Yes. They glow in the dark. Makes it easy to find them

I love my little UV flashlight. I'm glad it works on those dangerous creepy crawlers.

All hands on deck:

Reminds me of the "hang in there" cat. Space for a rope and he could hang from the ceiling.

That was the vision:

Ready to paint

Next is the gray highlights

As they say, "great minds think alike"!!! He's adorable. A real swinger.

Next:

I found a small pair of deer antlers at a thrift store, so, time for another Native American, this one will be wearing a deer pelt

Here we go

IMG_1292IMG_1332

That's a cool idea. Good find. I like the open eyes you added to the gorilla.

Thanks Wendy πŸ‘πŸΌ

IMG_1384

Wow, this will be an interesting piece.

And a challenge

IMG_1438IMG_1439

Looking good.

Thanks Wendy.

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

Wood is hard in more ways than one. How deep to go on the cheeks to make a nose stand out? I know when I work in clay It's remove then add on. With wood, horrors of decisions. You are showing angles and I'm enjoying every single move you make.

That’s the hard part

The nose has to stick out

IMG_1491

Yep!

Deeper on the sides of the face

IMG_1529

Coming to life!

IMG_1585

This shows a lot of work already. The nose is going to be fun to see it evolve.

Thanks Wendy

Fun carve

Little bit more today on the jaw and neck area

IMG_1701IMG_1703

Got a couple more hours, not that you can tell

IMG_1714

Lots of deep carving. Lots of work!

Thanks Wendy. Good eye

OK, time to work on his shirt and texture his jacket

IMG_1739

And since it was under 100Β°, I decided to take 2 mile walk wearing my 60 pound vest

IMG_1742

Wow, you must have good knees. We are working to lose weight to keep ours!

OK, time to start working on his nose

IMG_1853

Wow, so far along now. I like his fur jacket. Looks like a good nose so far. I used Dan as a model for some of my art. You can use yourself for this one!!!

Good idea, but I printed a bunch of photos for reference. Wouldn’t wanna mess it up with my crooked nose, lol.

Early am power coffee

IMG_1857IMG_1858

Take more off the chin, little deeper on the sides of the face, take the hair down lower, finish the lower half of the nose

IMG_1863IMG_1862

Next was a walk

IMG_1867IMG_1865

You have a nice nose. Love walks. Deep carving really has made this special.

lol

IMG_1941

Hair done

IMG_1943

The hardest parts are waiting for you to tackle them. This is the really fun part.

He's coming to life. He's not happy, or maybe he's serious about his condition. Looking good either way.

You are correct he’s not happy because it’s so freaking hot here

When you retire move the Elk Grove, CA. We are fast becoming the brewery capital of California. We have 2 tiki bar/restaurants in Sacramento and so many surrounding us within a 2-hour drive. So much fun living here. You two would be a welcome addition.

I got one of those steaks for Dan for New Years 2024. DSCF4256

We took home a lot of meat. When we were ready to eat it we saw it was 50% fat. I sliced it thin and roasted it and then used paper towel to squeeze out the rest. Sure fat adds flavor but we didn't want a heart attack. This was at SR Prime in Elk Grove. A super fancy restaurant.

Be careful. Where do you go for one?

Oh how the information has changed

Fat is good

Carbs/ sugar bad

I was 240 lbs Ate meat (the fatter the better), fish, eggs, butter, cheese, avocado and salt

Lost 50 lbs in 3 months

Had a few beer (carb) slip ups

Back on track

I only eat once or twice a day

Always full

No hunger or cravings

The fat gives you satiety

Lots of data and studies to back it up

Also: it’s sustainable

U can drop weight on a low fat, low calorie diet, but it’s not sustainable, the weight always comes back

Check out the low carb MD podcast, all explained there! Life changer

So many metabolic diseases can be cured including diabetes type 2

These were the first two books I read on the topic that basically changed my life.
