Hang10Tiki stuff

TIKIGIKI just what I was thinking.

Hang10tiki I need more explanation or photos of these bullet projects in use. What did you do with the lead tops?

Wendy- these are my spent rounds. First, I filled them with epoxy to hopefully cut down on the bubbles. Pour a small amount of epoxy in the silicone skull silicone mold, let it sit for just a short time, drop in the ammo, pour in the rest of the epoxy. Then I spend the next 10 or 15 minutes using heat to pop the surface bubbles. Cures in 24 hours. The fifth one is curing now, so tomorrow I will add a picture of the completed lineup.

In the meantime, this piece is finished for a thirsty friend! I’m not sure what type of wood this is, it was a leftover piece in my garage that I stumbled across, possibly Mesquite. He said his favorite color is blue, so he got the blue epoxy bottom.

And as usual, sanded to 3000 grit

If anyone was unfortunate enough to end up with a skull full of bullets, it's my bet they are then incapable of doing much at all.....

Do these have a specific function or are they purely decorative items?

I like the way the epoxy came out on the giant coasters, so I added black to one of mine!

I rounded the edges and sanded it to 3000 grit, wow, great wood grain! Just need to stain the base. Thanks again.

I think so, it’ll make a nice surfing trophy for my brother. You know the trophy that got away. Lol

He surfs and you hit the range. I used to have a paper target on my wall showing I know how to aim. Good fun.

I had an aunt who opened the first all-female gas station in California. She was in Reader Digest. They all wore white with black bow ties. I just mention her because once she thought it would be fun to sit on the patio (out in the country) and hit bullets with a hammer to shoot them off. Only one spun around and shot her in the leg. She showed me the big dent and scar when I was a kid. She also was a gold miner/prospector. Such a fun aunt. I like the coaster.

For starters

I like you carved the chimney into stones. Looks great stained.

Palm cleaned up

Cut off a 1 foot piece

Here we go:

My saw wouldn’t cut straight so I had to level it with an angle grinder.

Chisel time

Took out about 5 inches of material from each end

Then had to pull out the drill to help gut out the middle

Lil sanding of outside and ends

Now I just have to pick out the pattern for the drum

Hmmmmmm

Drums are so cool when they have tikis or tribal designs. This is going to be fun to watch.

Well Crud I just realized something a little late, I should not have hollowed out the bottom half of the log, I should’ve done the design work first, while chiseling today, started cracking. Oh well

A Pahu drum! So you glue the cracks with some good carpenter's glue, clamp it, and hit is again?
