I'm tired of the Southern Pacific Railroad! They play a little game where they pull up almost enough to let traffic by and stop. Then back up almost enough to let traffic by and stop. Then repeat. They are only supposed to block traffic for 10 minutes but there is no enforcement so they do as they damned well please. Then again, law enforcement has been turning a blind eye to the railroad's shenanigans since the 1800 when the railroad would convince land owners to sell their land to bring the railroad through.

Don't we taxpayers pretty much fund the railroad with government subsidizes or is that just Amtrack? When I am sitting and waiting for 30-45 minutes, I think of ways to get revenge. I would like to fine a sidelined train and weld the wheels to the track with a portable welder! But I'm sure that would be some sort of a federal crime, probably terrorism. Maybe I can buy an old clunker car (cash), park it across the tracks and remove all 4 wheels! :lol:

I have noticed that the COST of celebrations has far exceeded the VALUE of those celebrations. When I got married 30 years ago we had our wedding reception in the church social hall. Wedding cake, red punch, butter mints, and mixed salted nuts. Now a wedding reception is EXPECTED to have a 7 course sit-down dinner, open bar, a band AND a DJ, elaborate gifts for all the guests, limo shuttle service, etc. Same with kid's birthday parties, they used to be a simple affair with cake and ice cream. Now you can't have a birthday party for a 3 year old without spending $1000.

So the cost has dramatically increased ~ has the value, or the amount of enjoyment derived increased? Based on the difficulty in obtaining RSVPs, I say the answer is no. People have so many entertainment options that they do not want to commit to any given event because something better might come up. People expect you to go into debt for $200 for each guest but they can't be bothered to drop an RSVP card in the mail that you already stamped and addressed? What's up with that???!!!

Yes, Most people are jerks....they can't even take the time
outside of "Facebook" to return email, phone calls etc.

Zactly. When we got married we spent about $700 on the place, $500 on the food, and then went to Maui for less than $1000. We handed out disposable cameras to everybody and told them to shoot all the pics they wanted, instead of getting an official photographer. We have the best wedding photos of us & guests I've ever seen. My mother-in-law catered for the cost of the food. We actually had money LEFT OVER from our original budget!

I asked a wedding photographer about their rates recently and they were more than our entire wedding and honeymoon put together, because they shoot pics/video/and put together a DVD & a printed book with options of multiple copies for your family! Weddings are $10,000 to $20,000 and up. Maybe it's time to charge admission...

While I'm wound up, let me tell you I'm tired of Children's Hospitals panhandling for cash! I work in a rural hospital, we take care of 95% of the children in our town. But the WalMart across the street collects money for the Children's Hospital 120 miles away. Why do they need donations? They don't give free care, they bill insurance just like we do. If you want to give money, give it locally. Just because "it's for the kids" makes it OK? Would it be OK to collect money for the Los Angeles City School District at WalMart in the city of Fontana? It would be "for the kids". Harumph! :lol:

I'm tired of stupid phrases in commercials; auto "lease prices too low to mention!" What the hell does that mean exactly? Are they so low it's illegal to advertise them? Is it such a great deal that you will be flooded with buyers and it will create a safety hazard? Are you worried that your competitors will hear those prices and beat them.

While I'm ranting about car marketing, I saw a good one yesterday. A Lincoln in the Ford dealership had a BIG RED SALE sticker on it, marked down from $45,000 to $44,000. That's a 2% discount - how embarrassing! Can you imagine if JC Pennys advertised a 2% off sale? They would get laughed out of the mall! Michael's crafts has a 40% off any single item coupon in the paper every Sunday. When I see a dealership do that, then I'll be impressed :D
