Thanks Sven, you and Naomi are terrific! I loved exploring the desert with you both!

Amy

Where did you guys go? I had originally planned to be there the whole day (something came up) and wanted to look at some of the caveman stuff they have out there..

Where I had wanted to go for long time: to Lake Loreeeeeen!

...or what's left of it! I will make a complete post about the findings (slim), and talking to the natives, in the epic TIKI BIRD thread

Sven, I love the boat you bought there . I can totally fix that for you .

T

What an incredible time we had at M.O. The only downside to the weekend was that it wasn't longer; we'd just gotten into our groove & it then it seemed like it was time to pack up and head out.

Many heartfelt thanks to Amy & Co. for creating such a wonderful place for us to share with all of our tiki friends, old & new. We miss everyone already!

MOJAVE OASIS RAWKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank yew Amy and everyone who put this together for us!
It was truly an amazing experience.
If you've never been camping before,
this is definitely the best way to ease in to it :D
Everything about it was just....incredible!
the bar, the art, carvings, mermaids, omgosh - everything! that stage!!! the fact there was 2 lakes! :o AH! sooo fun! and the rad trailers, the decorations (some people went all out and that was just so cool to see!)

I loved the fact it was just so laid back, just really. getting away from it all! paradise! thanks yew again Amy & everyone!!!

Wow, great album, Tony! I love the way you play with angles, color and B&W effects, and shoot things at just the right light!

Great seeing all the old and new tiki friends. But I thought one of the coolest parts of the weekend was Saturday night in the bar, when we were paid a visit by Spike. He is the head of the Newberry Springs property owners' association. I am so gun shy after living among the litigious members of the Bermuda Dunes community that I thought he was there to complain about the noise. Instead, he was thrilled with everything, specially a chance to talk with Sven, and receive a copy of his Book of Tiki (autographed of course). The next day Sven, Naomi, Amy, Ben and Vicky visited Spike's ranch. I am told he was the perfect host and was thrilled they came. GOOD STUFF!!

3 Rules for a happy life:

Never eat at a place called "Moms"
Never play cards with a guy named "Doc"
Never throw Albert Pujols a fast ball when you're behind in the count.

Yes, it was great meeting a native, and hearing stories of long gone desert Shangri-Las. Best thing was that Spike confirmed that the Louis Armstrong concert at Lake Loreen actually happened: He was there! (More on that in the Tiki Bird thread)

WOW!
Looks like we missed a GOOD one!
We will make it out though.

Fantastic set of pics Tony! The event just looked outstanding. The Mojave Oasis looks out of this world. From the vintage trailers, to the lagoon, to the beautiful stage, to the mermaid lounge, to the sign - the whole project just leaves me speechless! So sorry I missed it, but can't resist the pictures!

I hope some day I get to attend this! I'm LOVING these pictures and the whole idea of this!

It's got me scanning Craigslist for affordable trailers.

In future years I wouldn't be surprised if Tiki Campgrounds pop up everywhere and this event is looked back upon as the beginning of a new wave.

It's just such a comfortable fit!
