

There are very few of the "Tropical Hideaway" and "Bird Sings" giclees left. I spoke with someone at the Shag store, and if ever they were able to do a release in the future, it would likely be artist proofs and a lot more than Disney is selling them.

They also had mugs, aloha shirts, and the resin statues.

Have patience, Disney said the Tiki Room stuff will be available ... Take that scalpers!

Yeah don't take my word for it but the impression I got from them was that once they got their re-up for mugs they would have plenty for some time. This is Disney we're talking. I'm mainly concerned about those Dole whip sippers since nobody has said anything about resupply

I thought the Dole Whip sippers were limited to 500 & when they are gone, they are gone. and they are gone...

F

AbeLugo- yes, basically, that is the gist. Next time, I'd split the $85 with someone and just have them buy the mugs for me instead of paying the entire $85 for just myself.

I think you're right. Though, it sort of suprises me that Disney would order only 500. Ever. Honestly, I think it's a neat thing they could sell at the Juice Bar year-round. Hoping they get more in later seeing how quickly this batch went. But, who knows.
I'm just shocked NONE have shown up on ebay...especially seeing how much of the Tiki Room 50th merch has.

As the King of Disneyland, I have it on good authority that they will be available later on at Trader Sam's.

[ Edited by: joe banks 2013-07-05 14:12 ]

KS

The same plastic sippers will be at Trader Sam's? How can they be limited edition and then make more? I'm not complaining, since I missed out and I would like one too... I did see one that sold on eBay for $35. I'm shocked that I haven't seen more...

I went to get Dole Whip yesterday and was told by an employee they would get more, no specifics though, about as vague as the "2 weeks" I got regarding the ETR mugs but at least it's something.

Fwiw I was also told the Trader Sams line though when I went there they knew what I was talking about but said they had never gotten it. Perhaps signals got crossed and there's truth to that? We'll see when we see I guess

Also they had Shag shirts if anyone's interested. Honestly I would say if you live anywhere near Disney or follow the merchandise line, hold off on getting hosed via ebay for now

[ Edited by: Cargo Cult Leader 2013-07-05 19:10 ]

I went to Disneyland yesterday & the Disneyana Gallery had everything in stock except the 2 mugs & the coasters. And for those pin fans, Westward Ho had all the tiki room pins still for sale except the Shag & Dole Whip pins. Disneyana should get more in soon!

If you did not get to the Enchanted Tiki Room 50th Anniversary and see Rolly Crump, you have 2 chances in July to meet the Disney legend and Enchanted Tiki Room artist and carver.

Along with co-author Jeff Heimbuch, he will be signing copies of his book, It's Kind of a Cute Story, at...

Disneyana Collectible Expo at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Garden Grove, Ca. Sunday July 14th and

The Walt Disney Family Museum in San Fransisco, CA Saturday July 20th.

F

Cargo & Joe Banks,
Thanks for sharing your info. Very interesting should those show up at Trader's, but good to hear the rumors that more are on the way...eventually...somewhere... ; ) Like yo usaid, we'll see when we see.

I'll put my ear to the ground with a few of my sources now that I'm back in full swing and see what the rumor consensus is.

I would think that the sippers would be used in the pool area. Plenty of soaking wet people wander into Trader Sam's wanting an adult beverage.
Disney is the land of limited editions in the thousands. I've seen their merchandise with limited editions of 5000 and even 10,000.

This Disney theme park oriented podcast visited the event and gives a report...
