Here are some of my vintage pics for my favorite TC topic.

TG

Not sure where I got these. Possibly somewhere else on TC, but I don't think so. Two are Tahiti-related. The other, Hawaiian.

Spotted a Witgo Globe in a 1969 magazine.

OK! Show us the whole picture & tell us what magazine! :D

Don't know if this was on the thread before, due to all those red x's, but my brother found this on some Russian blog.

Tiki Mantis - that is one helluva find.

Can that be real??

No, it can't, Robb. Just because it's Russia doesn't mean they don't have photo shop. :)

Maybe if it would be a Tom Waits cover, but not Martin Denny.

That is, quite possibly, the worst photo-shop I have ever seen. Looks more like Glue-stick!

H

That's pretty damn funny Tiki Mantis!

Just for the record, here's the actual cover:

I like the other one.

Here is a website that contains a number of alternate album covers, including the "Romantica" cover. http://yasviridov.livejournal.com/97691.html?page=2#comments

The plot sickens:

Still no real way to tell if this album cover was legit or not.

Can we please get back to the naked women!

I prefer to put my naked ladies in historical context.

Interesting historical note: Miles Davis blew up when he saw this cover of a white woman on a yacht, which is why later covers for this album show him blowing his horn.

Very nice images, martian tiki!

Much better than these modern examples (Tiki vs. Tiki-Revival):

Yeah... those are just terrrrrible. Very nice of you to post those bad examples so we can better identify them.

Thanks. Glad you understand. Sorry you had to suffer through them, but I thought I should post them in the name of science.

I figured out to avoid Marie McCray and her bike but I'd appreciate more information on the playboy.

Martian-tiki - That would be Michell Damm, from the "Girls of Hawaiian Tropic", July 1999. Found the photo on the usenets doing a generic "Tiki" search. Same with the others.

Oh yes the usenets - that brings me back to the 1990's. Anyhow for the sake of complete disclosure that particular image I don't think will be found in the issue itself - nor will the picture actually in the issue show the torches she is holding in the full version.

Fortunately in addition to USENET there are now Hungarian message boards that carry that sort of material allowing us to see complete picture (thanks to super science's ARPANET efforts!). And so in service to others don't waste your time when there are subtly named zip files below if you must expose yourself to modern tiki-revival.

And in regards to the other subjects in Sabu The Coconut Boy's post more images to avoid looking for.

Nice work. Unfortunately, there is now way in hell I am gonna get any of this onto my good ol' Powerbook.

Martiantiki,

Here's your mystery girl again. Listed simply as "Lani":

It's great to see Lucky Tiki is back!

I just fixed the expired links on my previous posts going back to page 2 of this topic (the pic on page 2 was from Modern Man 12/66), so you should "read" this entire topic again. I know, tough job!

Not sure where this one was posted before so here it is again (from Modern Man 12/60):

Lucky Tiki gets lucky again!.

Not sure if that's the back of Lucky Tiki in this one. Doesn't she look like rockabilly doll Kim Lenz?:

This one's slightly naughtycal:

Does this qualify by it's title?:

From the same Get It On mag that I posted from earlier:

Here's an article from Modern Man on the Tiki Kai in Albuquerque that I (or someone else) may have posted somewhere on TC before but the link may be dead (perhaps it's in the Book of Tiki but I scanned through and didn't see it).

Wow! An Andres Bumatay cake slice Tiki! Now THAT gets me going! :D

T

Something's missing in your picture, Sven.

Is that your Buick (LeSabre?) in the driveway?

Das Boot, Dean, indeed, in all its glory! And I am glad you asked " But Sven, what is a Bumatay cake slice Tiki !?"
Well, to mix education with a bit of pleasure, here is my answer: It is the same as the "Slice of Pie" Tiki, for which I made this cruddy little drawing, to explain it's unique design principle:

MMMMMMMM......Pie!!!

T

MMMMM, cheesecake!

Merry Christmas HornDogs........

I love this thread
