New resin light, not there yet.

New resin done.
To the guy with the resin question.
See it would make good lava.

S

Nice resin work!!!!! :D

Great resin work. I can't wait to see what you do with those. Your lamps/lights are always so creative. Inspirational is a better word.

T

Hey Fla guy heres what I got now.
Had more than I thought.
Got only one green as you see.
Plus like two larger ones.

You're right, that resin would make a really cool lava effect!

T

Here's a new one.
The hat is a found object but had to
make it smaller for this light.
Trying to make lights that are
my design, unique enough that they
would be hard to copy.
But then when you do that these are
one off lights most of the time.

wow, very cool!

Awesome!

Whoa!

SWEET!! Love the lava rock effect with the lava glow when the light is on. You have amazing vision when creating these lights.

HJ

AMAZING!

Thank you for sharing and inspiring.

RH

John, that is some extra nice work with the resin. And, in my experience, unique design work.

I can't imagine what you may be coming up with next year.

T

Thanks Robb.
I do a big part of my work in the spring.

Oh and,
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TC!!!!!!

C

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TC!!!!!!

THAT is just all kinds of AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

U

Love it John!

That is so funny, Wendy

tikiskip I just posted the real link to buying the resin chunk pieces on my thread and also a note about your lamps from Roger. I'll love seeing what you come up with if you get some, Wendy

T

Thanks girls!!!

Thank you Wendy.
My lights mostly sell for less than the
price of the chunks would cost to make a light with would.
They are VERY cool!!!
Here is the resin light Wendy and Roger are working on.
These will be very cool!!!

Wow Tikiskip. Your lamps are always off the charts. Keep em coming. I've made a few of my own getting ideas from you. I'm really stoked how this scallop lamp came out. The hardest part was the thatch. Here it is. Aloha....

u rock

T

Wow! Uglyguy you sure do make some nice lights!!
Lets see the other light in the back ground too.
Your tie job looks good.
"I've made a few of my own getting ideas from you"
Glad I could help, Going to frame that and put it on the wall,
I see that a lot, but don't hear it.
There is a "light maker" here that uses my designs and she gets
more praise than I do when I first made it.
(But then she sells em so that's different)

Excellent work, Tikiskip - As it always is!

Merry Christmas TC!!!

Merry Christmas, Skip. Love the table! That lighted sign is killer.

Merry Christmas Skip - I'm afraid to ask about the pink gelatinous stuff at the front of the table

T

Thanks Big K, I love all things old.
And MDM here is what that is.....

That is just so over the top fun. Never heard of such a brick... well Dan was famous for his brick bread which only he would bake and eat. Merry Christmas and thank you for sharing. Wendy

Very nice Skip, you could carve a tiki out of that block of salt and make a lamp :D

T

HAPPY NEW YEAR TC!!!

W

Hope you had a good start to the New Year Skip!

Gonna make more cool lamps this year for us to drool over? :)

Chris

T

Yeah Chris there will be more.
Thanks for compliment.

And to the people who have asked about lights I am sorry to kinda blow you off
my knee/back are not doing well so I've not been really doing much in the light
world.
If you got the new Tiki mag you can see my lights at the Tonga Hut on the right and left
of the Drooling Bastard tiki. (pg54)
Or just go there and check the place out, Thanks Jeremy and Amy!!!

Ok on to some cool rattan work.
Going to see how I can work some of this into some lights.

You tear apart old rattan furniture and make it into tiki lamps? Way cool!

The lamps are incredible... any tips on putting lights in blowfish? :)

T

Yes use a mask, and you need a dremel tool with a fine grinder bit,
to cut the hole in the top of the fish.
Next pull out the stuffing if there is some.
You can use a wire brass brush to clean sides of blowfish.
Stick a c7 in the thing and you are done.

will do and will post results thank you

Looks like you have some nice raw materials there, can't wait to see what you come up with!

T

Here are a few lights I have almost done.
And one that is finsihed.
Last a cool book I just got off ebay.
Lots of great stuff in this book.

T

Thanks for sharing. Your lamps are beautiful. I'm super happy you are in the swap. Wendy

T

Here is the red lights with more rattan added.
Also pictured here is a new basket light.
my wife talked me into gettig the hat on this one
as I did not think it would work.
My best guess on this hat is that it's a 1920s beach hat.
It was kinda tatterd and fragile but I fixed all of that.
I like taking a cool item like this and putting it to use
on an item that would have daily.

I love how your creative mind finds castaway "stuff" and transforms it into cool lamps

Love the hat! :) I also love the oval one you did earlier. It was nice seeing you guys again, we should get together, I have some things to give ya, :)

T

Thanks Mike.
It was great to see you again Lena.
Nice to talk to someone who is just as nutz about tiki lights as I am.
Here is another light, I think this is the style you saw Lena.
Going to put this up on ebay Mon eve.
All paper globe so this one is lite.
Plus it has it's own chain for to hang.

"Let TIKISKIP Yaba Daba Do" you a light......

That's a killer one Skip... I dig it!! About how long does it take you to make something like that?

T

Thanks Boris.
KAHAKA this light has many steps to it.
So it takes awhile to make, my best guess would be 16 hours.
But the way I make em is I may do some work on that light one day
and not touch it for a year.
At this time I got tons of lights half done.
Mostly cool odd ball lights I'm kinda stumped on.

Here are some float lights I just finished.
