This left side hanger is looking great Jonny.

Thanks CYborg
:D

Now he can hear you

Peek a boo
Eye see u

I had a naughty Aunt who said she could always tell if a man was right or left handed. She taught me how so I see your tiki is right handed!
He has my favorite tiki face. He looks wonderful. Wendy

Great balance on this one H10, the cracking adds to the personality!

You know [when you carve] wood goes thru to the other side, right?
So you get extra credit every time you carve a hole thru a Tiki.
Extra credit applied.
Good job.

Little G- thank you, glad u like
CY- thanks for the fly by Cy
Will- thanks, made me laugh out loud :)

Base light coat to see if this is the stain I want for the body

Yup
Liked it

Body time

Next
Pick a dark color for the base

Did a second coat of both stains today

Wanted to start something small

So
Jumped out of my comfort zone

Banyan wood

Big guy done

Just needs more sanding

Then figure out what makes the grain POP best

This turned out great. And interesting how the stain accentuates it’s, uh, inherent qualities.

That skull thingie is out there.
Could be your best yet.
Try some rub on polly on a scrap left over.
It would give it a low luster shiny furniture finish.

Hamo-
not sure what you are talking about
:)
:)
:)

:)

Will- funny, that’s what I did last night
Just have to finish my coffee n walk to the garage to see

I did 2 tests
a poly spray and a Howard feed-n-wax on 2 other banyan wood pieces

I’ll post results

Cheers all
Have a great weekend

No flash

Flash

Going with poly

Cheers

How tall is the big guy?

I like this.

Hope- 4 1/2 foot
Will- I’ll keep an eye out
Never seen it before

1st coat of spray poly

Wow you have done so much since I last checked. Love the Big Guy, he is handsome though a bit stubly as Hamo "pointed" out. You are being gentle with this "piece".

Skull is so much fun. It' looks like my baby I have next to your swap tiki from last time.

The matching set reminded me of the Harvey's salt and peppers but with more detail.

Keep it up you are on a roll. You are so good at this art. Wendy

Thanks Wendy
To kind

BB

That skull is killer, and love the big guy - especially the way you worked with what the wood gave you.

Bammm- thanks, skull was fun

Next

The 2nd ash trunk a friend gave me
5 foot
Funky shape
Will take time to even lower 1/2 out
Not keeping his junk on this one
Looks rotten :(

Took bark off last month

Skinned it

Wow, is this one a woman or are you going to have a group of guys?

Wendy- just a TIKI
:)

I love deep cuts, but only on wood. It's a guy. Wendy

Times like this I wish I had a chainsaw

I think you get faster every time you do one. This looks good. I hope to see a photo of the two together when this one is finished. Wendy

Your wish is my command

After I finish the big guy
This will be the next project

Kamani wood

The tree known in Hawaii as kamani has a broad distribution throughout southern Asia and Africa, and it has many other names; its scientific name is Calophyllum inophyllum, and three of its more well-known names are tamanu, poon and Alexandrian laurel. People who live in areas in which this tree is native often consider it sacred, and it has many medicinal uses. Hawaiians traditionally use the wood for home construction, decorative crafts and containers.
