Wendy- Thanks A’a has 30 lil guys on him. So, 31 tikis total. Not sure about the base, the original didn’t have a base. I've seen two replicas of this tiki. One in a museum in the Marquesas and one in a museum in the Austral islands. You really have capture the look of those amazingly well. I have enjoyed watching the progress of your carving over the last 11 years. This is a picture of the replica on the island of Rurutu |

MaukaHale- Thanks, great photo, I’m glad you have seen him in all the right places. MadDog- It’s still a dead tree, just in my garage, for now, lol. Here’s a photo I found at an estate sale years ago (by the markings on his face I think it’s the original, see the museum book) Photo:

LG- thanks. Wendy- well I had high hopes, the wood however had other ideas. This fan palm was not in good shape. Didn’t know it until I was a few hours in. Almost tossed it in the trash can twice! No detail, oh well, he lives outside! |
