Wow Jerome, I've been missing out! There's so much great stuff going on in your shop. I love the owl - brilliant idea. I like seeing how you have all the tikis blocked out on your bench. Are you hand cutting those or using a band saw? |

That skull-nut ring is sweeeeeeet!! very cool Great job on the toki/adze too, nice to know the old forms are still being used, Im assuming its a working tool? A no-nonsense tool anyway! If you ever want to make an ornamental model with traditional nephrite/pounamu blade Im happy to help. |

Hello Tiki Central! Monthly update from France! -Thank's for comment Cy! Always appreciate. -Yes Will, my lil Lono guy love journeys... -Thank you Hiltiki! -The adze handle is from ash tree Tom, less harder than oak, beautiful grain and nice smell when you cut it. -Thank you Grand Poobah! -Also thank's for stopping by Sensei carver. -Thank you Conga! The adze was a pleasure to carve, same time a challenge... I think I will start another one soon. But meanwhile there are still many things on the workbench! -Thank's BigT! The owl is a commisionned work for a friend, his wife love owl... the tiki on the bench were roughed with the bandsaw ... At my work as the boss looks elsewhere... -Hey Tama! Nice to see here! Thank's for the skull ring :o . Fun and sweat to made it, I'm not very accustomed to working with files and metal saw. My adze will indeed make lot of chips ... Moreover, it has already begun -Thank you amate! Happy to inspire you! (You did the same...) Some différent thing on the bench last weeks: First, finally finishing frame For Jimmy Virani: carved details: With the Robb Hamel velvet here Also for Jimmy Virani ( Lucky guy! :P ) Another guy was happy with this inspired comtemporary maori figure: With an original design t-shirt : Some other works: The fourth Hawaïan brother finally finished: Another koru pendant with ash and walnut gift box: And a tiny walnut Ku, knive work and varnish, no sanding on this guy: A last pic, the first chips for the adze on a Walnut wahaika: That's All Folks! Very busy season... Hi Tiki Central! Some news from France! -Thank you Virani! Back from Aotearoa? Post the pics! :o :o :o -Also thank you JohnCC! Lot of fun to realise this fisherman lamp! -Thank you Hiltiki, I appreciate the comp'! -I'm not so young as I seem... Thank you CY! -Amate hello! I thins linseed oil, by heating, so that it penetrates deep into the woods. I read in an old book that piece of equipment mills (wood) was boiled in linseed oil, which gave them an increased hardness and wear life so much longer. For Wahaika, I polished it when the oil dryed. -I see very well what you mean Tama ... I asked as long, turning the blade in all directions. The documents I found on the adzes are very imprecise. But in a logical way, in the direction of the cutting, it's true that the concave part has to come against the handle. -Wow! Much of compliment from you Sensei carver! Thank's a lot! HappyHappyHappy me too!!! -Hey Clarita! Good to hear you! What's news in the bamboo world? Not much this time, really not much time to sculpture ... The Wahaika on the previous page finally finished Engraved amaranth and polycarbonate pedestal: A poplar Moai, finished in time for a X-mas gift: And a pair of twist bone ear pendant: That's all for this year! And if you go through La Rochelle at the end of the year, come see us: Have a nice day! |
