I thought that photo was great and then you wrote:

actually it's going to be trimmed to about 8 feet

Now I like it even more!!!!!!!!

tiki is getting stronger and starting to
stand...also shy...hence the modesty
belt

[ Edited by: congatiki on 2005-05-22 06:38 ]

update pic above...was having a little
shutterfly trouble but I figgered it out!

Lookin nice! I can't even imagine doing a 9 footer. I'm carving 5 inches right now and I don't know what to do with it. (I know there's a joke in there somewhere)

I like the joke! thanks...still finishing
your lounge painting but this guy is taking
most of my time.

Conga, I really like the basic lines of your design. I think this will be your best one yet by far.

thanks Fink and A-A...here's a side angle
showing the surprise tiki stool

[ Edited by: congatiki on 2005-05-23 04:44 ]

What a great idea! A tiki sitting on a tiki stool. The look on the stools face is great too, one of annoyance and discomfort. Keep em commin Conga, and don't worry about the lounge painting, I know I will love it.

B

Conga, this one is Really Looking Good. I agree with Aaron that this may be your best one yet. Love the modesty beltidea, great thinking. Can't wait to see more of this guy in progress Thanks for sharing.

I love the tiki stool
What a great idea to carve a tiki into anyspace available on the wood.
Thanks for sharing. Man I gotta get me a 12 foot log or bigger. Time to call the pole farm.

You're rocking the Northwoods there Conga... great work!

O

Great job on that one,,man you are really getting good..watch out there Ben...

Very clever and outstanding work. I can't imagine the sanding involved in this project. I commend you for tackeling it. I love the humor and anything that brings a smile is worth so much!

WOW...I'm speechless...thanks Finkdaddy/Ben/RT/LakeSurfer/OnaTiki and
Tiki Tammy....really appreciate the
nice comments...it is a lot of work and
it's a bitch to move the son-of-a-gun
around...I set out to make this my best
effort but Mr BenZart has nothing to worry
about....He inspires everyone! Long weekend
coming up...more pics soon.

Beautiful stuff there, Conga! really nice job!

Hey conga- What a cool tiki. Great design too.

Hey Sam...thanks...i hope he looks good
next to the Gambino print of the conga-playing tiki...

It's a nice Memorial Day in the Northwoods...Big Tiki gets to enjoy it

and in the tiki room...he has to be tied
up or he drinks all my rum

Oh just give him some rum. Have some yourself Congatiki. Nice work.

The finshed Tiki looks great. What color stain did you use?
Dont have to much rum before trying to move him.

T

Looks awesome!

B

Excellent Conga, super nice work. Some very neat innovations like the straining tiki stool and unhappy bottom tiki holding everyone else up. Overall the detail is Very good and crisp. Looks great standing next to his brother. Everyone watch out, Conga's commin 'round the corner.
Now we need more, more, more
Thanks for sharing

That Tiki Is very nice! I love the stool he is sittin on!! Great work!!! Thank you for posting your pic's!!
Later,
Spermy

Oh hell, I'll have some rum! What an outstanding addition for your Conga Room. Anxiously awaiting the next Conga effort!

thank you all for the nice words...kind friends...he was a lot of fun to work through. R-T...the stain is Valspar "dark
oak" one-step with varnish.

Wow, better and better and better! I hope that if you never give him any rum that the rope will be enough to hold him. Really nice Conga, you do us proud. :D

My thoughts were so loud I couldn't hear my mouth...

That really is some fine work! Thanks for posting.

Thanks Finkdaddy and Sam...appreciate the

wait to get started on log #2!

Nice job

Progress pics of another big'un...going

Conga, why aren't these pictures showing. Is it my computer or the post?
I Really want to see it.

I can see all but the first. He looks great, and so happy! But is that a knife or a banana he's holding? Perhaps his smile is hiding something more sinister...

I like it. Very nice lines around the mouth. Cant wait to see him done.

He's awesome, Conga. But if I see someone with a grin like that & a knife in his hand... I'm headed the other direction!

A-A

That right jolly tiki is lookin cool! Great going!

B

Much Better. I Love it. How tall is he. Nice feel to it. Easy going happy tiki. Can't wait to see him done

Yeh, apart from that knife

Cool tiki dude

Thanks Ben, Finkdaddy, RT, A-A, Sam G and
Hewey, really appreciate the comments,
especially coming from such a talented bunch. Right now he's a little over 8
feet tall....Not sure about the stain
color...I really like Benz latest Lono
in ebony...and Finkdaddy....it IS a knife...
thanks again...you are all great guys and
great artists!

having fun with a couple of tiki masks...first one is
a tiki with his hands in prayer...seeking good vibes for
Stentiki and anyone else having a hard time

and this guy is holding a sign that will eventually
read "mata rani room"...the new name for the congatiki
lounge...

Yeah! Keep it up Conga, the next free weekend, I swear! Perhaps in Sept? I'll let you know.

I like the difference between the matte black & the shinier brown on the sign holding Tiki mask. The brown reminds me of Mr. Bali Hai & the black reminds me of old age-darkened tikis from a forgotten bar.

Hi Finkdaddy and Dr Freddy...I wasn't sure about the two-tone effect with the lower one...in fact a friend of mine
said it should be tossed into the burn pit...thanks for
validating the concept. For some reason (and not through
intentional design) the face on the two-toner reminds me
of some form of Asian carving....maybe not specifically
tiki...but what the heck...right?

Looks sweet. I just wish you would post a pic without the foilage covering up the good stuff.

C

okay Raffer...he's coming to get 'ya

he's basswood and 32 inches.

[ Edited by: congatiki 2005-08-02 18:09 ]

Cool stuff, conga! I like your color tones too on these.

Hey dude. Nice carvings. Not big on the two tone myself, but if you dig and others do, more power to ya.

B

Nice carvings Conga, we don't get much from you but when we do it is really nice.. Love the "Praying hands" now that we can see'em.
